Abstract

The Hajj pilgrimage is the fifth pillar of Islam and is obligatory for all Muslims who are able. The high level of public interest makes the Hajj registration process crucial and must be carried out in an orderly and transparent manner. This study aims to describe the Hajj registration system and procedures at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Office in Mandailing Natal Regency and the role of students in the Hajj registration process during the field experience practicum (PPL). The method used is descriptive qualitative with a participatory approach through the Field Experience Practicum (PPL) activities. The results show that Hajj registration is carried out in two stages, namely at the bank and at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah office using the SISKOHAT application. This system helps improve the effectiveness and transparency of services, although there are still obstacles such as a lack of public understanding and limited use of technology.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has created generational differences in the field of education, particularly between Generation Z teachers and Generation Alpha students. These differences present challenges in the learning process, especially in maintaining student engagement and learning effectiveness. This study aims to describe the efforts of Generation Z teachers in addressing the characteristics of Generation Alpha students and to identify the challenges faced in the learning process at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Walisanga II. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were Generation Z teachers, while the object focused on teachers’ efforts in responding to the characteristics of Generation Alpha students. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques used to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that Generation Z teachers have implemented various adaptive strategies, including the use of varied and interactive learning methods, the utilization of technology-based media, flexible and communicative classroom management, and character building through habituation and role modeling. These efforts have been shown to enhance student engagement and interest in learning. However, teachers still face several challenges, such as maintaining student focus, managing heterogeneous classrooms, and the limited integration of technology in a pedagogical manner. This study highlights the importance of continuous teacher competency development in responding to the dynamics of student characteristics in the digital era, while maintaining a balance between instructional innovation and character education.

Abstract

This research aims to deeply examine the transformation of Islamic Religious Education within the social history and civilizational landscape of Malay Islam, while simultaneously exploring the determinants and challenges that accompany its movement over time. Within this framework, Islamic Religious Education is no longer understood merely as a space for the transmission of normative religious knowledge, but rather as a space for the formation of meaning where values, manners, and spiritual awareness are nurtured and cultivated amidst the increasingly complex currents of change. This research uses a qualitative approach through library research, by examining various relevant academic literature sources. The results of the study indicate that the transformation of Islamic Religious Education has taken place in an evolutionary manner, starting from the intimate traditions of surau, langgar, and pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) centered on teacher-student relationships within the halaqoh circle, moving towards a modern madrasah system that integrates religious knowledge and general knowledge more systematically. These changes did not occur in a vacuum, but were shaped by the dynamics of colonialism, the rise of Islamic renewal, developments in educational policy, and the acceleration of science and technology. However, amidst these transformation efforts, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) also faces significant challenges, ranging from limited digital literacy among educators, infrastructure gaps, and even a moral crisis that is slowly eroding the generation's sense of civility. Therefore, the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) demands an effort that is not only adaptive and contextual, but also reflective and rooted, so that it does not simply change with the times but remains able to maintain the spirit of Islamic values while guiding civilization toward a more civilized future.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe teacher professionalism based on pedagogical, professional, and social competencies and their contribution to improving learning quality. The research employs a qualitative approach using a systematic literature review method. Data were collected from relevant books, scientific journals, and academic documents, then analyzed through descriptive techniques, including data reduction, comparison, and interpretation. The findings indicate that pedagogical competence plays a dominant role in determining the effectiveness of learning. Teachers with strong pedagogical skills are able to design interactive learning, apply varied teaching methods, and create conducive classroom environments that enhance student engagement and learning motivation. However, weaknesses were identified in formative assessment practices, which indicate an incomplete learning evaluation cycle. In terms of professional competence, teachers generally demonstrate adequate mastery of subject matter. Nevertheless, difficulties remain in contextualizing learning materials to real-life situations, which limits the meaningfulness of instruction. Meanwhile, social competence contributes significantly to creating positive learning environments through effective communication, empathy, and collaboration. However, interaction with parents and collaboration among teachers are still not fully optimized. Overall, the study highlights that teacher competence is a multidimensional construct in which pedagogical competence serves as the core driving factor, while professional and social competencies function as supporting elements. The imbalance among these competencies suggests a gap between theoretical expectations and classroom practice. Therefore, integrated professional development and continuous training are essential to enhance teacher competence and improve overall educational quality.

Abstract

Amidst the complex challenges of modern education, teacher ethics and professionalism emerge as two fundamental aspects that play a strategic role in shaping the moral and intellectual qualities of students. Teacher ethics and professionalism are two fundamental aspects in education that play a crucial role in shaping students' religious character. This study aims to provide an understanding of the role of teacher ethics and professionalism, and their relationship to religious character formation in educational settings. Teacher ethics encompass attitudes, values, and behaviors that reflect exemplary behavior. Professionalism, on the other hand, relates to teacher competence, responsibility, and the quality of teacher performance in the learning process. Through a literature review, it was found that good teacher ethics can serve as the primary foundation for instilling religious values in students through role models and daily interactions. Furthermore, teacher professionalism strengthens this process through systematic lesson planning, the use of effective methods, and the ability to create a conducive learning environment. The synergy between teacher ethics and professionalism results in a more optimal internalization of religious values, so that students not only understand religious teachings cognitively but are also able to implement them in their daily lives. Thus, teacher ethics and professionalism contribute significantly to shaping students' religious character and therefore need to be continuously developed as part of efforts to improve the quality of education.
