Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers' efforts in developing students' critical thinking skills through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in social studies learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods, by reviewing various scientific articles and other relevant sources. The results of the study indicate that students' critical thinking skills can be improved through the application of PjBL which emphasizes project-based activities, problem solving and active student involvement. Teachers' efforts in this regard include: 1) Planning project-based learning that is relevant to real life; 2) Encouraging students to be active in investigation and problem solving; 3) Creating an active, collaborative and conducive learning environment; 4) Providing appropriate guidance during the learning process; 5) Process and product-based assessment; and 6) Providing high-level questions. In addition, various studies have shown that PjBL is effective in improving students' analytical, evaluation and decision-making skills. However, the implementation of PjBL also faces challenges such as limited time, teacher readiness, and infrastructure. Therefore, it is necessary to improve teacher competence and support from various parties, to optimize the implementation of this model. Thus, it can be concluded that project-based learning is an effective learning model for developing students' critical thinking skills in social studies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in creating engaging learning, particularly in a pluralistic educational environment. Teachers are required to be able to use appropriate learning approaches so that students have enthusiasm and motivation in participating in the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to determine: (1) the strategies of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in dealing with students who are lazy to learn, and (2) the inhibiting and supporting factors in the implementation of these strategies. This study uses a descriptive research type with a qualitative approach. The research data sources are Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers and class V.A students of SD Negeri 154 Mangkulande, East Luwu Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the study indicate that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers' strategies in dealing with students who are lazy to learn are carried out through individual, collaborative, and inclusive approaches. Teachers strive to understand student characteristics, create a pleasant learning atmosphere, and use varied learning methods that are relevant to everyday life. Supporting factors include the creation of a positive learning environment, the use of interesting methods, and the existence of interaction and collaboration in learning. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include low student interest and motivation, lack of understanding of the material, and limited interaction between teachers and students. Therefore, ongoing efforts by teachers are needed to create effective and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low news writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Junjung Sirih. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem-Solving learning model on these students' news writing skills. This study used a quantitative, quasi-experimental method using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample size for this study was 32 students. Data were collected through news writing tests before (pretest) and after (posttest) the Problem-Solving model was administered. The results showed that the average student writing ability score increased from 62.34 in the pretest (poor category) to 79.62 in the posttest (good category). This average increase was 17.28, and the posttest score exceeded the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 75. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Solving learning model has a significant and effective effect on improving students' news writing skills.

Abstract

This study examines mentor strategies in shaping students’ moral character at SMA Boarding School of Sekolah Islam Athirah Bukit Baruga Makassar. The objectives of this research are to: (1) analyze the moral characteristics of students in the boarding school environment; (2) identify the strategies employed by mentors in fostering students’ morality; and (3) explore the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing the implementation of these strategies. This study adopts a qualitative research approach, which allows for an in-depth exploration and interpretation of data related to the research focus. Data were analyzed to reveal patterns of thought and practices applied by mentors in shaping students’ moral behavior within the boarding school context. The findings indicate that: (1) students’ moral character in the boarding environment is dynamic and diverse, influenced by differences in regional background, culture, and family upbringing; (2) mentors implement five primary strategies in fostering students’ morality, namely role modeling (uswah hasanah), habituation, motivation, disciplinary consequences, and prayer; and (3) supporting factors include the consistent implementation of rules and strong collaboration among dormitory staff, school authorities, and parents, while inhibiting factors include low self-awareness, lack of motivation for self-improvement, and students’ unstable psychological conditions during identity formation.

Abstract

The low level of students’ awareness toward school environmental cleanliness remains a challenge in character building at SMAN 1 Lasusua. Although students generally understand the importance of cleanliness cognitively, they often fail to implement it in their daily behavior. Therefore, this Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve students’ awareness through the role modeling of students involved in the Field Experience Program (PLP). The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involves PLP students, mentor teachers, and students collaboratively through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Role modeling is implemented through the habituation of positive behaviors such as discipline, responsibility, empathy, and environmental awareness. The results show significant behavioral changes, including increased concern for school cleanliness, improved empathy among students, and stronger responsibility and active participation in learning activities. In addition, a more conducive classroom environment and sustainable positive habits were established. Thus, the role modeling of PLP students is proven to be an effective strategy in enhancing students’ awareness, particularly when implemented consistently and supported by a conducive school environment.

Abstract

The lack of basic writing skills in elementary school students is often caused by teaching methods that are too theory-oriented and do not provide a useful practical context. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Systematic Analytical Structure (SAS) Technique as a tool in improving the quality of neat writing in early grade students. The approach used is a literature review through data analysis from various accredited journals and pedagogical guidebooks. The results of the study indicate that the SAS technique, which starts from complete sentences, then breaks them down into analytical elements (words, syllables, letters), and re-arranges them in a structured manner, greatly helps students understand language structure in a logical manner. The study concludes that the SAS technique is very effective in accelerating the process of learning to write because it is in accordance with the stages of children's cognitive development based on Gestalt psychology theory. This approach not only improves writing accuracy but also forms systematic thinking patterns in students from an early age.

Abstract

Science learning in 3T areas (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions) continues to face various limitations, particularly in the availability of contextual teaching materials and practice-based learning approaches. This study aims to develop and describe the AgroScience Kids Lab model as an environmental-based innovation in science learning at the elementary school level. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at SD Inpres Tambat, Merauke. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the AgroScience Kids Lab model consists of four main components: (1) thematic educational gardens as living laboratories, (2) contextual science experiment media, (3) a mini seed bank, and (4) an Outdoor Science Corner. This model enhances student engagement, experiential understanding of scientific concepts, and awareness of food security and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the model demonstrates strong potential as an innovative learning approach that is adaptable to resource-limited conditions in 3T regions.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Civic Education (PPKn) teachers in addressing juvenile delinquency in schools. The research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study included PPKn teachers, principals, homeroom teachers, and students at SMAS Arjuna Bandar Lampung. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using triangulation techniques to ensure data credibility. The results indicate that PPKn teachers play a significant role in tackling juvenile delinquency through several strategies, including providing role models, integrating moral and ethical values in learning, fostering discipline, and collaborating with other school stakeholders and parents. In addition, personal approaches and guidance toward problematic students contribute to behavioral improvement. Therefore, it can be concluded that PPKn teachers have a crucial role in shaping students’ character and preventing juvenile delinquency in the school environment

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model on students’ mathematical problem solving abilities and to determine the classical completeness of students’ mathematical problem solving abilities, namely by using the discovery learning miodel, whether it is better than ordinary learning. This study was conducted at Daya Cipta Middle School using two classes, namely class VIII-1 as an experimental class that will be given the model and class VIII-2 as a control class with ordinary learning models. The type of research used is a quasi experimental. Data collection techniques used ared are pretest and posttest questions. The results showed the both samples had a significant influence with an average pretetst score of 31.59 and a posttest score in the experimental class of 81.73 an average pretest score of 31.99 and a posttest score in the control class of 63.33. The statistical test used was the one-way anova test which showed that the discovery learning model was better than the ordinary learning model in terms of mathematical problem solving abilities and the classical completeness of students who were given the discovery learning model was better than the class given the ordinary learning model in terms of mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characteristics of early childhood learning styles and explore how teachers accommodate these differences in the learning process at RA Nur Qomariah Jampangtengah, Sukabumi. Although numerous studies have examined the influence of learning styles on learning outcomes, limited research has qualitatively explored the contextual implementation of learning style accommodation in Islamic early childhood education settings. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving Group B students and classroom teachers as primary informants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that children demonstrate diverse learning styles, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, with kinesthetic tendencies being the most dominant. Children showed higher engagement and comprehension when learning activities involved direct experience and play-based interaction. The study also indicates that while teachers have attempted to implement varied instructional strategies to accommodate these differences, challenges remain in terms of limited learning media and class size. This research contributes empirically to the understanding of differentiated learning practices in RA contexts by highlighting the importance of flexible and integrative instructional design. The findings suggest that integrating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements in a balanced manner can foster a more inclusive and developmentally appropriate learning environment in early childhood education.
