Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing number of cases of sexual violence against children and the importance of providing preventive education that is appropriate to the developmental characteristics of elementary school children. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the storytelling method in education on preventing sexual violence against children at Tanjung Ilir Elementary School. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. The subjects were 10 students from Tanjung Ilir Elementary School who participated in educational activities and mentoring by the Indonesian Brother and Sister Foundation. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation and interviews. The results showed that the storytelling method was able to create an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, making it easier for students to understand the material presented. The educational activities were carried out through several stages: an introduction, telling the story "It Turns Out Mr. Mustache...", delivering the main material, and reinforcement activities such as singing and educational games. The use of hand puppets, expressions, intonation, and active interaction from the facilitator proved effective in attracting attention and increasing student participation throughout the activity. Furthermore, students were able to understand the material on preventing sexual violence, such as recognizing private body parts, understanding inappropriate behavior, and knowing what to do when facing uncomfortable situations. Thus, the storytelling method can be an effective educational medium for preventing sexual violence against elementary school children.

Abstract

School Field Practice (PLP 2) is an important stage in teacher education because it provides prospective teachers with direct experience in the learning process at schools. This study aims to analyze the formation of students’ Teacher Professional Identity through their experiences during PLP 2. The research employed a qualitative approach using the Collaborative Autoethnography method. Data were collected through daily reflective journals, teaching experience notes, weekly reflections, and students’ subjective narratives during the field practice program. Data analysis was conducted thematically through data reduction, theme categorization, reflective interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students encountered various pedagogical, emotional, and social challenges during PLP 2. Pedagogical challenges included difficulties in classroom management, delivering learning materials, and building active interaction with students. Emotional challenges were reflected in feelings of nervousness, lack of self-confidence, and mental pressure when facing classroom situations. Meanwhile, social challenges were related to adapting to school culture and communicating with mentor teachers and students. Through these experiences, students gradually developed their professional identity as prospective teachers through self-reflection, experience evaluation, and increased awareness of professional responsibilities. Therefore, PLP 2 plays an important role in shaping students’ professional readiness and teacher professional identity.

Abstract

Mathematical problem-solving skills when dealing with word problems remain a major obstacle for elementary school students, particularly in analyzing issues, developing action plans, and re-verifying final findings. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving skills of fifth-grade students in solving word problems through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model, while identifying patterns of students' cognitive processes based on problem-solving criteria. The study applied a qualitative method with an exploratory descriptive design carried out in fifth-grade students of SDN 2 Bogorejo in the second half of the 2025/2026 academic year. Subjects were selected purposively following the diversity of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, word problem tests, and document reviews, with data validation through source and method triangulation. Data processing followed the steps of data reduction, data display, and conclusions based on the Miles and Huberman model. The uniqueness of this study lies in the detailed exploration of elementary school students' mathematical problem-solving skills through the integration of PjBL connected with a structured problem-solving sequence in a story problem situation that is relevant to reality. Research findings indicate that PjBL effectively maps the dynamics of students' thinking at each problem-solving stage. High-achieving students successfully decompose problems sequentially, while the medium- and low-achieving groups still struggle during the planning and assessment phases. Consequently, the use of PjBL fosters dynamic participation, teamwork, and strengthens students' understanding of the material and their ability to solve mathematical problems in a more context-based manner.
