Abstract

Coastal ecosystem degradation caused by abrasion and human activities has become a serious issue in many coastal areas, including Bacu Village. Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting shorelines, sequestering carbon, and providing habitats for marine organisms. A community service program through the Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) initiative was implemented as a conservation effort as well as community empowerment. The methods consisted of three main stages: seedling preparation, land preparation, and the planting of Rhizophora mucronata and Rhizophora stylosa mangroves. The results showed the successful planting of 2,000 seedlings with a survival rate of approximately 85% after one month. Furthermore, community participation, particularly among fishermen and youth groups, increased significantly, reflecting a shift from passive to more active involvement in coastal environmental protection. This activity proved to deliver ecological benefits by reducing abrasion rates and socio-economic benefits through potential mangrove-based ecotourism. Therefore, the mangrove planting program in Bacu Village is considered effective in strengthening coastal ecosystem resilience and enhancing community awareness of environmental conservation.

Abstract

Learning of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in elementary schools has not been optimal in developing students’ creativity and critical thinking skills. This condition results in relatively limited cognitive engagement. This study aimed to analyze and evaluate differences in students’ creativity and critical thinking skills in IPAS through the implementation of coding-based learning using the ScratchJr application. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent post-test only control group design was employed. The subjects consisted of 31 students in the experimental group and 27 students in the control group, selected through class-level random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires, thinking skills tests, and learning observations, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and MANOVA. The results showed that the creativity of the experimental group (M = 76.58) was higher than that of the control group (M = 60.44) and differed significantly (F = 57.773; p < 0.001). MANOVA results indicated a significant simultaneous difference (Wilks’ Λ = 0.486; F = 29.06; p < 0.001). In conclusion, ScratchJr-based coding learning strengthens students’ creativity and critical thinking skills. The implication is that this approach is relevant to be integrated as an innovative learning strategy.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping students’ tolerant and moderate attitudes within Indonesia’s multicultural society. The subject of Aqidah Akhlak has significant potential as a medium for internalizing multicultural values, as it is directly oriented toward the formation of students’ beliefs and behaviors in everyday life. Therefore, strengthening values such as tolerance, brotherhood, justice, and religious moderation is essential in Aqidah Akhlak learning in madrasah. This study aims to analyze the multicultural values contained in Aqidah Akhlak textbooks, examine the learning strategies used in their implementation, and identify the challenges encountered in Aqidah Akhlak learning at Madrasah Aliyah Putri PUI Majalengka. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Aqidah Akhlak teachers, participatory classroom observation, and documentation analysis of Aqidah Akhlak textbooks. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that multicultural values such as tolerance (tasāmuh), brotherhood (ukhuwah), social justice, and religious moderation (Islam wasathiyah) have been systematically integrated into both textbooks and learning practices. The implementation of these values is carried out through integrative and contextual learning strategies, including reflective discussions, socio-religious case studies, group work, role-playing, teacher exemplification, and habituation. Nevertheless, this study highlights a research gap, as existing studies on multicultural education have largely focused on general subjects and learning strategies, while in-depth analyses of multicultural value content in Aqidah Akhlak textbooks at the Madrasah Aliyah level remain limited.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a crucial higher-order thinking skill that should be fostered from the early years of elementary education, particularly in mathematics learning. Nevertheless, existing instructional practices in elementary schools often rely on teacher-centered approaches and provide limited integration of digital learning media, resulting in underdeveloped critical thinking skills among students. This study offers by integrating the AIR (Auditory, Intellectually, Repetition) learning model with VIMABEL (Video Matematika Belajar), a video-based instructional medium specifically designed for lower-grade elementary students. The study aims to examine both the differences and the effect of this integrated approach on students’ mathematical critical thinking skills. A quantitative quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was employed. Participants were third-grade students at SD Negeri Suruh 01, assigned to an experimental group using the AIR model assisted by VIMABEL and a control group using the AIR model without media support. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, observations, and questionnaires, and analyzed using prerequisite tests, independent sample t-tests. The results demonstrate a significant difference in critical thinking skills between the two groups, as well as a significant positive effect of the AIR learning model assisted by VIMABEL on students’ mathematical critical thinking abilities. These findings highlight the potential of integrating structured learning models with contextually designed video media as an innovative and effective strategy to enhance critical thinking skills in elementary mathematics education.

Abstract

The low level of numeracy literacy among elementary school students remains a major issue in mathematics learning, particularly in topics related to three dimensional shapes and scale, which tend to be abstract and lack contextual relevance. One effort to address this issue is the implementation of meaningful and contextual learning rooted in local culture. This study aims to improve the numeracy literacy of fifth-grade elementary school students through the implementation of an ethnomathematics-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model integrating Rumah Kajang Lako in the topics of three-dimensional shapes and scale. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a mixed-methods approach, conducted in two cycles through the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were students of class V B at SD Negeri 34/1 Teratai Muara Bulian. Data collection techniques included numeracy literacy tests, observation of student activities, student response questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using percentages of learning mastery and improvement in learning outcomes, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing with triangulation of techniques and sources. The results indicate that the implementation of the ethnomathematics based PjBL model integrating Rumah Kajang Lako significantly improves students’ numeracy literacy, both in quantitative and spatial competencies. In addition, students’ responses to the learning process demonstrate increased learning motivation, collaboration skills, mathematical modeling abilities, and positive learning reflection. Therefore, the ethnomathematics-based PjBL model integrating Rumah Kajang Lako is effective as an alternative contextual learning approach to enhance numeracy literacy among elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of syntactic errors in sentence structures found in anecdotal texts written by tenth-grade students of SMA Nurcahaya. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data consisted of students’ written anecdotal texts collected through a writing test. The research subjects were 12 students of class X at SMA Nurcahaya. Data collection techniques included reading and note-taking, while data analysis was conducted by identifying, classifying, and describing syntactic errors found in the students’ writings. The results of the study indicate that various syntactic errors were found in the sentence structures of the students’ anecdotal texts. These errors include mistakes in subjects, predicates, direct objects, indirect objects, benefactive objects, subject attributes, object attributes, and predicate complements. The most frequent errors were the use of non-standard words, incorrect placement of sentence elements, omission of obligatory sentence components, and improper use of affixes according to Indonesian grammatical rules. These errors were influenced by students’ limited understanding of standard sentence structures, the influence of spoken language, and the use of foreign terms.
