Abstract

This research aims to create an E-LKPD supported by live worksheets to improve students' thinking skills regarding ecosystem material suitable for improving Natural Sciences (IPA) learning. The E-LKPD development method uses ADDIE which consists of 5 stages: (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Evaluation. However, this research is only limited to development. The e-LKDP acceptance criteria are based on the assessment of 5 fifth-grade elementary school teachers. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive methods. Validity criteria are determined from the validation results of Class V teachers who obtained the average percentage. The results of research data analysis show that e-LKPD developed using live LKS has an average score of 78.46%, which shows that it is suitable to be used as effective learning teaching material to improve students' thinking abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the needs of students and teachers for the development of interactive e-books that are integrated with the local potential of Kulon Progo. This research is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data collection uses needs analysis questionnaires, interviews and documentation. A needs analysis questionnaire was given to 156 students of SMPN 1 Nanggulan Kulon Progo. Interviews were conducted with two science teachers at SMPN 1 Nanggulan Kulon Progo. Interview and questionnaire data analysis techniques use qualitative descriptive. The results of this research are 1) aspects of the student learning process tend to be passive with varying student learning motivation; 2) aspects of using interactive learning media have never used interactive e-books for learning; 3) aspects of student characteristics in understanding concepts are still lacking, preferring to use smartphone media and practicums when learning; 4) the aspect of integrating science with the local potential of Kulon Progo has never been used in learning. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that teachers and students need interactive e-books that are integrated with the local potential of Kulon Progo to support the learning process.

Abstract

In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, the education system has used technology to assist the learning process. Technology-based learning makes it easy for students and teachers to carry out learning activities. However, teachers have not been able to optimally develop students' potential, low student learning outcomes and low problem-solving abilities in students. Problem solving ability is very important for a student in learning science. Problem-solving skills in science learning are the main key to training students' scientific thinking in solving phenomena in science. So, it is necessary for a teacher to improve the learning model for those who are able to develop students' problem solving abilities. Problem solving learning is a learning model based on problem solving. In addition, the problem solving learning model helps teachers to be more creative in carrying out the teaching and learning process. This study aims to analyze the effect of problem solving learning models on students' problem solving abilities in science learning. The data source for this research comes from an analysis of 30 national or international journals that have been published from 2010-2022. The search for data sources came from the Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Emerald, Eric, Springer, Hindawi, ProQuest, Sage Journal, Wiley and Taylor of Francis databases. Sampling in this study was carried out by using purposive sampling technique. The data that can be used is related to the research variable. Furthermore, the research data search keywords are problem solving learning models, problem solving skills and science learning. Data analysis is a descriptive quantitative analysis technique with the help of the OpenMEE application. The results of the study concluded that the problem solving learning model had a significant influence on students' problem solving abilities in science learning with an effect size of 1.808, an average value of 83 and a standard deviation of 0.45

Abstract

Vocational skills are one of the skills that students must have in facing today's industrial world. Therefore, schools should provide lessons that can improve students' vocational skills. One way to develop vocational skills is through chemistry learning based on Chemo-entrepreneurship (CEP). This research aims to determine the influence of CEP-based chemistry learning on students' vocational skills and learning outcomes. The method used in this research was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. This research was conducted at MAN 1 Rembang. The research sample consisted of 48 students consisting of 23 students as the control group and 25 students as the experimental group. The research results showed that the N-gain of vocational skills in the control group was 0.31 while the experimental group was 0.55. The N-gain of the control group's learning outcomes was 0.04 while the experimental group was 0.53. The results of the t test for vocational skills and learning outcomes obtained a score of t count > t table (2.01), namely 3,462 and 6,932. The conclusion of this research is that CEP-based chemistry learning has a positive influence in improving vocational skills and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

One of the efforts that teachers can undertake to strengthen their professionalism as educators is writing scientific papers and teaching materials. This study aims to analyze knowledge and scientific performance competency in designing and carrying out Classroom Action Research of the teachers in SMP Muhammadiyah 8, Batu City. This study was descriptive study. This study was conducted from July to November 2022. The population and samples of this study were the teachers of Batu City Middle Schools. The procedures of this study encompassed preparation and research implementation. The number of respondents was 30 teachers. Interviews and questionnaires were used as the data collection procedures of this study. The knowledge aspects studied from the teacher's scientific performance competence were formulating appropriate research problems, developing a literature study framework, compiling a conceptual framework, and analyzing research results data. The data analysis technique used in this study was a descriptive-analytic by describing the findings of the study. The results of this study indicate that: that experience in the form of undergraduate education background is higher (66.76%) than master (33.38%); being a teacher for less than 15 years or less (33.00%), over 15 years is 67.00%; experience doing research is 83.00% and performance competency knowledge in the field of scientific work of Batu City Middle School teachers is in the sufficient and good categories. This study recommends that correlation analysis (correlation regression) is required between the professionalism aspect, particularly in terms of teacher scientific field performance, and assistance is needed to improve teachers’ competencies thru collaborative academic activities between lecturers and teachers in schools; one of the activities is thru a Lecturer Partnership Program.

Abstract

This study investigates physical properties parameters of the soil in landslide prone areas in West Battang Village, Palopo City. This study aimed was to determine the grain size of the soil, the value of soil permeability, and the distribution characteristics of the soil in landslide-prone areas. The 30 samples were taken randomly at a depth of 30 cm, then tested the soil grain size, permeability, and the samples distribution. The results showed that the grain size of the soil consisted of gravel, coarse sand, medium sand, and fine sand, with a size of approximately 0.075 – 4.75 mm. The soils in West Battang Village are dominated by sandy soil. The grains soil in the West Battang Village is dominated by coarse sand. The physical characteristics of the soil grains in this area are classified as poorly graded due to incomplete grain size with soil permeability values in the range of 0.5 – 2.0 cm/hour which can absorb water in category of moderately slow. These permeability values can be categorized as a moderately slow and can stimulate landslides due to gradually accumulation of water in the soils.

Abstract

Skills in the 21st century require students to have a highly cooperative attitude, be able to communicate well, be creative, and think at a high level. To apply these skills, the form of approach that can be applied is to use the STEM approach. This study has the objective of analyzing the effect of the STEM approach on improving students' natural science learning outcomes obtained by analyzing the effect size results. The research articles consist of 20 articles sourced from international and national journals. Effect Size analysis is based on the grouping of educational levels and student learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the STEM approach greatly influences the improvement of science learning outcomes for students at both elementary, junior high, and high school levels who are in the high category. And the STEM-based approach has a high influence on the three elements, especially on the knowledge element.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of the thickness of coconut shell composite board on elasticity, sound absorption, water absorption, and density. The elasticity test was conducted using the tensilon RTF2350 machine at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the sound absorption test was conducted using the sound level meter GM1352 at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the State University of Yogyakarta. The thickness of the composite board was varied, and its elasticity was measured using the tensilon RTF2350 machine, the sound absorption measurement was determined using a sound level meter with a sound source from a sound generator with a frequency of 1000Hz and intensity of 20 dB, while the thickness was varied. The elastic modulus decreased with the increase in partition thickness, sound absorption decreased with the increase in partition thickness, and water absorption increased with the increase in partition thickness. Water absorption was determined by submerging the partition into distilled water for 30 seconds and observing the mass before and after immersion into the water.

Abstract

Literation level, one of them is scientific literation, is possible to be the measurement of a national improvement in education. Scientific literation could be specified by chemistry literation which has four aspects; one of them is the affective domain. In this study, the research focuses on the affective domain consisting of five phases; phase of receiving, phase of responding, phase of valuing, phase of organizing, and phase of characterizing by value set. The study aims to describe the students' chemistry attitude skills related to hydrocarbon materials by integrating local case of everyday life. The local case taken is the cooking oil used in the “penyetan” stall. The research is descriptive qualitative research. The participants of this research are whole students of grade eleventh in a senior high school in Magelang who had been taught hydrocarbon materials. The sample of this research is 70 students of grade eleventh. Questionary is used in the research as a data collection method. The instrument used is a form of a questionnaire, which was a close-ended questionnaire with four possible answers; strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree. The result shows the skill of chemistry attitude of hydrocarbon material is 69.12857%. It means that the student's skill chemistry attitude is in a category of fair.

Abstract

This study aims to develop STEM student worksheets. The research method used is research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model stages. Determination of the research sample using random sampling method with research subjects are students of class XI IPA 1 SMA Inshafuddin Banda Aceh. The results showed that students' science process skills increased significantly and were significantly different from the pretest based on the T-test. Students' science process skills increased in each indicator with an average N-gain score of 37 belonging to the medium category. Students' motivation to learn science is high with an average score of 87.38% belonging to the very good category.
