Abstract

This research aims to evaluate school environment conditions at SMA Negeri 1 Padaido using the Discrepancy Evaluation Model to identify gaps between ideal standards and actual conditions. In-depth interviews with twenty informants, 40 hours of participatory observation, and documentation study were employed using a qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews with 29 informants, 40 hours of participatory observation, and documentation study. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis with MAXQDA 2022 software and validated through method triangulation and member checking. Results revealed significant discrepancies across five evaluation stages: design (22%), installation (34%), process (28%), product (31%), and cost-benefit (19%). The highest gaps were identified in sanitation facilities, with structural damage, and digital learning resource access, where only 28% of students have regular internet access. Based on Priority Index analysis, four priority intervention dimensions are sanitation-health facilities (PI=0.56), learning infrastructure (PI=0.41), social-emotional climate (PI=0.30), and digital access (PI=0.27). This research recommends developing medium-term development roadmaps, establishing a Quality Assurance Team, implementing participatory planning, and strengthening data-based advocacy to obtain adequate resource allocation for creating quality learning environments.

Abstract

Rapid technological advances are driving the world of education, particularly at the elementary school level, to reform the learning process. In reality, teaching and learning activities often rely on conventional approaches that tend to make students less active, resulting in low motivation and understanding of the material. This study aims to examine the use of interactive animated video media as a learning tool that can improve the motivation and learning outcomes of elementary school students. The method used is a literature study by reviewing various scientific sources, such as journal articles, reference books, and research reports relevant to the research topic. The collected data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively through the stages of sorting information, grouping data, and drawing comprehensive conclusions. The results show that the application of interactive animated video can create a more interesting and enjoyable learning atmosphere, increase student learning interest, and help them understand learning concepts more clearly. In addition, this media is considered effective in presenting abstract material in a more concrete way and is able to accommodate differences in student learning styles, thus contributing positively to improving the quality of learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning model on students’ activeness and learning outcomes in the IPAS subject at the elementary school level through a literature review approach. Data were obtained from various relevant studies on the implementation of STAD in IPAS learning. The findings indicate that STAD effectively enhances student activeness through heterogeneous group work, peer tutoring, and individual evaluation, which encourage participation and learning responsibility. Moreover, STAD improves learning outcomes, critical thinking skills, and student motivation. However, its implementation requires teachers’ readiness in managing time, group dynamics, and consistent assessment. Overall, the review confirms that STAD is a viable instructional model to improve the quality of IPAS learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

Sexual knowledge in early childhood is an essential aspect of children’s development, particularly in fostering awareness of the body and personal boundaries. However, sexual education for young children is often perceived as a taboo topic and is not always delivered using learning media that align with children’s developmental characteristics. This study aimed to examine the effect of paper doll media on the sexual knowledge of children aged 5–6 years at TK Nurul Khoir, Jambi City. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a one group pretest–posttest model. The research participants consisted of 17 children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through observation using a validated sexual knowledge observation sheet and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the mean score of children’s sexual knowledge from 17.706 in the pretest to 29.647 in the posttest, with a mean difference of 11.941. The paired sample t-test revealed a calculated t value of 36.608, which was higher than the t table value of 2.131, indicating that the use of paper doll media had a positive and significant effect on early childhood sexual knowledge. These findings suggest that paper doll media, which are concrete, visual, and role-play–based, are effective learning tools for introducing sexual knowledge to young children in an age-appropriate and developmentally suitable manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning activeness of third-grade students at SDN Handil Bakti through the implementation of a cooperative learning model. The low level of student participation in asking questions, answering questions, and interacting during lessons served as the background of this research. The method employed was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers and students, and a review of learning-related documents. The results indicate that the implementation of the STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) type of cooperative learning model significantly increased students’ learning activeness. Of the 28 students, 75% began to actively ask questions and participate in discussions after the second week of implementation. The frequency of student questions increased from 3–4 questions to 12–15 questions per session. Students’ physical, mental, cognitive, and emotional engagement also improved, as reflected in their enthusiasm during group discussions, their ability to collaboratively solve problems (85.7% of groups were successful), and their active involvement in manipulating instructional materials (80% of students). However, several challenges were identified, including the dominance of higher-achieving students and time constraints. Strategies such as clear role distribution within groups and consistent teacher guidance proved effective in addressing these obstacles. Overall, this study strengthens the evidence that cooperative learning is a relevant and effective approach to enhancing learning activeness at the elementary school level.
