Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of mathematical formula mastery among fifth-grade elementary school students due to surface learning, causing students to memorize formulas without understanding the concepts. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Deep Learning approach through the Discovery Learning model on students’ mastery of mathematical formulas compared with the Cooperative Learning model. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 38 fifth-grade students at SDN Kandangan 02 and SDN Kandangan 03. Data were collected using a hybrid test and analyzed through normality, homogeneity, and Independent Samples T-Test using IBM SPSS. The results showed that the experimental group I achieved a higher posttest mean score (73.684) than the experimental group II (58.947). The t-test result indicated a significant difference between the two groups with t = 2.657 and significance value 0.012 < 0.05. Therefore, the Deep Learning approach through the Discovery Learning model was more effective in improving students’ mastery of mathematical formulas.

Abstract

Arabic language learning in schools is often implemented uniformly without considering students’ readiness, interests, characteristics, and learning styles, which can reduce motivation, participation, and learning outcomes. Therefore, differentiated instruction is needed to address diverse learner needs. This study aims to analyze the concept of differentiated Arabic learning, including its definition, theoretical foundations, principles, objectives, characteristics, implementation, challenges, supporting factors, and findings from previous studies. The research employed a qualitative approach using literature review methods, with data collected from books and relevant journal articles. Data analysis involved literature selection, categorization, synthesis, and interpretation. The findings show that differentiated Arabic learning requires teachers to identify students’ readiness, interests, and characteristics, then adapt learning content, processes, and products accordingly.

Abstract

This research is motivated by field conditions where third-grade elementary school students often associate mathematics learning with feelings of fear, difficulty, and exhaustion, which ultimately hinders the emergence of Creative Problem Solving (CPS) skills. This study aims to describe students' problem-solving processes and difficulties, analyze the teacher's role as a facilitator, and evaluate the implementation of creative problem-solving instruction. A quantitative approach utilizing a Quasi-Experimental Design (Two-Treatment Design) was employed. The research sample consisted of a student group at SDN Jogoyasan receiving the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and a student group at SDN Keditan receiving the Discovery Learning (DL) model. Data were collected through test techniques (pretest-posttest) and non-test methods (Y-Chart reflection instrument), which were analyzed statistically using SPSS and qualitatively using MAXQDA 2020 software. Hypothesis testing results revealed that both learning models had a highly significant effect on improving students' CPS abilities (p < 0.001). The PBL class experienced a Gain Score increase of 20.71 points, while the DL class increased by 18.46 points. Qualitative findings indicated that the use of concrete learning media and the creation of a Joyful Learning environment effectively transformed negative emotions into metacognitive awareness (Mindful Learning), making students braver and more enthusiastic in exploring problem-solving strategies. In conclusion, the integration of PBL and DL models with a Deep Learning approach is effectively implemented to enhance the CPS skills of third-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

Research regarding 21st-century learning emphasizes the critical need for high-level thinking skills, yet many elementary schools still rely on conventional, non-interactive media. This study aims to analyze the role of flipbook media in enhancing the critical thinking skills of elementary school students. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, involving stages such as keyword identification, literature searching, inclusion and exclusion criteria determination, analysis, synthesis, and final reporting. Data were gathered using the Publish or Perish application, which initially yielded 100 articles; these were subsequently filtered down to 11 selected articles for descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that flipbook media plays a significant role in improving elementary students' critical thinking, specifically in areas of analysis, evaluation, and problem-solving. This improvement is attributed to the interactive characteristics of flipbooks, which include features like animation, audio, and video that encourage active student engagement. Furthermore, the use of flipbooks was found to boost student learning motivation and conceptual understanding. Consequently, flipbook media serves as an innovative and effective alternative solution to support the development of critical thinking skills in elementary education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgency of strengthening character education for elementary school students amidst various challenges in today's children's behavioral development, such as a lack of discipline, responsibility, and cooperation. Furthermore, this research stems from a school program that encourages students to watch animated films as a medium for learning life values. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential of the animated film Adit Sopo Jarwo, integrated with game-based learning, in developing the character of third-grade elementary school students. The research results show that animated films can foster students' initial understanding of the values of honesty, responsibility, cooperation, hard work, and perseverance. The integration of game-based learning activities makes students more active, enthusiastic, and engaged in the learning process. However, behavioral changes do not occur instantly because there is still a gap between students' understanding and actual practice. The study's conclusions indicate that film-based and game-based learning have strong potential for developing student character. However, their effectiveness is influenced by the duration and variety of media, the role of the teacher, and the support of the school environment. Therefore, implementation needs to be sustainable and contextualized to ensure optimal character development in students.

Abstract

The developmental trajectory of kicking movements in children represents a complex phenomenon governed by progressive kinematic adaptation and neuromotor regulation. This study comparatively analyzed kicking kinematics between early childhood (ages 4–6) and primary school-age children (ages 7–12) using an observational approach grounded in motor learning theory. Field observations concentrated on four primary dimensions: inter-segmental coordination, dynamic stability, kicking power, and motor decision-making latency. Findings revealed that early childhood participants exhibited gross coordination characteristics—marked by substantial center-of-mass (COM) instability, kinetic chain asynchrony, and considerable postural oscillation during the approach phase. Primary school-age children, by contrast, demonstrated more mature movement consolidation evidenced by greater kicking velocity and consistency; nevertheless, residual motor decision-making latency (150–250 ms) was identified as a limiting factor for attacking efficiency. The discussion integrates Gallahue's motor development phases and Schmidt's Schema Theory, supported by recent empirical evidence. The study concludes that developmentally differentiated training programmes are essential for optimizing the kicking skill trajectory in a structured and age-appropriate manner.

Abstract

Religious character education is a fundamental tool for schools to integrate values of faith into students’ moral development. In this context, Guidance and Counseling (GC) services make a strategic contribution through a systematic approach to strengthen the internalization of spiritual values and facilitate the transformation of faith into tangible behavior. This study aims to explore the relationship between the effectiveness of BK services and improvements in the consistency of students’ religious character. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, BK teachers, and students, as well as an analysis of BK management program documentation. The results of the study at SMPN 2 Gading revealed that effective BK management characterized by measurable planning, adequate resources, and systematic organization contributes significantly to the development of students’ religious character. The management of structured educational interactions through individual counseling, group counseling, the cultivation of religious practices, and the provision of religious motivation has proven to strengthen the internalization of faith-based values. This success is supported by a conducive school environment and harmonious relationships between teachers and students. The implementation of this structured program has been able to transform students’ behavior, making them more disciplined, responsible, polite, honest, and socially conscious in their daily lives. Thus, integrative guidance and counseling management is the key to shaping
