Abstract

This research explored the effectiveness of collaborative group work versus individual work in completing procedural text tasks using a picture series strategy among tenth-grade students of SMK Diponegoro Depok Yogyakarta. The study involved 22 students, each of whom completed two tasks in both group and individual settings. Before assigning the tasks, a questionnaire was distributed to collect data on students' work preferences and their understanding of procedural texts. The four tasks were administered in two separate sessions to avoid fatigue and ensure the quality of the work. Task results were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, supplemented by qualitative insights from interviews, to assess academic performance and student preferences. The findings indicate that students achieved higher average grades when working in groups (100 in grade 1 and 87.44 in grade 2) compared to individual work (89.48 in grade 1 and 92.14 in grade 2). Additionally, 78.9% of students expressed a preference for group work, citing enhanced understanding through group discussions and mutual support in problem-solving. Interviews highlighted that picture series were effective in helping students visualize and comprehend procedural steps, though some challenges with picture clarity and size were noted.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated learning in the practice of Pancasila values in elementary school students. A descriptive qualitative research method was used, with data collection techniques including classroom observations, teacher interviews, and documentation of students' learning outcomes at three different elementary schools. The results showed that teachers consistently applied differentiated learning by adjusting the content, process, product, and learning environment according to the students' needs. This approach successfully enhanced students' active involvement, learning motivation, and character development in alignment with the values of Pancasila. Differentiated learning has characteristics that align with supporting learning theories, such as Piaget's cognitive development theory, Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) theory, Kohlberg's theory of moral development, and Bruner's constructivist theory, which indicate that differentiated learning can be applied in the development of cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and character aspects that reflect Pancasila values through Civics Education (PPKn). However, there are some challenges, such as the implementation of initial assessments, limited time, and learning resources that need attention. This study provides implications for the development of effective and enjoyable Civics Education strategies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of morally-themed audio-visual media in strengthening honesty among elementary school students through character-based learning interventions. The research addresses the urgent need to improve the implementation of honest behavior in primary education, considering the ongoing challenges faced by students due to academic and social pressures. Conducted using a descriptive quantitative approach, the study involved 25 fifth-grade students, with data collected through a validated and reliable closed-ended questionnaire. Four types of media interactive presentations, Wordwall, educational songs, and instructional videos were integrated to stimulate students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor engagement. The results demonstrate a positive tendency, with the average honesty perception score reaching 97.75, calculated across all questionnaire indicators using percentage analysis on the Likert scale. These findings reinforce the value of audio-visual media as an innovative solution for character development in elementary schools, while highlighting the critical role of teacher competence in media management. The study’s implications provide an empirical basis for advancing character education in Indonesia’s current curriculum and encourage future research on optimizing digital methods to foster honest behavior.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning has a strategy to improve literacy in students, especially in the aspects of reading and writing text types, one of which is through fantasy story texts. However, the results of initial observations showed that seventh grade students of SMP Labschool Jakarta still had difficulty in understanding the structure and linguistic characteristics of fantasy story texts, with an average initial score of only 53 and a completion rate of 15%. This study aims to improve learning outcomes in fantasy story texts through the application of the discovery learning model in a differentiated learning approach assisted by YouTube media. This study used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was implemented in three cycles, with the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 53 in the pre-cycle to 78 in cycle II, and reaching 91 in cycle III, and learning completion increasing from 15% to 79%. These findings indicate that the application of discovery learning through differentiated learning based on YouTube media is effective in improving student learning outcomes, activeness, and motivation in fantasy story text material. This model is also able to facilitate the diversity of students' learning readiness, creating an inclusive, adaptive, and student-centered learning process.

Abstract

The role of madrasah teachers is crucial in guiding students to achieve quality learning. In the digital era, technological developments, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT, have had a significant impact on education. While ChatGPT can positively contribute to the teaching and learning process, it also poses new challenges in the form of declining interest in literacy, reduced critical thinking skills, and an increased risk of academic plagiarism. Therefore, madrasah teachers' strategies in anticipating the negative impacts of technology are urgently needed for research. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Malang City. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that madrasah teachers implement various preventive strategies, such as multiliteracy-based pedagogical planning, the implementation of open-ended question-based assessments, and the use of AI-based writing detectors. The discussion of this research elaborates on these strategies by linking them to literacy theory, constructivism, and previous literature reviews. The findings of this study confirm that madrasah teachers' strategies have a significant contribution to efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goal 4 regarding quality education.

Abstract

Strengthening entrepreneurial literacy from the elementary level plays a strategic role in shaping independent, creative, and socially responsible learners. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Market Day activity as a learning medium for entrepreneurial literacy at SD Negeri Pangrango. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects consisted of fifth-grade students, teachers, and the school principal. The results show that Market Day provided enjoyable and contextual learning experiences, effectively improving students’ understanding of basic economic concepts such as capital, selling price, and profit. Moreover, the activity cultivated entrepreneurial character values including honesty, responsibility, teamwork, and independence. The implementation of Market Day also strengthened the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly cooperation, creativity, and self-reliance. This activity not only enhanced students’ economic and communication skills but also fostered positive social and moral attitudes. Therefore, Market Day can serve as an innovative, contextual, and project-based learning model that supports the development of character and entrepreneurial competence in elementary school students and aligns with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum.
