Abstract

This article provides an in-depth analysis of Buya Hamka’s interpretation of Surah Al-Kawthar in his monumental work Tafsir Al-Azhar, focusing on the concept of gratitude born from existential experience behind prison bars. The study aims to uncover how Hamka’s spiritual and social experiences during his political imprisonment under Indonesia’s Old Order regime shaped his understanding of Surah Al-Kawthar. Employing a qualitative approach and content analysis method, this research explores the relationship between the exegetical text, biographical context, and moral message. The findings reveal that Hamka interprets Surah Al-Kawthar as a symbol of divine abundance that transcends material wealth, encompassing inner peace, faith, and spiritual resilience in the face of suffering. His interpretation asserts that true gratitude is not derived from worldly prosperity but from the awareness of God’s presence in every circumstance, including hardship. The article also highlights the socio-political relevance of Hamka’s exegesis and its contribution to the development of contextual Qur’anic interpretation in the modern Islamic world.

Abstract

Korupsi menjadi persoalan serius di Indonesia yang merusak tata kelola pemerintahan, supremasi hukum, dan kepercayaan publik, meskipun telah diterapkan regulasi dan lembaga penegak hukum. Praktik korupsi tetap berlangsung secara sistematis, sering dilakukan oleh individu berpendidikan dan menduduki posisi strategis, menunjukkan sifat rasional dalam pengambilan keputusan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis rasionalitas pelaku korupsi melalui perspektif teori kriminologi klasik, yang menekankan kebebasan memilih, perhitungan biaya-manfaat, dan upaya pencegahan sebagai landasan memahami perilaku kriminal. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi pustaka (library research) dengan mengkaji buku, jurnal ilmiah, undang-undang, laporan penelitian, dan dokumen resmi yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaku korupsi mempertimbangkan manfaat yang diperoleh lebih besar dibanding risiko hukuman, sementara kelemahan sistem pengawasan, celah birokrasi, dan minimnya akuntabilitas memperkuat sifat oportunistik tindakan mereka. Teori kriminologi klasik terbukti relevan untuk menjelaskan perilaku rasional tersebut, menyoroti kepastian, kecepatan, dan keparahan hukuman sebagai faktor pencegahan yang penting. Kesimpulan penelitian menekankan perlunya penguatan mekanisme hukum, strategi pencegahan, dan reformasi kebijakan antikorupsi, disertai pertimbangan faktor struktural dan institusional agar praktik korupsi dapat diminimalkan.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of student misbehavior, inhibiting factors, and strategies used by the principal to address student misbehavior at SMP Negeri Satu Atap Desa Teluk, Pemayung District, Batang Hari Regency. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that student misbehavior at this school included truancy, foul language, fighting, smoking, and bringing gadgets for purposes unrelated to learning. The main obstacles faced by the principal in addressing student misbehavior were a lack of parental involvement, limited guidance counselors, and weak coordination with external parties. The principal's strategies include preventive approaches (character building and discipline), curative approaches (guidance and educational sanctions), collaborative approaches (cooperation with teachers, parents, and the community), and guidance based on Islamic values and local wisdom. This study concludes that the success of principals' strategies greatly depends on managerial skills, exemplary behavior, and synergy among all components of education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the condition of Arabic language learning at Azizah Integrated Islamic Elementary School in Palembang, which still employs traditional methods (lecturing, question-and-answer, and direct method). These methods tend to be monotonous and lack creativity, resulting in students showing minimal enthusiasm, possessing passive vocabulary mastery, and facing difficulties in comprehensively using Arabic in their daily lives. Therefore, this study aims to test the effectiveness of combining innovative learning models, namely the Flipped Classroom and Cooperative Learning, to enhance the quality of Arabic language instruction. The specific objectives of this research are to determine the process of Arabic language learning both before and after the application of these models, and to measure the level of their effectiveness. This study employs a mixed methods approach. The quantitative approach utilizes a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest structure to assess the model's impact on learning outcomes. Meanwhile, the qualitative approach (observation and interviews) is used to explore the learning process and students' experiences. The independent variable (X) is the Flipped Classroom and Cooperative Learning model, and the dependent variable (Y) is the students' learning outcomes. The research findings indicate that before the application, learning in the fifth grade was traditional, leading to a lack of variation and student enthusiasm. Following the implementation of the Flipped Classroom and Cooperative Learning models, the learning process became more structured and active. Students independently studied materials (videos and digital resources) at home first, and subsequently deepened their understanding in class through collaborative group activities (discussions, dialogue practice, text reading, and simple sentence writing). The application of this integrated model successfully increased participation, initiative, and enthusiasm. Overall, the Flipped Classroom and Cooperative Learning models proved to be effective in improving Arabic language learning outcomes for fifth-grade students at Azizah Integrated Islamic Elementary School in Palembang.

Abstract

Teachers' performance is influenced by transactional leadership and principal supervision, as well as teachers' work motivation. This study aims to analyze the influence of Interpersonal communication and work environment on teacher performance with the mediation of job satisfaction. This study employs a quantitative method with a survey technique. The research population is all junior high school (SMP 6) teachers, Cilegon City. The research sample was determined using a proportional stratified random sampling technique with strata based on the level of teacher education. Data was collected using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Based on the results of the validity and reliability tests, all research instruments used in this study, namely the instruments for measuring the variables of Performance (Y), Transactional Leadership (X1), Supervision (X2), and Work Motivation (Z), have met the requirements. All items in each instrument have a calculated r value greater than the r table value (0.1816), indicating that all items have a significant correlation with the variable being measured, so that the instrument is considered valid. In addition, all instruments have an Alpha coefficient value greater than 0.8, indicating that the instrument has a high level of reliability, so that the measurement results can be trusted and consistent. Thus, the research instruments used in this study can be said to be valid and reliable, so they are suitable for use in research to measure the predetermined variables.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of interactive Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing Arabic listening skills (maharah istimā‘) among students at MTs Alif Laam Miim Surabaya. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research investigates how Google AI Studio and Pipit AI support the development of students’ auditory comprehension through multimodal learning experiences. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The findings show that AI integration significantly improves students’ motivation, engagement, and listening comprehension. Google AI Studio provides clear and repetitive Arabic audio with near-native pronunciation, while Pipit AI generates contextualized video avatars that strengthen semantic understanding through visual cues. These multimodal features help students recognize phonetic patterns, infer meaning, and maintain sustained focus during learning. The study also identifies several supporting factors, including teacher competence in designing AI-based instruction and students’ positive attitudes toward digital media. However, challenges remain in the form of unstable internet connectivity, occasional unclear AI-generated audio, and the need for pedagogical supervision to ensure information validity. Overall, interactive AI serves as an effective complementary tool that enhances phonetic accuracy, contextual understanding, and learner autonomy in Arabic listening instruction. This research contributes empirically to the integration of AI-mediated listening pedagogy at the secondary Islamic education level and provides a model for future curriculum innovation in Arabic language learning.

Abstract

This article analyzes deep learning as an existential process that positions students as free, conscious, and reflective individuals within the learning experience. Through a literature review of core existential concepts and humanistic educational approaches, the study highlights that deep learning goes beyond conceptual understanding toward meaning-making, identity formation, and the development of personal authenticity. These principles align with Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar curriculum, which emphasizes learner autonomy, independence, and holistic development. Deep learning enables students to connect knowledge with personal experiences, making the learning process more meaningful and relevant to their lives. Teachers serve as existential facilitators who create dialogic, reflective, and humanistic learning environments where knowledge is offered as lived experience rather than imposed content. The findings indicate that integrating existential perspectives with deep learning contributes to a humanizing educational ecosystem that fosters self-awareness, personal responsibility, and reflective capability in students. Thus, education functions not merely as the transmission of knowledge but as a transformative process that guides learners toward becoming authentic individuals who are aware of their existence and the meaning behind their learning experiences. Abstract

This study aims to solve transportation problems by applying the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) approach using two primary algorithms, namely Kruskal’s algorithm and Prim’s algorithm, to obtain an optimal solution. Both algorithms are part of graph theory and are used to determine the minimum spanning structure of a connected network. The Kruskal algorithm begins by sorting the edge weights in ascending order and then selecting the smallest edges sequentially until all vertices are connected without forming a cycle. In contrast, Prim’s algorithm starts by selecting an arbitrary initial vertex and then repeatedly adding the edge with the smallest cost that connects a new vertex to the growing tree. In the context of transportation problems, both algorithms are employed to minimize the total distribution cost based on the relationship between supply sources and demand destinations. The results of the study indicate that the MST approach using Prim’s algorithm performs more efficiently than Kruskal’s algorithm in terms of achieving a lower optimal solution value and requiring fewer iterations. Therefore, Prim’s algorithm can be recommended as a more effective method for optimizing transportation problems based on tree graph structures

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the process of internalizing the values of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the flagship program MOSA Patri Religi Go to IMAN at SDN Mojorejo 1 Kota Batu. This program is developed as an effort to strengthen the character of students through five main pillars, namely patriotism, religiosity, mutual cooperation, integrity, and independence, which are aligned with the Pancasila Student Profile. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with the school principal, PAI teachers, program coordinators, and documentation of various school activities. The research results show that the internalization of PAI values occurs through three stages: value transformation, value transaction, and transinternalization. In the value transformation stage, teachers introduce values through learning and exemplary behavior. In the value transaction stage, students actively participate in activities such as congregational prayer, PAP, flag ceremonies, class duties, community service, and scouting. Meanwhile, in the transinternalization stage, these values are reflected in daily behaviors such as independence, discipline, social concern, honesty, and religious attitudes that emerge spontaneously. This program has proven to have a positive impact on strengthening the aspects of faith, worship, and morals of students, as well as forming a strong social-national character. Program evaluation is conducted periodically through observation of student behavior, attitude assessment, and communication with parents. Overall, the MOSA Patri Religi Go to IMAN program is effective as a holistic model for cultivating PAI values and has the potential to be replicated by other schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of logistical-mathematical intelligence and critical thinking skills on the learning outcomes of elementary school students in basic statistics. This study is based on the fact that most students still experience difficulties in mathematics, especially in understanding basic statistics material, which is indicated by low learning outcomes. This study used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto research type and correlational design. The study population was grade VI-A students at SDN 07 Pinang Sebatang Barat in the 2025/2026 academic year, with a sample of 30 students selected through a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included a logistical-mathematical intelligence test and a critical thinking ability test, as well as a basic statistics learning outcome test. The results showed that (1) logistical-mathematical intelligence had a positive effect on students' basic statistics learning outcomes, (2) critical thinking ability had a positive effect on students' basic statistics learning outcomes, and (3) simultaneously, logistical-mathematical intelligence and critical thinking ability had a significant effect on basic statistics learning outcomes. Thus, it can be concluded that the combination of logistical-mathematical intelligence and critical thinking ability plays an important role in broadening students' insight into basic statistics material.
