Abstract

This research aims to improve student learning outcomes through the use of solar system miniature learning media on solar system materials. This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of grade VI students of UPTD Elementary School Inpres Oeba 1 Kupang City. The low learning outcomes are caused by the learning process that is still dominated by teachers, the use of less interactive media, and the low involvement of students in learning activities. As a result, students tend to be passive, lack focus, and have difficulty understanding abstract concepts of the solar system. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method which is carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consists of the stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The subject of the study was 18 students in grade VI UPTD SD Inpres Oeba 1. The data collection technique is carried out through observation sheets of teacher and student activities and learning outcome tests. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results of the study showed that in the first cycle the number of students who achieved learning completeness was still low, namely 8 students (44.44%), while 10 students (55.56%) had not completed due to lack of concentration and active participation in learning. In cycle II, student learning outcomes experienced a significant increase, where as many as 16 students (88.89%) achieved learning completion. The increase is supported by increased activity, motivation, concentration, and cooperation of students in groups through the use of miniature solar system media. Meanwhile, students who have not completed are given guidance and enrichment. Thus, the use of solar system miniature learning media has been proven to have a positive impact on improving student learning outcomes, as shown by the increase in learning completeness from cycle I to cycle II.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school principals’ leadership in integrating prophetic, transformational, visionary, and transactional values in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic educational institutions. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving school principals and teachers as key informants. Data analysis used an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal’s leadership is integrative and contextual. Prophetic leadership values serve as the moral foundation in building school ethics and culture, while transformational leadership encourages innovation and change, visionary leadership provides strategic direction, and transactional leadership maintains organizational stability through control and reward systems. The integration of these four leadership models has proven to support the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, as indicated by improved teacher performance, the establishment of a positive school culture, and the development of more innovative and student-centered learning. This study proposes an “Integrative Islamic Leadership” model as a holistic approach to leadership in Islamic education. This model is expected to contribute conceptually to the development of adaptive and relevant educational leadership in the modern era.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of humanistic education based on cultural acculturation as a strategy for developing students' social intelligence in the digital era. This study applies a qualitative approach utilizing literature study methods. Literature study is used to examine the concept of humanistic education, the process of cultural acculturation, the characteristics of the digital era, and the concept of social intelligence from various theoretical and empirical studies. The results of the study indicate that the integration of local wisdom values (e.g., mutual cooperation, deliberation, tolerance) into humanistic education practices can strengthen students' empathy, interpersonal communication, and collaboration—core components of social intelligence—although digital challenges such as individualism and decreased face-to-face interaction still need to be anticipated. The proposed implementation model includes culture-based collaborative learning, humanistic reflective practice, strengthening school culture based on local wisdom, and the humanistic use of technology as a medium for cultural expression. This study recommends curricular integration and strengthening teacher capacity, as well as school-cultural community collaboration as initial steps in implementation. Thus, education based on humanism and local culture is an effective strategy for developing students with character.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a scientific deconstruction of the phenomenon of “Islam Sontoloyo,” as introduced by Ir. Soekarno, and to relate it to a critique of the tendency toward fiqh-centrism in Islamic thought in Indonesia. The phenomenon of Islam Sontoloyo is analyzed not as blasphemy, but rather as a form of self-criticism toward formalism and ritualism that have lost their spiritual substance and social transformative power. By employing the theoretical framework of Jacques Derrida’s deconstruction and Mohammed Arkoun’s critique of Islamic reason, this paper examines how logocentrism within the Islamic legal tradition has led to intellectual stagnation (jumud) and entrapment in binary oppositions that separate ritual piety from social justice. The findings indicate that fiqh-centrism tends to reduce the complexity of Islamic teachings into mere formalistic legalism, neglecting the broader objectives of the sharia (maqashid al-shari’ah). As a solution, this study explores the paradigm of Social Fiqh as developed by KH. Sahal Mahfudh, along with other reformist ideas in Islamic thought that emphasize a shift in legal adherence from a qawli (textual) approach to a manhaji (methodological) one. In conclusion, the study asserts that addressing the crisis of spirituality and religious alienation in the modern era requires a reconstruction of religious discourse that is more inclusive, dynamic, and accommodating of the cultural locality of the Indonesian archipelago, in order to restore the “spirit” of Islam as an instrument of liberation and humanity.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed education, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI). However, the adoption of technology in PAI often lacks a strong philosophical foundation, which may lead to the erosion of spiritual and ethical values. Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, a moderate contemporary scholar (wasathiyah), offers a philosophical perspective that balances technological advancement with spiritual integrity. This study aims to examine Al-Qaradawi’s philosophy of technology and its relevance as an axiological and epistemological foundation for developing contemporary PAI learning media. This research employs a qualitative library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data are derived from Al-Qaradawi’s works, while data analysis uses content analysis to identify key principles of technology in Islamic thought. The findings reveal that Al-Qaradawi’s philosophy is rooted in the concept of tashkhir, where technology serves as a means to achieve maslahah and devotion to God. Its relevance to PAI learning media includes three aspects: integrative (combining faith and digital literacy), ethical (guided by moral awareness), and adaptive (utilizing modern technologies such as AI and VR within Islamic principles). Therefore, technology in PAI should function not only as a tool but also as a medium to strengthen religious understanding and values.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of science learning, the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills, and students’ responses after the application of the guided Inquiry learning model assisted by socratic questioning on pollution topics. The study employed a quantitative approach with a preexperimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 22 Surabaya with 33 seventh-grade students from class VII-F as participants. The measurement of critical thinking skills was based on five indicators proposed by Ennis (2011), namely providing simple explanations, building basic skills, making inferences, providing further explanations, and setting strategies and tactics. Data were collected through observation, tests, and questionnaires. Data analysis included N-Gain to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills, a normality test to examine data distribution, and the Wilcoxon test to analyze differences between pretest and posttest results. The analysis of learning implementation and student responses used Likert-scale questionnaires analyzed based on the mode value. The results showed that the implementation of learning across three meetings was categorized as very good. Furthermore, students’ critical thinking skills improved, as indicated by the N-Gain scores in each aspect: providing simple explanations (0.63, moderate), building basic skills (0.56, moderate), making inferences (0.84, high), providing further explanations (0.70, high), and setting strategies and tactics (0.76, high). Students’ responses to the learning process were also categorized as very good. Therefore, the application of the guided Inquiry learning model assisted by socratic questioning contributes positively to improving students’ critical thinking skills on pollution topics.
