Abstract

This study examines the utilization of TikTok as a medium for introducing Qur’anic verses to early childhood learners and analyzes its potential and challenges within the context of Islamic education. The research is motivated by the increasing exposure of young children to digital media, which presents both educational opportunities and pedagogical risks. This study employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected from scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant academic publications on Qur’anic learning, digital media, and early childhood development. The findings indicate that TikTok has the potential to function as a supportive medium for introducing Qur’anic verses through its audio-visual features, short video duration, and repetition mechanisms that align with early childhood learning characteristics. However, its use requires strict content selection, parental and teacher supervision, and reinforcement of proper etiquette in Qur’anic learning to avoid distraction, superficial understanding, and the loss of the sacred value of the Qur’an. With appropriate management, TikTok can serve as an effective complementary medium for Qur’anic education in early childhood.

Abstract

This study aims to improve first-grade students’ numeracy skills in subtraction operations at MI Ma’arif Kediwung through the implementation of the role-playing method. The research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design using a cyclical model consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants were 10 first-grade students, comprising five boys and five girls. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed by calculating mean scores, learning mastery percentages, and N-Gain, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicated a consistent improvement with a moderate gain category. The class mean score increased from 62 in the pre-cycle to 73 in Cycle I and 85 in Cycle II, while the percentage of students achieving mastery improved from 30% to 90%. The buying-and-selling role-play simulation using coin media helped students understand subtraction concepts in a concrete and contextual manner. Therefore, the role-playing method proved effective in enhancing early-grade students’ numeracy skills and may serve as an alternative instructional strategy for mathematics learning in Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

One of the educational problems that has become a priority is the quality of education. From the various problems in the field, the effort we can make is to develop student-centered learning. Based on observations conducted at SMA Negeri 15 Medan, many teachers tend to use an expository model and assign individual tasks rather than group work in the classroom learning process. Most of the homework completed by students tends to have the same answers. Data obtained from the mathematics teacher indicates that student learning outcomes are still relatively low, as seen from the results of the odd semester final exam 2023/2024, where 58% of students scored below 70. This is caused by a lack of understanding and mastery of the material, so the learning outcomes achieved are not yet satisfactory. Therefore, teachers must choose a learning implementation that can make the material meaningful to students. One alternative for selecting a learning strategy is reciprocal learning assisted by open-ended questions. This study aims to determine whether the use of the Reciprocal Learning strategy can improve students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This study is a Classroom Action Research using Reciprocal Learning with four main activities, namely questioning, clarifying, predicting, and summarizing/reviewing, with stages including: planning, implementation, monitoring, and reflection carried out in several cycles. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 15 Medan in class XI IPA. Data collection techniques were through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies applied by teachers in Al-Qur'an tilawah extracurricular activities through nagham for tenth-grade students at SMAN 3 Baubau, as well as to identify the challenges faced and the efforts made by the teacher to address them. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, and validated through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the teacher applies six systematically integrated strategies, encompassing gradual nagham introduction starting from maqam Bayyati, step-by-step learning using short verses with one nagham per session, direct demonstration covering tonal variations and breathing techniques, nagham accuracy training through repeated and example-based correction, individual student ability mapping as the basis for personalized guidance, and independent practice assignments as learning extensions. The identified challenges include limited time allocation, low student self-confidence, technical difficulties in nagham mastery, heterogeneity in students prior reading abilities, and inconsistent independent practice. These challenges were addressed through material prioritization, a supportive learning atmosphere, personal mentoring, and motivational reinforcement. These findings contribute to the development of an adaptive nagham tilawah learning model in public schools, while also supporting the fourth SDGs goal on quality education through the cultivation of students religious character, self-confidence, and discipline.

Abstract

This study is based on the phenomenon of low student engagement at SMP Nusaputera Semarang in participating in music learning, particularly in theoretical subjects such as the History of Music Development. This condition is characterized by limited student participation in discussions, minimal responses to teacher questions, and a tendency for students to remain passive during the learning process. This research aims to analyze how the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can optimize students' critical thinking skills in the topic of the History of Music Development. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method to describe how the PBL syntax can develop the critical thinking skills of eighth-grade students. The results show that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is able to stimulate students' cognitive abilities in identifying the characteristics of musical works in each era, as well as providing examples of composers and well-known works from each period. Group discussion activities and independent inquiry in PBL have proven to encourage active student engagement and develop students’ critical thinking skills in a deeper and more systematic way.
