Abstract

Landslides are one of the factors caused by subsurface structures that are not compact, and have low density or resistivity values due to changes in groundwater. Rainwater that infiltrates into the ground will reach to an impermeable layer which is identified as a slip plane. This research was conducted in the Kastoba Lake area, Bawean Island, Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to determine the slip plane and the direction of the landslide in the studied area. Data acquisition was carried out based on a preliminary study of residual anomaly contour analysis from gravity data, then geoelectric data acquisition was carried out in the studied area. The results of lithological analysis on 3D geoelectric resistivity modeling in this study obtained three layers of subsurface structures, namely topsoil, clay, and lavas. The slip plane of the study area is above the clay layer (7.25 meters depth). The results of the 3D interpretation indicated that the direction of the landslide was towards the north, as evidenced by the existence of public information that the area studied had landslides with the avalanche direction towards the north.  For further analysis, a factor of safety analysis is needed based on the analysis of the bore hole drilling method in the studied area

Abstract

Indonesia has a lot of local culture in the marine sector, which is starting to disappear due to the impact of globalization, one of which is the Cadik boat located in Bimorejo Village, Banyuwangi. The purpose of this research is to analyze the concept of equilibrium physics on the Cadik boat. This type of research is qualitative research with interview, observation and documentation data collection methods. The data were analyzed using content analysis which consisted of seven stages, including Defining the research question, defining the population and samples, defining the units of analysis, deciding the codes, constructing the categories, conducting the data analysis, and creating inferences. The results showed that there was an equilibrium concept on the Cadik boat. The body of the boat and the outrigger provide equal and opposite forces to fulfil the equilibrium requirements ΣF= 0 and the outriggers on the sides of the boat have the same mass and length, thus fulfilling the equilibrium requirements Στ = 0. This research is expected to provide a new perspective for teachers and students so that physics learning is more contextual and meaningful.

Abstract

This study aims to develop students' abilities in interpreting and making reasoning about physics data. The type of research used is experimental research. Physics learning was carried out in two classes: control and experimental groups. In the experimental group, physics learning was oriented to student activities where students dealt with physics objects. In contrast, in the control group, physics was taught conventionally by applying direct learning. The ability to interpret and to make reasoning about data was obtained through written tests conducted on pre-test and post-test. Analysis of research data was carried out by qualitative descriptive and t-test statistical analysis. The descriptive analysis was performed to describe students' abilities to interpret and to make reasoning about data. A statistical t-test analysis was conducted to determine the difference in the impact of treatment on the two groups. The results showed that the average ability to interpret data and to make reasoning about data in the experimental group was 76.91 and 76.99, respectively, while in the control group, it was 53.33 and 63.08, respectively. The results of the t-test analysis showed that the 2-way (t-tailed) significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, so it could be stated that there was a difference in ability between the control group and the experimental group. Based on the results of these studies, it can be noted that learning physics that involves a lot of student activities that interact directly with physics objects can improve the skills of high school students in interpreting and reasoning scientific data.
