Abstract

Soil fertility decline and sulfur deficiency are major constraints in shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) cultivation, especially in sandy soils with low cation exchange capacity. Biochar and rice husk ash are potential soil amendments known to improve soil structure, nutrient availability, and crop productivity. This study aimed to determine the effect of rice husk biochar and rice husk ash on the growth, yield, and sulfur uptake of shallots. A factorial experiment was conducted using a Randomized Group Design (RGD) with two factors: biochar and rice husk ash, each at three dose levels. Results showed that biochar application improved the number of leaves, number of tillers, and bulb weight per unit, while rice husk ash had a limited effect, mainly enhancing leaf number at early growth. No significant interaction between the two amendments was observed across measured parameters, including sulfur uptake. These findings suggest that biochar contributes more effectively to shallot growth and yield than rice husk ash under the tested conditions. Further studies are recommended to optimize the combined use of organic amendments and to explore their long-term effects on soil nutrient dynamics and crop performance.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a flipbook-based e-module that integrates Ketangerangan local wisdom to enhance cultural education for Phase A elementary students in Tangerang Regency. The Ketangerangan culture encompasses various traditional values, including egalitarian language (basa egaliter), etiquette (tatakrama), traditional games, and local arts. Utilizing the 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), the research focused on designing an engaging and pedagogically sound digital module. Practicality testing was conducted with 20 students and 20 teachers in Kelapa Dua District using structured questionnaires. Results showed high practicality scores—86.50% from students and 93.07% from teachers—placing the e-module in the “very practical” category. Students found the module easy to use and effective for understanding cultural material, while teachers praised its instructional quality and technical usability. The flipbook format successfully bridged the gap between technology and tradition, offering an innovative educational tool for cultural preservation and identity development. The study demonstrates that digital media, when thoughtfully designed and culturally contextualized, can revitalize local wisdom education and support its sustainable transmission to younger generations

Abstract

The use of sorghum is currently limited to its basic potential, particularly the sorghum grain, which is used as a food ingredient. Sorghum stalks, which produce sap, are typically used as animal feed because they have no economic value. Sorghum is commonly consumed in the form of porridge, bread, chips, and drinks. However, so far, sorghum stalks have only been used for animal feed. Sorghum sap derived from sorghum stalks can be used to make wine, as its composition is higher than sugarcane sap. Wine is made through a fermentation process with the help of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This study aims to determine the alcohol and glucose levels, organoleptic properties, and polyphenol levels. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). In this study, the fixed variables used were the glucose content of raw materials, the type of yeast, and pH, while the variable that changed was the % volume of the starter. The experiment was carried out by preparing sorghum sap, then the sorghum sap was poured into an Erlenmeyer flask with nutrients, and added starter (5%, 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 10%), operating 21 days and pH 4.3 then analysis of alcohol content and glucose content. The results showed that at % volume of starter 10% and fermentation time 21 days gave the highest alcohol content of 19.5%, glucose content 5.8 brix and total polyphenols 0.3449 mg/mL.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Project-Based Flex Blended Learning (PjBFBL) model in improving students' critical thinking skills on Ohm's Law material in science courses. The quasi-experimental method uses a Nonequivalent Control Group Design with 41 fourth semester students divided into experimental (PjBFBL) and control (conventional) groups. Instruments include critical thinking tests based on seven indicators (interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, self-regulation, essential questions), analyzed using N-Gain, T-test, and effect size. Results showed the experimental group achieved a moderate N-Gain improvement (0.63) with the highest categories in inference (0.78; high) and explanation (0.73; high), while the control group only had a low N-Gain (0.28). The independent T-test confirmed the significant difference (t (25,092) = 7.230; p<0.05) with an average difference of 35.78% and a large effect size (Cohen's d=2.299). The research conclusion indicates that the PjBFBL model effectively improves critical thinking skills, particularly in multidimensional reasoning and information synthesis, through the integration of authentic projects, hybrid flexibility, and structured collaboration. The findings recommend the adoption of this model in science learning to bridge the 21st century competency gap, noting the need to strengthen the interpretation aspect through more contextualized instruments

Abstract

Hyperlipidemia, especially elevated Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, is a global health problem that increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Conventional treatment with statins is effective, but it often causes side effects. This study aims to evaluate the potential of sandalwood (Santalum album L.) leaf, biduri (Calotropis gigantea) leaf, and arabic bidara (Ziziphus spina-christi L.) leaf as an antihypercholesterolemia agent using ethanol extract to lower cholesterol levels in mice.  Extraction is carried out through maceration with 96% ethanol for 3 x 24 hours, then evaporated to produce a thick extract.  The samples used in the antihyperocholesterolterol test were extracts of Santalum album L., Calotropis gigantea, and Ziziphus spina-christi L. Six groups, six mice each, consisted of: negative control (I), positive control (II), simvastatin drug control (III), and three test dose groups (IV: 3.5 mg/20 g BW, V: 7 mg/20 g BW, VI: 14 mg/20 g BW). Cholesterol levels were measured by the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Method using a cholesterol strip test after a blood draw.  The results showed that simvastatin can lower cholesterol by 59 mg/dl. Moreover, Santalum album L. leaf extracts provided the most significant reduction in cholesterol (33 mg/dl), followed by Ziziphus spina-christi L. (31 mg/dl) and Calotropis gigantea (28 mg/dl).  Although simvastatin showed a greater decrease, the plant extract still exerted significant effects as an alternative to antihypercholesterolemia therapy. This decrease in cholesterol is related to the content of active compounds, such as flavonoids and phenolics, that reduce LDL oxidation. These findings suggest that Santalum album L. has promising potential as an herbal antihypercholesterolemic agent

Abstract

Stunting is a complicated public health problem in Indonesia, with a countrywide rate of 21.5% in 2023. Puskesmas Rejosari in Pekanbaru City had the most stunting instances, with 50 out of 239. This shows that new ways are needed to find stunting cases early and teach people in the community about it. The goal of this study is to create the ANACETING (Stunting Prevention Information Application) Android app as a digital tool for finding stunting in toddlers early. The study is at the fourth stage of the Research and Development (R&D) approach and includes 30 mothers of toddlers as test subjects.A panel of media and material experts conducted validation using a structured questionnaire with 22 items on a Likert scale instrument. The app contains tools for measuring growth, interactive educational content, guidelines for supplementary feeding, immunization schedules, and a space for individuals in the community to chat about topics. The media expert gave it a score of 4.00 (in the "Feasible" category), while the content expert gave it a score of 4.00 with a content validity grade of 0.80. The user trials showed a satisfaction score of 4.20 and a System Usability Scale score of 82.5 (category "Very Feasible"). The job completion rate was 96%, and the user retention rate was 87%. The ANACETING software has shown to be a good digital learning tool since it is easy to use, works on a lot of Android devices, and can be used offline. Women may learn more about stunting and support community-level initiatives to stop it by using the app. This research helps Indonesia's digital health technology expand by employing a strategy that may work in any part of the nation.
