Abstract

The wood industry is a downstream forestry sector. So, as an industry that uses wood as the main raw material, this industry is very dependent on the forestry sector. The relationship between the timber and forest industries is very close, and these two sectors influence each other. Analyzing the relationship between the level of knowledge of entrepreneurs regarding the sustainability of wood raw materials and the decision to buy certified wood or not is something that is really needed to become the basis for sustainability. By using a mixed-method research method, it is hoped that this research will be able to contribute to describing the situation of knock-down house entrepreneurs so that they can have a positive impact on the South Sumatra forestry agribusiness system. This research found that the level of knowledge of knock-down house entrepreneurs about certified wood is very low. It was detected that only 3.5% of entrepreneurs used certified wood. Meanwhile, almost 70% of respondents stated that they were not very interested in knowing more about certified wood. This situation is known to have a very significant level of influence on preferences for selecting certified raw materials or not.

Abstract

21st century learning emphasizes the importance of students' critical thinking skills and mastery of information technology. One use of technology in the learning process is through interactive learning media such as e-modules. Using e-modules can facilitate the development of critical thinking skills in students. One platform that can be used to create e-modules is Google Sites. This research aims to determine student perceptions of the effectiveness of Google Sites-based e-modules to facilitate students' critical thinking skills. This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach, with data collection techniques using a Likert scale questionnaire. The analysis results show that the assessment of the usefulness or students' perception of the e-module reached 85.48, including the very high sort. Apart from that, the analysis regarding the influence of e-modules on changes in knowledge and skills earned a score of 81.45, including the high kind. Based on the analysis of student perceptions, a positive response was found towards using e-modules, which indicates that the e-modules used are effective. Therefore, e-modules can be an effective learning medium in increasing understanding and facilitating students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Climate change threats to food security, because it decreases agricultural productivity. C. indica L can adapt to environment and produce white and red rhizomes. Dominant content both of rhizomes are carbohydrates which increase protein as nutrition by adding S platensis. The research aims to determine potential of composite flour of C. indica L and S. platensis as alternative healthy foodstuff for food security. The method consists of formulation composite flour, proximate tests, determining amino and fatty acids, in vitro growth tests of Lactobacillus, cookies and meatball formulations. The result showed composite flour from red rhizome (RRCS) contains 11% water, 21.745% protein, 0.5% lipid, 9.99% dietary fiber, 57.81% carbohydrates, and 8.94% ash.  While white rhizome (WRCS) contains, 8.75% water, 17.41 protein, 0.29% lipid, 9.54% dietary fiber, 67.601% carbohydrates and 5.94% ash. Amino and fatty acid appears in both composite flours were similar, except proline and oleic acid higher in RRCS.  Lignoceric founded only in WRCS. In vitro test showed Lactobacillus (BAL) grew on modified MRSA from RRCS and WRCS. Both of composite flour processed into marketable cookies and meatballs formulations. Based on the result, C. indica L and S. platensis composite flour can be used as alternative food for food security.

Abstract

Metacognitive skills are vital for empowering students, especially in subjects like biology that are intertwined with scientific activities. Science process skills are crucial for enhancing the learning process in science. This study aimed to assess the impact of STEM e-modules in Biotechnology on metacognitive and science process skills among students in the industrial agricultural sector, particularly those with low academic proficiency. The research followed a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design with a pretest-posttest research structure. The study population comprised public high schools in Jember, with class XII students from SMAN 1 Jember selected as the sample through cluster random sampling and class equivalence testing using ANOVA. Data collection involved essay tests, and prerequisite tests ensured homogeneity and normality. Hypothesis testing employed a two-way ANCOVA at a 0.5% significance level. The findings revealed that significant differences in metacognitive and science process skills when STEM e-modules were used in Biotechnology material, variations in metacognitive and science process skills based on students' academic abilities, and an interaction between STEM e-modules and academic ability on metacognitive and science process skills. This research suggests exploring the effects of STEM Biotechnology e-modules and academic ability on other dependent variables.

Abstract

The use of project-based learning model in learning can improve the quality of learning and students' learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine how effective the project-based learning model is on learning outcomes.  The method used in this research is quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. This research instrument is in the form of a student learning outcomes test in the form of descriptions, from the test results the n-gain test is carried out. The results showed an increase in student learning outcomes with an average pretest score of 45.73 and an average posttest score of 82.08. The result of the n-gain analysis is 0.57 which shows a moderate effectiveness category. Therefore, learning evaluation courses using project-based learning models is effective on student learning outcomes

Abstract

This study aims to develop interactive multimedia based on problem solving using articulate storyline on fluid material in class XI Phase F. The research wants to test the validity and practicality of interactive multimedia using articulate storyline. The research method used R&D with Plomp’s model. Plomp's model consist of three phases, there are preliminary phase, prototyping phase, assesment phase. The subjects of this research were the physics lecturer of physics department, physics teacher and students in class XII IPA 9 MAN 2 Padang. The instruments used to collect data consisted of interview sheets with teacher, observation sheets, self-evalution questionnaire, expert review, one to one and small group questionnaire sheets. The data obtained were analyzed using validity index proposed by Aiken and practicality data using category interval. The result of this study show that the development of interactive multimedia using Articulate Storyline was valid with score 0.91, practical by students with score 95.25% and practical by teachers with score 95.83. Conclusion of this study explains that the interactive multimedia based on problem solving using articulate storyline is valid and practical toward learning process.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the factors related to providing complete basic immunization to toddlers in the working area of ​​the Meuraxa Health Center, Banda Aceh. This research is analytical by design cross sectional. The population in this study were all mothers who had toddlers in the working area of ​​the Meuraxa Health Center in 2023, totaling 1860 people and a sample of 95 people. The research was conducted from 7 to 15 June 2023. Data was processed univariate and bivariate. The research results showed that there was a relationship between knowledge (P value = 0.006), there was a relationship between attitudes (P value = 0.000), there was a relationship between health education (P value = 0.003) and there was a relationship between the role of religious leaders (P value = 0.003) with the provision of complete basic immunization in toddlers at Meuraxa Community Health Center, Banda Aceh City in 2023. The Community Health Center can provide routine outreach to the community, especially mothers who have babies, either individually or in groups. Increase the support of religious figures for immunization by involving them in every immunization activity and making religious figures partners in disseminating immunization information

Abstract

Students' scientific literacy is influenced by various factors, including the choice of teaching materials used at school. An ethnobotanical atlas based on local wisdom is a collection of information or images that identify and document plants that exist around a particular community's residence or area, which can also be used by humans as food, medicine and so on. This research aims to determine the influence of ethnobotanical atlas media based on local wisdom on students' scientific literacy. This research is a pre-experimental research with a one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was students of class X MIA 1 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surabaya. The data collection technique uses a written test. Data analysis was carried out statistically using normality tests, homogeneity tests, T and N gain tests. The results of the analysis showed that the data was normally distributed. The results of the T test show a significant effect of using ethnobotanical atlas media based on local wisdom on students' scientific literacy with a significance level of 0.000<0.05. Meanwhile, the results of the N-Gain test show that the use of ethnobotanical atlas media based on local wisdom is quite effective in increasing scientific literacy and can be alternative learning resource

Abstract

Hypertension is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure above 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure above 90 mmHg. Treatment for hypertension is lifelong, and continuous use of conventional medications can lead to the accumulation of drugs, potentially cautilizing adverse effects on the body compared to traditional treatments. The herbal tea formulation of Euphorbia hirta herbs and Camellia sinensis leaves can lower blood pressure due to their high antioxidant activity, which is associated with hypertension-related diseases, including compounds like quercetin and myricetin. This research serves as an initial screening to assess safety and minimize side effects of the active compounds in E. hirta and C. sinensis, which are beneficial as antihypertensive agents, through in silico analysis. Toxicity predictions utilizing the ProTox II, pkCSM, and Vega-QSAR platforms, which have been verified to meet the acceptability criteria of Cooper statistics parameters, were conducted. The toxicity assessment parameters include carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, hepatotoxicity, and acute toxicity (LD50). The research results indicate that 9 compounds are carcinogenic and mutagenic, while 2 compounds are hepatotoxic. Based on the toxicity prediction assessment (LD50), it was found that quercetin and myricetin, with moderate toxicity, have LD50 values of 159 mg/kgBW

Abstract

Obesity in childhood is associated with early mortality, psychiatric, and cardiometabolic comorbidities, and is likely to remain into adulthood. One of the most often utilized models in health-related research to describe and predict behavioral health is the Health Belief Model. The current research aims to ascertain the link between adolescent fat intake and all HBM components. The design of this study was cross-sectional. Purposive sampling was the sampling method, and 110 participants from 4 secondary schools were included. The research data were analyzed using SPSS 27. Measurement of fat intake using a 24-hour food recall interview with two repetitions on non-consecutive days. HBM measurement using questionnaires with 59 questions representing 6 HBM constructs. The bivariate test was performed with the Spearman and Pearson tests. Variables significantly related to fat intake are cues to action and self-efficacy. The higher the cues to action, the lower the adolescent fat intake. Likewise, the higher the self-efficacy, the less fat intake in adolescents. HBM-based education is needed to increase adolescents' perceptions and beliefs regarding health problems, especially overweight, to support handling overweight issues in adolescents.
