Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in Islamic Education (PAI) through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. PjBL is an innovative student-centered learning method that integrates theory and practice to enhance cognitive understanding, psychomotor skills, and the strengthening of Islamic character. The analysis was conducted on various leading educational journals from 2020 to 2024 to identify the benefits, challenges, and impacts of PjBL implementation in the context of PAI. The findings reveal that PjBL effectively improves students' learning outcomes, including material comprehension, creativity, and social skills. This method also successfully fosters students' Islamic character, such as responsibility, empathy, and collaboration. PjBL aligns with the Merdeka Curriculum approach, which promotes active and collaborative learning. However, its implementation faces several challenges, including limited time, inadequate facilities, diverse student abilities, and a lack of teacher training. The implications of this study include the need to enhance teachers' competencies through continuous training, provide adequate facilities, and adjust the curriculum to optimally support PjBL implementation. This study highlights that PjBL is a potential approach to developing relevant, innovative, and meaningful PAI learning, capable of building a young generation that is knowledgeable, possesses strong Islamic character, and is prepared to face global challenges. Abstract

This research aims to revitalize the concept of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in Islamic education through a holistic approach that integrates spiritual, social, and emotional values. This research is motivated by the increasing issue of mental health and happiness crisis among students, as well as the gap between the secular SEL approach and the spiritual dimension of Islamic education. The research method used is a literature study with content analysis to examine literature related to SEL, Islamic education, holistic approach, and the concept of happiness and mental resilience of students. The results showed that the revitalization of SEL in Islamic education can be done by integrating Islamic values such as ṣabr, tawakkal, amanah, and rahmah into SEL competencies. This integration not only strengthens the moral dimension of students, but also builds a deep inner connection with religious teachings, thus increasing students' happiness and mental resilience. The integration model of SEL and Islamic spiritual values presented in this study can be adopted by Islamic educational institutions as a framework for developing students' social-emotional competencies holistically.

Abstract

Inclusive education is a vital paradigm in establishing an equitable, adaptive, and disability-friendly educational system. Within the Islamic context, the values of inclusive education are neither foreign nor novel; they were already practiced during the prophetic era of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. This study aims to explore the principles of inclusive education reflected in the Prophetic traditions (ḥadīth), particularly those narrated by Imam Tirmidzi Imam Malik in al-Muwaṭṭa’, and Imam Ibn Majah. These narrations illustrate the Prophet’s interactions with companions with disabilities, such as ‘Abdullah ibn Umm Maktūm, and his prophetic attitude in granting them roles, dignity, and religious responsibilities. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through content analysis and thematic interpretation to extract contextual meanings from the hadiths. The findings reveal that principles such as recognition of human dignity, functional justice, social empowerment, and structural accommodation of persons with disabilities were foundational to the Prophet’s educational practice. These insights are reinforced by the social model of disability, Amartya Sen’s capability approach, and the Islamic legal framework of maqasid syariah, which upholds the protection of life, intellect, and human dignity as fundamental objectives. The study concludes that integrating prophetic values into the development of inclusive education is highly relevant to transforming the national education system into one that is more humanistic, inclusive, and transformative Keywords: Inclusive Education, Prophetic Hadith, Disability, Maqasid Syariah, Capability Approach, Islamic Humanism

Abstract

Buya Hamka’s Sufi thought revitalizes modern Islamic education in Indonesia by promoting “active Sufism”—a spirituality deeply rooted in ethical values and social responsibility. His approach transcends mere intellectual learning, fostering holistic character development that balances intellect, emotion, and spirituality. This framework addresses contemporary moral challenges, making Hamka’s Sufism highly relevant for shaping well-rounded, socially engaged Muslim individuals today. This study aims to analyze Hamka’s Sufi thought and its relevance to Islamic education in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach in the form of a literature study, the research focuses on Hamka’s major writings. Data were analyzed through thematic identification, categorization of key dimensions, and synthesis of findings, with validation ensured through source triangulation. The results reveal that This study explores Buya Hamka’s concept of Sufism and its relevance to Islamic education in Indonesia. Hamka integrates faith, moral, and spiritual education into a holistic framework that addresses contemporary challenges faced by Muslim communities. His approach emphasizes nurturing strong faith (iman) through spiritual practices like dhikr and tafakkur, fostering moral character based on divine ethics, and cultivating spiritual consciousness (taqwa) for inner transformation. Central to Hamka’s philosophy is the dual goal of achieving happiness in both worldly and spiritual realms, promoting a balanced life that combines ethical responsibility with practical engagement. This research highlights Hamka’s educational vision as a dynamic model that unites intellectual growth with spiritual and moral development. The study’s novelty lies in framing Hamka’s Sufism as a contextually relevant pedagogy, capable of guiding holistic human development in modern Islamic education in Indonesia, thereby addressing gaps between tradition and contemporary educational needs.

Abstract

Hadith studies, as a fundamental discipline in understanding Islamic teachings, are facing significant transformations in the digital era. This era offers easy access to unlimited data and a paradigm shift in automated hadith searches, supported by various software and digital databases. However, this progress also poses crucial challenges, such as the spread of fake hadiths, data vulnerability, and the need for researchers' digital literacy, which demands adaptation of hadith study methodologies. This study aims to examine these adaptations, analyze the challenges, and offer innovative solutions to ensure the validity and authenticity of hadith studies amidst the flow of digital information. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study obtained primary data through expert interviews and observations of digital platforms (Maktabah Syamilah, Al-Maktaba Al-Waqfiyyah), as well as secondary data from the literature. Thematic analysis was conducted through transcription, coding, and interpretation of meaning. The results show that the digital era has increased accessibility and changed the paradigm of hadith searches. However, challenges arise in the validation of digital sources, technological dependence that shallows analysis, ethical/copyright issues, and variations in digital literacy. The discussion emphasizes that solutions involve the development of integrated applications, increasing digital literacy, collaboration between institutions, and strengthening traditional hadith criticism methodologies. Technology should function as a support to strengthen the foundation of hadith science, making hadith studies more efficient and accurate. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of Muhammad Iqbal's Islamic educational thoughts in facing the challenges of education in the modern era. Iqbal's thoughts that integrate the concepts of khudi (self), freedom of thought, and actualization of human potential, make an important contribution to the formation of individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent, but also have high character, creativity, and social awareness. In the midst of the development of globalization and technological advances, Islamic education faces various challenges, including mental colonization, dogmatism, and limitations of thought. In this context, Iqbal's thoughts on freedom and creativity in education become relevant as a solution to free Muslims from the shackles of limited thinking and encourage them to develop their potential to the maximum. This study uses a literature review method by collecting various literature related to Iqbal's thoughts and their application in Islamic education. The results of the study show that Iqbal's concepts can provide a new direction in developing Islamic education that is more inclusive, innovative, and responsive to the challenges of the times. Therefore, Iqbal's educational thoughts are very relevant to be implemented in the Islamic education system in the current era of globalization.
