Abstract

This study aims to develop a literacy corner to improve students’ basic literacy skills namely reading literacy, science literacy, and mathematics literacy at SD Negeri 1 Gulak Galik in Bandar Lampung. This study employs a research and development (R&D) methodology, comprising the stages of needs analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The research instruments consist of observation sheets to assess teachers’ and students’ responses, an expert validation questionnaire, and literacy assessment items covering reading literacy, science literacy, and mathematics literacy, which were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The research results show that the validation by education experts yielded a score of 86% in the “highly acceptable” category, while the validation by literacy experts yielded a score of 90% in the “highly acceptable” category. Teachers’ responses regarding the use of the literacy corner yielded a score of 88% in the “very good” category, and students’ responses yielded a score of 84% in the “very good” category. The results of the effectiveness test showed an average score of 68.5 in the “Moderate” category; observations during implementation indicated an increase in students’ enthusiasm, reading interest, and independent reading habits, which positively impacted their literacy skills. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the developed literacy corner is appropriate and beneficial for supporting the improvement of students’ literacy skills and can be implemented sustainably in elementary schools.

Abstract

Interactive learning media based on animated videos has an attractive visual appeal that can stimulate students to analyze, think, be motivated, and enhance students' interest in learning. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness and impact of using interactive learning media in social studies (IPS) to increase students' interest in learning. The subjects of this research consisted of 29 fifth-grade students at SD S Tiga Hati Kepenuhan Hulu. This study utilized classroom action research (CAR) methods obtained through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed an increase in students' interest in learning in each cycle, with the highest success rate in cycle II at 94% (very good) and the lowest in the pre-cycle at 39.9% (poor). This research can be concluded as successful and effective in enhancing students' interest in learning.

Abstract

The normal distribution is a fundamental concept in statistics and serves as the basis for various parametric analytical techniques commonly used in educational research. It enables researchers to understand data patterns, assess student performance, and ensure the accuracy of analytical outcomes. This study employs a literature review by analyzing scientific sources related to the normal distribution, normality testing techniques, and their applications in educational research. The findings indicate that the normal distribution functions as a theoretical foundation, a tool for empirical data analysis, and an instructional medium through visualization. Several techniques—such as Shapiro–Wilk, Kolmogorov–Smirnov, and Anderson–Darling are applied to evaluate data suitability prior to further analysis. These results highlight the importance of normality assessment in ensuring the validity of research findings in education.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the need for innovative learning media in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in elementary schools, specifically to help students understand abstract moral values and enhance their motivation to learn. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the MADANI (Media Dakwah Nilai Islam) Educational Website as a learning medium for third-grade elementary school students. The method used is Design and Development (D&D) based on the ADDIE model, which comprises five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, validation sheets, tests (pre-tests and post-tests), and student response questionnaires. The results indicate that the MADANI website is highly feasible based on expert validation regarding content, design, and ease of use. Implementation results show a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, evidenced by higher post-test scores compared to pre-test scores. Furthermore, student responses to the website’s use were highly positive, indicating increased motivation, engagement, and interest in learning. Thus, the MADANI website has proven to be an innovative and effective digital learning medium that supports meaningful learning and helps students understand and apply moral values in their daily lives.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students’ problem-solving skills through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by LiveWorksheet on the digestive system topic. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 25 students of class VIII D at Junior High School 1 Paciran in the 2025/2026 academic year. The research instrument consisted of essay tests based on Polya’s problem-solving indicators, namely understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Data analysis was conducted using the N-gain test and and paired statistical tes to determine the improvement in students’ problem-solving skills. The results showed that students’ problem-solving skills improved after the implementation of the learning model. A total of 56% of students were categorized as high, while 44% were in the medium category. Furthermore, the N-gain results for each indicator showed improvement with medium to high categories, namely understanding the problem (0.63), devising a plan (0.60), carrying out the plan (0.71), and looking back (0.73). Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PBL model assisted by LiveWorksheet is effective in improving students’ problem-solving skills.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the coolmath4kids website on the mathematical quick calculation ability of students in the second grade at SD Muhammadiyah Perumnas, Makassar. The research problem in this study is whether there is an effect of using the coolmath4kids website on the ability of students in the second grade at SD Muhammadiyah Perumnas to calculate quickly. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study is all the students in Year 2 at SD Muhammadiyah Perumnas, with a sample of 23 students selected using the total sampling technique. Data was collected through a learning outcomes test given before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the intervention. The research instrument was a learning outcome test (pretest and posttest) as well as a sheet to observe student activity. Data analysis techniques used statistic descriptive and inferential with the help of SPSS 25. The data normality test was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, which showed that the pretest and posttest data were normally distributed. The hypothesis test used was paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed an increase in the average score from 51.13 (pre-test) to 89.35 (post-test). The paired samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It can therefore be concluded that the use of the web media coolmath4kids has a significant impact on students' ability to quickly calculate in class II at SD Muhammadiyah Perumnas.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of using YouTube videos from the channel “Learn English with Bob the Canadian” on students’ vocabulary mastery. Vocabulary is an essential component in learning English because it supports students in developing their language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. However, many students still face difficulties in mastering vocabulary due to limited exposure and lack of engaging learning media. Therefore, the use of YouTube videos was considered as an alternative learning medium to help students improve their vocabulary mastery.This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental research design. The population of this study was 63 students on tenth grade of Yos Sudarso National High School. The sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class 30 and the control class 30 this taken using purposive sampling.The data were collected through vocabulary tests in the form of pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using statistical analysis, including normality test, homogeneity test, and Independent Samples T-test.The results of the study showed that the t-test value was –0.867, while the t-table value was 2.001 at the significance level of 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 58. Since the t-test value was lower than the t-table value (–0.867 < 2.001) and the significance value was 0.389 which is greater than 0.05, the null hypothesis (H₀) was accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was rejected. This means that the use of YouTube videos “Learn English with Bob the Canadian” did not have a statistically significant effect on students’ vocabulary mastery.However, the descriptive results indicated that both classes experienced improvement in their vocabulary scores after the learning process. Therefore, YouTube videos can still be used as a supporting learning medium to make vocabulary learning more interesting and engaging for students.

Abstract

Learning about cultural diversity in elementary schools plays an important role inshaping students’ understanding of national identity. However, in reality, students’understanding of Indonesia’s cultural diversity is still not optimal. This is caused bythe use of learning media that is not yet varied and has not been able to activelyengage students, resulting in low student interest in participating in the learningprocess.This study aims to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of the LUMBU(Ludo Mengenal Budaya) learning media on the topic of Indonesian cultural diversityfor fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used in this research isResearch and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model.The results of this studyindicate that the developed LUMBU (Ludo Mengenal Budaya) learning media iscategorized as highly feasible and effective. The average validation results frommedia experts and language experts reached 90%, which falls into the “veryfeasible” category. Student responses showed a percentage of 93% in the small-scale trial and 90% in the large-scale trial, while teacher responses reached 100%in both stages, all of which are categorized as very feasible. The effectiveness ofthe media was measured through pretest and posttest results, where the small-scaletrial showed a result of 90%, and the large-scale trial showed a result of 78%, bothcategorized as effective.

Abstract

Language as a social semiotic system is not only manifested through verbal forms, but also through visual, gestural, audio, and spatial modes that work simultaneously in multimodal communication. This study analyzes the application of multimodality—particularly visual design in lecturers' PowerPoint presentations—and its contribution to learning effectiveness in higher education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through slide documentation, classroom observation, interviews, and student perception questionnaires, then analyzed based on representational, interactive, and compositional meanings. The results show that the consistent use of color, typography, layout, images, and diagrams helps structure information, emphasize important concepts, and reinforce lecturers' verbal explanations. Visual functions vary according to context: clarifying abstract concepts in Pragmatics courses and supporting idea development in Cultural Text Writing. Students reported increased understanding, attention, and reduced cognitive load, although text density and visual balance remained challenges. Overall, PowerPoint is effective when visual design is aligned with pedagogical goals and student academic levels.

Abstract

The introduction of Hijaiyyah letters is a fundamental skill that is important for early childhood as a foundation for reading the Qur'an. However, in the learning practice at RA Dharma Wanita Persatuan, Jambi City, several obstacles are still found, such as differences in children's abilities in recognizing letters, limited variation in learning media, and children's concentration that is not yet stable during learning activities. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included the school principal, classroom teachers, and children aged 5–6 years. The data obtained were then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study showed that the Hijaiyyah letter card playing activities were carried out through planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Teachers prepared media and learning activities that were adjusted to children's development, then introduced letters through matching card games, pronouncing letter sounds, and group games. This activity received a positive response because it made children more enthusiastic, active, and helped improve their ability to recognize Hijaiyyah letters. However, some children still experienced difficulties distinguishing letters with similar shapes, thus requiring further guidance. Supporting factors in the implementation of this activity included the availability of learning media, school support, and children's learning motivation, while inhibiting factors included differences in children's abilities, limited variation in learning media, and lack of concentration among some children.
