Abstract

Low student engagement in the learning process remains a challenge in creating interactive and meaningful learning in elementary schools. This study aims to analyze student engagement in group discussions in science lessons on cultural diversity and identify factors influencing this engagement. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study, conducted at Sawahlega Elementary School. The subjects included fourth-grade students and their fourth-grade teacher as the primary informant. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that group discussions can increase student engagement, as indicated by student involvement in expressing opinions, asking questions, answering questions, and collaborating in groups. The use of visual media in discussions also increased student enthusiasm and understanding of cultural diversity. However, several obstacles to implementation exist, such as the persistence of student self-confidence, differences in ability between students, and limited learning time. This research is expected to contribute to teachers' development of more active, interactive, and enjoyable learning strategies to increase student engagement in elementary schools.

Abstract

Nur Rahmadhani Syam, 2026. The Application of the Project-Based Learning Model on IPAS Learning Outcomes Among Fifth-Grade Students at SD Inpres Saluttowa, Tinggimoncong Subdistrict, Gowa Regency. Thesis. Department of Elementary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. Advisors: Nurlina and Nurfadillah. This study aims to describe the improvement in the IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model. This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the IPAS subject. The study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design and a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were all 24 fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Saluttowa. Data collection was conducted through learning achievement tests before the treatment (pretest) and after the treatment (posttest). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and the N-Gain test. The results of the study indicate that there was an improvement in students’ IPAS learning outcomes following the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model. The students’ average score on the pretest, which was 60.75, increased to 89.33 on the posttest. All students achieved scores above the established Learning Objective Achievement Criteria (KKTP), which is 75. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model is effective in improving the IPAS learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SD Inpres Saluttowa in Tinggimoncong Subdistrict, Gowa Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-Based Learning model with a STEM approach on students’ mathematical literacy skills in the Pythagorean theorem and to identify the differences in mathematical literacy skills between students who use the Project-Based Learning model with a STEM approach and those who use conventional learning. The method used was experimental research. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The research population consisted of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya, with the samples being class VIII A and VIII C students, each totaling 32 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data collection technique employed was measurement, using tests as the instrument. The hypothesis test used in this study was the independent sample t-test. The results showed that the significance value (Sig.) was 0.000 < 0.05, so the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This means that there is a difference in mathematical literacy skills between students who use the Project-Based Learning model with a STEM approach and those who use conventional learning. Thus, the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model with a STEM approach has an effect on students’ mathematical literacy skills in the Pythagorean theorem material in class VIII A of SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya

Abstract

This study aims to explore academic stress experienced by final-semester students in completing their undergraduate thesis in the Social Studies Education Program at Institut Pendidikan Indonesia (IPI) Garut. The research is motivated by the increasing number of students experiencing delays in thesis completion due to various academic and non-academic pressures. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to understand students’ subjective experiences. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations involving six final-semester students who were in different stages of thesis completion. The results indicate that academic stress manifests in cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and physical forms, such as confusion in determining research direction, emotional instability, procrastination, and physical fatigue. The causes of stress are categorized into internal factors, including decreased motivation and mental exhaustion, and external factors, such as family issues, limited access to supervisors, and difficulties in obtaining references. The impact of academic stress includes decreased learning motivation, delayed thesis completion, and reduced social interaction. To cope with stress, students apply various strategies, including taking breaks, engaging in leisure activities, exercising, and seeking social support from peers, family, and supervisors. This study highlights the importance of effective coping strategies, supportive supervision, and institutional support in reducing academic stress among final-year students.

Abstract

This research seeks to examine and depict the extent to which digital-based Social Studies (IPS) instruction is effectively carried out in three elementary schools in West Sumatra: UPT SDN 09 Sungai Aro, SDN 22 Andalas Barat, and SDN 11 Kampung Darek. A mixedmethods descriptive research design was adopted, with data gathered through ethnolearning activities that included non-participatory classroom observation, structured interviews with teachers, and questionnaire distribution to 64 fifth-grade students using a Likert scale instrument. The findings reveal that digital-based IPS learning is overall categorized as Effective, with an average percentage of 75.03%. At the individual school level, SDN 11 Kampung Darek achieved the highest rating of Very Effective (81.8%), whereas SDN 09 Sungai Aro (76.3%) and SDN 22 Andalas Barat (69.3%) were both rated Effective. The use of digital media including educational videos, visual imagery, and slide presentations demonstrably enhanced students' conceptual understanding and motivation to learn. Principal obstacles included insufficient ICT devices, frequent internet connectivity disruptions, and unequal levels of digital literacy among students. The study points to the necessity of equitable digital infrastructure development, ongoing technology competency training for teachers, and the cultivation of a collaborative digital learning culture in schools

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional problem that is still a global and national challenge, including in Indonesia, which is not only related to economic aspects, but also social and spiritual. This research aims to analyze the concept of poverty from an Islamic perspective and examine the solutions offered through sharia economics. The method used is a qualitative approach with a type of literature study, with data sources in the form of books, scientific journal articles, as well as the Al-Qur'an and relevant hadith. The data collection technique was carried out through systematic searches on scientific databases, while data analysis used the content analysis method. The research results show that in the Islamic perspective, poverty is classified into needy and needy and is seen as a problem that includes economic, social and moral aspects. The causes of poverty do not only come from economic factors, but also unequal distribution of wealth, unfair economic practices, and individual factors. Islam offers a comprehensive solution through the principles of distributional justice and sharia economic instruments such as zakat, infaq, alms and waqf which play a role in redistributing wealth and empowering the community's economy. Therefore, optimizing the management of sharia economic instruments as well as synergy between the government, sharia financial institutions and the community is needed to increase the effectiveness of sustainable poverty alleviation.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of using Facebook on cattle trading at Nur Najwa Livestock, Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The primary problem addressed is the challenges faced by farmers in digital marketing and the need to understand the effectiveness of social media in increasing transactions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Facebook usage on cattle buying and selling activities and to identify the influencing factors. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with correlational research design through a survey of 94 respondents. Data were collected via observations, questionnaires, and interviews, then analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS software. The results indicate that Facebook usage has a positive and significant effect on trading activities with a t-statistic of 23.054. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.852 shows that Facebook contributes 85.2% to the success of transactions, including sales volume, price, and profit. In conclusion, digital transformation through Facebook effectively expands market reach and significantly increases livestock farm income.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership, organizational culture, and the managerial role of the principal on teacher performance in private junior high schools in Bojongsari District, Depok City. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method with a sample of 139 teachers selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected, questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and analyzed using partial correlation, multiple correlation, and multiple linear regression techniques. The results show that transformational leadership has a positive and significant relationship with teacher performance (r = 0.613; p < 0.001), but becomes insignificant after controlling for other variables. Organizational culture also has a positive and significant relationship with teacher performance (r = 0.669; p < 0.001), although its effect weakens when controlled by the managerial role of the principal. Meanwhile, the managerial role of the principal shows the strongest and most significant relationship with teacher performance (r = 0.899; p < 0.001), and remains significant even after controlling for other variables. Simultaneously, transformational leadership, organizational culture, and the managerial role of the principal have a very strong relationship with teacher performance (r = 0.903). In conclusion, the managerial role of the principal is the most dominant factor in improving teacher performance, followed by organizational culture and transformational leadership. Therefore, optimizing the principal’s managerial role should be prioritized to enhance teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of digital media in Natural and Social Science (IPAS) learning for Grade V Elementary School based on the Merdeka Curriculum. This research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design conducted at UPT SDN 04 Jaho, UPTD SDN 05 Sarilamak, and UPT SDN 16 Pulau Karam. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show that all three schools have integrated digital media such as projectors, interactive PowerPoints, educational videos, and Smart TVs into IPAS learning. Teachers' perceptions of digital media were positive, but challenges remain regarding limited infrastructure and uneven digital competency among teachers. Students showed high enthusiasm for digital-based learning. The effectiveness of digital-based IPAS learning at SDN 04 Jaho reached 89.5% (very effective), SDN 16 Pulau Karam 82.5% (very effective), and SDN 05 Sarilamak 80.25% (effective). This study recommends teacher training, additional digital infrastructure, and strengthening students' digital literacy to optimize digital-based IPAS learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an mathematics learning media based on the traditional game bekel for whole number material in lower grade elementary school students. The research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model consisting of analysis, design, and development stages. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and validation questionnaires involving experts in material, media, and language. The results of the analysis show that the learning process still relies on conventional media and lacks interactive elements, causing low student engagement. The developed product is designed using storyboard and includes bekel tools and instructional cards. Validation results indicate that the developed media meets validity criteria and is feasible to be tested further. This study concludes that the developed media has good validity and potential to support mathematics learning.
