Abstract

The limited use of innovative teaching materials and the predominance of text based learning resources have contributed to low student engagement and unsatisfactory learning outcomes in the IPAS topic "Let's Learn About Life Cycles." Preliminary findings indicated that only 10 out of 26 third grade students (38.46%) achieved the minimum learning mastery criterion, while 16 students (61.54%) failed to meet the expected standard. This study aimed to develop comic based IPAS teaching materials and examine their validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving elementary school students' learning outcomes. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research participants were 26 third grade students of UPTD SDI Sikumana 3, Kupang City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest instruments. The developed teaching materials obtained validity scores of 95.00% from the material expert, 87.50% from the media expert, and 96.66% from the language expert, indicating a very valid category. The implementation results demonstrated a substantial improvement in students' learning outcomes, with the mean score increasing from 34.50 in the pretest to 78.62 in the posttest. The number of students achieving the high achievement category also increased from one student to twenty three students after the intervention. These findings indicate that comic based IPAS teaching materials are valid, practical, and effective in improving elementary school students' understanding of life cycle concepts while promoting more engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

Abstract

The development of digital technology in the 21st century has fundamentally transformed the educational landscape, particularly following the experience of distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated the massive adoption of various digital tools and platforms. This paper aims to examine strategies for utilizing digital technology to enhance learning effectiveness. The discussion covers basic concepts, theoretical foundations such as constructivism, connectivism, and the TPACK and SAMR frameworks, types of applicable technologies, integration strategies, implementation barriers, and methods for evaluating effectiveness. This study reveals that the availability of technology alone is insufficient; successful learning outcomes depend heavily on the teacher’s ability to integrate technology with subject matter and appropriate teaching methods. Effective strategies include aligning technology with learning objectives, implementing blended learning models, and utilizing interactive and adaptive features. In Indonesia, key challenges involve infrastructure gaps and disparities in digital competence across regions. This paper concludes that digital technology serves as a powerful supporting tool for creating meaningful, inclusive, and relevant learning, provided it is applied strategically in accordance with sound pedagogical principles.

Abstract

Hearing-impaired students often encounter challenges in listening comprehension due to limited access to auditory information. Interactive audio-visual learning videos have the potential to support language learning by integrating visual and textual representations that facilitate comprehension. This study aimed to explore the experiences of hearing-impaired students in using interactive audio-visual learning videos to enhance listening comprehension. This study employed a qualitative case study approach involving two eighth-grade hearing-impaired students from a public special school in Medan, Indonesia. The participants were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through classroom observations, structured interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed three major themes: increased engagement and motivation, the important role of visual supports in facilitating comprehension, and challenges related to accessibility and information presentation. The participants reported that pictures, written text, and contextual visual information helped them understand English learning materials more effectively, while fast-paced content and hearing limitations remained challenges during the learning process. The findings provide insights into how interactive audio-visual learning videos support English listening instruction for hearing-impaired students and may inform teachers in designing more accessible and inclusive learning environments.

Abstract

Education is not only oriented toward academic achievement but also toward the development of students' personalities, one of which is through the enhancement of intrapersonal intelligence, including self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-recognition, and independent decision-making. However, many students still experience difficulties in these areas, highlighting the need for effective guidance and counseling (GC) service management. This study aims to describe the management of guidance and counseling services in developing students' intrapersonal intelligence at SMA Mutiara 2 Bandung, focusing on the aspects of planning, organizing, implementation, evaluation, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data are collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving guidance and counseling teachers, the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, and students. The data are analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data trustworthiness is ensured through triangulation and member checking. The expected outcome of this study is a comprehensive description of the implementation of guidance and counseling service management in supporting the development of students' intrapersonal intelligence, including the factors influencing its effectiveness. This study is expected to contribute theoretically to the development of guidance and counseling management and provide practical recommendations for schools to improve the quality of guidance and counseling services in optimizing students' personal development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Green Accounting, sales growth, asset growth, and capital intensity on the financial performance of energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2022–2025 period. Financial performance is proxied using Return on Assets (ROA). This study applies a quantitative approach with a causal associative research method. The data used are secondary data obtained from the annual financial reports of energy sector companies published on the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The study population consisted of 91 companies, while the sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in 16 companies as research samples with a total of 64 observations. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression methods with the help of EViews 14 software. The results of the analysis indicate that Green Accounting has a negative and significant effect on financial performance. Conversely, sales growth, asset growth, and capital intensity do not show a significant effect on financial performance. However, together, Green Accounting, sales growth, asset growth, and capital intensity are proven to have a significant effect on company financial performance. The Adjusted R² value of 0.496163 indicates that 49.62% of the variation in financial performance can be explained by the four independent variables in this study, while the remaining 50.38% is influenced by other factors not included in the research model.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the politeness attitudes of fourth-grade elementary school students in social interactions and identify the factors influencing these attitudes. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation in three elementary schools in Cirebon City, namely SDN 1 Kedawung, SDN Kartini 1, and SDN Kartini IV. The findings indicate that students demonstrate relatively good levels of polite behavior in communication, respect toward teachers, cooperation with peers, compliance with school rules, and the use of polite expressions. However, inappropriate behavior is still observed in informal situations, and the application of polite expressions is not yet fully consistent among students. Students’ polite behavior is influenced by teacher role modeling, family environment, peer interaction, and the use of digital media. In addition, school programs such as the 5S culture and character habituation also contribute to the development of these behaviors. Overall, students’ politeness is shaped through the interaction of various factors within both school and social environments.

Abstract

Learning interest is widely recognized as a crucial factor influencing elementary school students' achievement in Mathematics, as low levels of interest may limit students' engagement during learning activities and ultimately affect their academic performance. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence students' interest in learning Mathematics and its contribution to learning outcomes is essential. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting students' interest in learning Mathematics and to examine its relationship with Mathematics achievement among elementary school students. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method based on the PRISMA framework, encompassing the stages of identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and synthesis of relevant studies. Articles were collected from Google Scholar, Garuda, ERIC, and ScienceDirect using keywords associated with the topic, and selected according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The findings indicate that students' interest in learning Mathematics is shaped by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include learning motivation, self-efficacy, prior knowledge, attitudes toward Mathematics, and psychological conditions, whereas external factors comprise teachers' instructional practices, learning media, teaching models, family support, and the school environment. Furthermore, the review demonstrates that learning interest has a positive and significant relationship with students' Mathematics achievement, suggesting that students with stronger learning interest tend to attain higher academic performance. These findings provide valuable insights for teachers and educational practitioners in designing instructional strategies that can enhance students' interest and improve Mathematics learning outcomes at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the speaking ability of fourth-grade elementary school students in storytelling learning activities, focusing on speaking fluency, pronunciation and intonation, and story mastery. Speaking ability is an essential language skill that supports students’ communication competence; however, many elementary school students still encounter difficulties in expressing ideas fluently, delivering stories coherently, and speaking confidently in front of an audience. Storytelling is considered an effective learning activity because it provides students with opportunities to practice oral communication in a meaningful and engaging context. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants are fourth-grade elementary school students. Data were collected through a storytelling performance test designed to assess students’ speaking abilities based on indicators of fluency, pronunciation and intonation, and story mastery. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings are expected to provide a comprehensive description of students’ speaking abilities in storytelling activities and to identify their strengths and weaknesses in each assessed aspect. Furthermore, the results are expected to contribute to the development of effective learning strategies for improving speaking skills and serve as a reference for teachers in designing more interactive and communicative language learning activities in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the persistence of student violations of school regulations at SMP Negeri 2 Siberut Barat Daya, Mentawai Islands Regency, including arriving late, failing to wear complete school uniforms, neglecting classroom cleaning duties, having hairstyles that did not comply with school rules, and using inappropriate language. The study aimed to analyze the school's control over students' disciplinary violations. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using Walter Reckless's Social Control Theory as the theoretical framework. The study involved 23 informants consisting of the principal, vice principal for student affairs, teachers, student council administrators, students, and parents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the school's control efforts in minimizing disciplinary violations were implemented through four main strategies: (1) monitoring and recording students' violations; (2) applying consistent educational sanctions; (3) establishing cooperation between the school and parents in supervising students' behavior; and (4) providing character development through routine school guidance activities. The study also found that students who frequently violated school regulations generally had low self-control, while strengthening external control through supervision, guidance, and collaboration with parents effectively reduced disciplinary violations in the school environment.
