Abstract

The Effect of Using Quizizz Application as a Formative Evaluation Media on Students’ Learning Outcomes in Indonesian Language for Grade V at UPT SD Negeri 14 Binamu, Jeneponto Regency. Thesis. Elementary School Teacher Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar. Supervised by Aliem Bahri as the first supervisor and Ratnawati as the second supervisor. This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes and motivation of students in participating in Indonesian language formative evaluation in Grade V at UPT SD Negeri 14 Binamu, as well as the limited use of interactive evaluation media. This condition indicates the need for innovation in formative assessment through the use of digital technology such as the Quizizz application, which is based on gamification and can increase student engagement in the learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of using Quizizz as a formative evaluation media on students’ Indonesian language learning outcomes in Grade V at UPT SD Negeri 14 Binamu, Jeneponto Regency. This research employed a quantitative approach with a Pre-Experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest Design and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 40 students, divided into an experimental class (V-A) and a control class (V-B). Data were collected through learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest) and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing with a paired sample t-test.The results showed that the use of Quizizz improved students’ activity and engagement in the learning process. Students in the experimental class were more enthusiastic and active in answering questions compared to those in the control class, which used conventional methods. In addition, there was a significant increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class, where the average posttest score was higher than the pretest score. The hypothesis test results showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that there is a significant effect of using Quizizz on students’ learning outcomes.Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the use of Quizizz as a formative evaluation media has a positive effect on the Indonesian language learning outcomes of Grade V students at UPT SD Negeri 14 Binamu, Jeneponto Regency. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the social emotional learning model compared to conventional methods and its interaction with learning motivation on social empathy and learning outcomes of elementary school students in Social Studies (IPS). This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design with a 2x2 factorial model. The population in this study were all fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Kelurahan Menanggal Surabaya, totaling 250 students, with a sample size of 120 students spread across four classes (ABCD) and selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used included a questionnaire to measure learning motivation and social empathy and a learning achievement test to measure mastery of the IPS material. Data collection techniques were carried out through distributing questionnaires and conducting written tests. Data were analyzed using the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) technique with the help of SPSS software version 27.00. The results showed that there was a significant influence of the learning model on social empathy and students' IPS learning outcomes. Social emotional learning was more effective than conventional methods in improving both. Learning motivation also had a significant effect on social empathy and learning outcomes. Furthermore, there was a significant interaction between the learning model and learning motivation on both dependent variables. This interaction indicates that social-emotional learning has a greater impact, especially on students with low motivation. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of social-emotional learning in social studies is highly effective in building social empathy and improving students' academic achievement, especially when combined with efforts to increase learning motivation.

Abstract

The quality of elementary science learning remains a concern due to low student engagement and the limited alignment between instructional strategies and students’ learning characteristics, resulting in suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the effect of multiple application-based learning and students’ learning styles on science learning outcomes, as well as their interaction. A quantitative quasi-experimental design was employed involving 60 students divided into experimental and control groups selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using observation, questionnaires, and tests, and analyzed using multiple linear regression with prerequisite tests of normality and homogeneity. The results show that multiple application-based learning significantly improves science learning outcomes compared to conventional methods (p < 0.05), while differences in learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) are not statistically significant. In addition, no significant interaction effect is found between instructional method and learning styles, indicating that the multiple application approach has a stronger direct influence on learning outcomes. These findings suggest that integrating multiple platforms such as LMS, WhatsApp Group, and Telegram can enhance student engagement and conceptual understanding in elementary science learning, and future research is recommended to explore broader assessment approaches and additional moderating variables.

Abstract

Speaking skills are fundamental to elementary students' language development, yet remain underdeveloped in Indonesian language classrooms. This study systematically reviews the effectiveness of storytelling as a pedagogical strategy for improving elementary school students' speaking skills. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology, 25 articles were selected from Google Scholar, Garuda, SINTA, DOAJ, and ResearchGate, published between 2016 and 2026, based on predefined inclusion criteria. Findings consistently demonstrate that storytelling enhances students' confidence, fluency, pronunciation, intonation, vocabulary, narrative coherence, and classroom participation. Its effectiveness is further amplified when integrated with storybooks, picture series, digital media, animation, and paired storytelling models. This review provides evidence-based justification for positioning storytelling as a communicative, contextual, and developmentally appropriate strategy in Indonesian language instruction at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study examines the public speaking skills of elementary school teachers as a key factor in supporting effective classroom learning. Teachers, as primary communicators, are required to deliver instructional material clearly, engagingly, and comprehensibly; however, variations in verbal and nonverbal communication skills are still evident. This research aims to analyze the public speaking skills of teachers at SD Inpres Bone, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency. A qualitative approach with a descriptive design was employed. Data were collected through classroom observations, audio and video recordings, interviews, and documentation. Observations and recordings were conducted to capture real teaching practices, while interviews provided in-depth insights into teachers’ experiences and communication challenges. The data sources included teachers from grades 1 to 6 to obtain a comprehensive overview. The findings reveal that teachers generally demonstrate good intonation by varying pitch effectively, although assertive tones tend to dominate. In terms of vocal aspects, most teachers have clear and adequately loud voices with stable speech tempo, facilitating student understanding. Word choice is generally simple and appropriate to students’ developmental levels, despite the frequent use of directive sentences. Gestures are used in classroom management but are not yet optimal in reinforcing instructional content. Facial expressions are mostly positive and supportive, contributing to a conducive learning environment. Overall, teachers’ public speaking skills are adequate, yet several aspects still require improvement to enhance instructional communication effectiveness and expressiveness.
