Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a learning device based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) integrated with the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework in developing 21st-century skills among sixth-grade elementary students. The developed learning device consists of a Teaching Module, Student Worksheets (LKPD), and assessment tools for evaluating the four core 21st-century skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication). The research employed the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation was carried out through a limited trial at SDN Lamajang 03 and a wider trial in four elementary schools within the Lamajang cluster, involving a total of 181 students. The effectiveness of the device was measured using N-Gain analysis based on students’ pre- and post-learning 21st-century skill scores. The findings indicate that the PBL–TPACK–based learning device is effective in enhancing students’ 21st-century skills. In the limited trial, the average 4C score increased from 2.34 to 3.77, categorized as moderate to high improvement. In the wider trial, the score increased from 2.84 to 3.87, categorized as high improvement. The integration of PBL and TPACK successfully created active, collaborative, and contextual learning experiences, contributing positively to student competence development in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum. These results confirm that the PBL–TPACK–based learning device is both feasible and effective for use in elementary IPAS learning.

Abstract

This article aims to conceptually examine the integration of teacher human resource development (HRD) management based on Islamic ethics in managing workplace conflict to enhance teacher professionalism, particularly in excellent madrasahs. This study employs a literature review approach by analyzing theories, concepts, and previous empirical studies related to teacher human resource development, Islamic ethics, workplace conflict management, and teacher professionalism within the context of madrasah education. The findings indicate that teacher professionalism is not solely determined by pedagogical and professional competencies, but also by the internalization of Islamic ethical values that shape work attitudes, moral integrity, and the ability to manage workplace conflicts constructively. Islamic ethics function as both a normative and strategic foundation underpinning teacher human resource development and conflict management practices in madrasah institutions. This review also identifies a research gap, particularly the limited number of studies that comprehensively integrate teacher human resource development, Islamic ethics, and workplace conflict management within a single conceptual framework, especially in the context of excellent madrasahs that face high performance standards and complex organizational dynamics. Therefore, this article proposes a conceptual framework as a theoretical foundation for future empirical research and the development of Islamic educational management practices.

Abstract

Teaching English to children aged 3–5 years presents unique challenges related to their developmental characteristics, particularly in non-formal early childhood education settings. This study aims to explore the challenges faced by English teachers in teaching young learners at PPA Krammer Hilina'a. A descriptive qualitative research design was employed to obtain an in-depth understanding of classroom practices and teacher experiences. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations involving one teacher/student practitioner responsible for teaching English for Young Learners (EYL). The data were analyzed thematically to identify key challenges and instructional responses. The findings reveal that teachers face significant pedagogical difficulties, including children’s limited ability to understand abstract concepts, rapid memory loss, and interference from the first language (L1). Classroom management emerged as the most prominent challenge, characterized by short attention spans, high energy levels, and ineffective transitions between learning activities. To address these challenges, teachers implemented visual-based learning strategies, such as flashcards and presentation slides, combined with emotional and patient interaction and direct engagement with students. These approaches contributed to improved learner participation and confidence. The study concludes that teaching English to very young learners in non-formal educational contexts requires developmentally appropriate strategies and strong classroom management skills. Therefore, targeted training in early childhood pedagogy and English for Young Learners is recommended to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Abstract

School-aged juvenile deliquency is a social phenomenon that continues to increase and become a serious challenge to the world of education, especially in the Semarang City area. Various forms of deviant behavior such as violence, illegal racing, and low self-control in adolescents indicate that formal education has not been fully able to shape the character and morals of students comprehensively. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic boarding school-based madrasa curriculum management as a preventive solution in overcoming delinquency in school-aged juveniles, by emphasizing the integration of academic education and religious character development. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and conceptual analysis of curriculum management practices in Islamic boarding school-based madrasas at MA Al Musyaffa' Semarang. The results of this study indicate that planned, integrated curriculum management, and orientation towards Islamic boarding school values such as discipline, exemplary behavior, habituation of worship, and strengthening of morals play a significant role in shaping adolescent self-control and social behavior. The implication is that lessons are more easily absorbed by students, learning outcomes can be completed well, and the resulting output is of high quality. Mastery of the yellow books (kitab kuning), Arabic and English language, and memorization of 30 chapters (juz) Holy Quran within six months, which are prioritized, have achieved a 95% success rate. Thus, the Islamic boarding school-based madrasa curriculum management at MA Al Musyaffa' Semarang has strategic potential as a preventative measure against juvenile delinquency through a holistic, sustainable educational approach based on moral and spiritual values. Keywords: Juvenile deliquency, madrasa curriculum, Islamic boarding school.
