Abstract

Healthy social relationships are one of the main pillars of students’ psychosocial and academic development at school. In reality, however, a number of students experience conditions of alienation or social isolation, marked by minimal interaction with peers, low involvement in group activities, and genuine difficulty in building meaningful interpersonal relationships. This study aims to describe in depth the process and outcomes of improving the social relationships of socially isolated students through individual counseling services. The study used a qualitative approach with an embedded case study design. The research subjects consisted of three secondary school students identified as socially isolated based on sociometric results, systematic observation, and recommendations from guidance and counseling teachers. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and counseling documentation. Data analysis referred to the model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldáña, comprising data condensation, data display, and iterative conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that individual counseling services conducted over six sessions significantly improved students’ social relationships through four main mechanisms: strengthening self-understanding, increasing self-confidence, developing interpersonal communication skills, and expanding involvement in group social activities. After receiving counseling, all subjects showed measurable behavioral changes, including an increase in the frequency of interaction with peers, courage in expressing opinions in class, and better social acceptance from the school environment. These findings confirm that individual counseling is an effective and relevant intervention in helping socially isolated students build more adaptive and functional social relationships.

Abstract

The problem addressed in this study was the low level of students' conceptual understanding of weight measurement and the limited use of learning models and instructional media that facilitate students in understanding mathematical concepts concretely. This study aimed to determine the improvement in second-grade students' understanding of weight measurement concepts after the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model assisted by Smart Ladder media. This research employed a quantitative approach using an experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 30 second-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Muara Batun. Data were collected through concept understanding tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the treatment. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the normality test, the Paired Sample t-Test, and the N-Gain test. The results showed that the mean pretest score was 56.00, while the mean posttest score increased to 74.33. The Paired Sample t-Test indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that Ha was accepted and H₀ was rejected, indicating a significant improvement in students' conceptual understanding after the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model assisted by Smart Ladder media. Furthermore, the average N-Gain score was 0.48 (48.07%), which falls into the moderate category. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Cooperative Learning model assisted by Smart Ladder media effectively improved second-grade students' understanding of weight measurement concepts at SD Negeri 3 Muara Batun.

Abstract

Speaking anxiety has become a critical issue among elementary school students learning English, as it can significantly hinder their participation and speaking development. Many young learners are reluctant to express themselves orally due to fear of making mistakes, negative evaluation, and low self-confidence, which reduces their opportunities to practice English and develop communicative competence. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the use of Wordwall Games in teaching speaking, examine how Wordwall helps reduce students' speaking anxiety, and investigate students' responses toward its use in speaking activities. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research was conducted with third-grade students at Sukamulya Elementary School from March to April 2026. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification to ensure the credibility of the findings. The findings revealed that the implementation of Wordwall Games created an interactive, enjoyable, and supportive learning environment that encouraged students to participate actively in speaking activities. Students became more enthusiastic, confident, and willing to speak English during classroom interactions, and the interactive activities helped them improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking fluency. Furthermore, Wordwall reduced students' speaking anxiety by creating a more relaxed and comfortable learning atmosphere in which students felt less afraid of making mistakes. Students expressed positive responses toward the use of Wordwall because learning through games increased their motivation, engagement, and confidence in using English for communication.

Abstract

Scoring in the Paskibra competition at SMA Negeri 4 Garut was previously done manually, judges recorded scores on paper while the committee tallied them using a calculator or spreadsheet, a slow and error-prone process lacking transparency. This study develops a website-based scoring system that lets judges enter scores directly and helps the committee generate accurate, transparent results. Built using the Agile method (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and review) with a PHP framework and MySQL database, the system was modeled through use case, activity, class, and entity relationship diagrams. It manages participant and jury data along with scoring criteria, automatically updates weighted scores, and produces rankings and printable reports. Black Box Testing confirmed the login, data management, scoring, and reporting features all work properly. The system makes Paskibra scoring faster, more accurate, and clearer for judges, the committee, and participants.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has influenced the communication patterns of elementary school students, making it important to examine its relationship with communication ethics. This study aimed to analyze the effect of social media use intensity on the communication ethics of students at SD Negeri 1 Sugihrejo. A quantitative survey design was employed involving 30 fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade students selected using total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, normality testing, simple linear regression, t-test, and coefficient of determination. The results showed that the intensity of social media use was relatively high with a mean score of 75.43, while students' communication ethics were categorized as good with a mean score of 79.10. Simple linear regression analysis produced a regression coefficient of 0.440 with a significance value of 0.104 (p>0.05), indicating that the intensity of social media use had no significant effect on students' communication ethics. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.092, indicating that social media use intensity explained only 9.2% of the variance in communication ethics, while the remaining 90.8% was influenced by other factors beyond this study. These findings suggest that students' communication ethics are more strongly influenced by character education, family environment, and school culture than by the intensity of social media use

Abstract

The Narrative Literature Review (NLR) approach was employed in this study to examine various scientific articles concerning the evaluation of educational programs in elementary schools based on the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) model. The data analysis involved stages of identification, selection, categorization, and synthesis of diverse research findings according to the four core components of the model. The literature review demonstrated that the success of a program largely depends on its relevance to the needs of students and schools. Other determining factors include teachers’ competencies, the availability of facilities, managerial support, as well as the effectiveness of program implementation and supervision. From the product component perspective, most programs were found to generate positive impacts on improving student learning outcomes, teaching quality, teacher competence, and institutional quality. However, implementation in practice continues to face challenges, including budget constraints, limited resources, and insufficient training opportunities. Overall, the CIPP model serves as a comprehensive and effective evaluation instrument for assessing the achievement of educational programs. This approach also provides a strong foundation for decision-making and the sustainable development of learning practices in elementary schools.

Abstract

Students need to be able to understand mathematical ideas in order to reach certain learning objectives. But the truth is that eighth graders at MTsN 1 Kota Padang still have a long way to go before they can grasp complex mathematical ideas. This is due, in part, to the fact that students are not actively involved in the discovery and construction of the concepts being studied because the learning process is still centred around the teacher. This study's overarching goal is to find out how eighth graders' grasp of statistical mathematics improved after using the Geogebra-assisted discovery learning methodology. Class VIII-1 was used as the experimental class and Class VIII-2 as the control class in this quantitative study that used a quasi-experimental design of the non-equivalent posttest-only control group type. Two tests, one preliminary and one final, made up the research instruments. The experimental class's average quiz scores varied during the discovery learning model's deployment, from 84.72 on the first quiz to 93.23 on the sixth. Another interesting finding from the final test was that the experimental class had a significantly higher average score (73.31 vs. 55.63 for the control class). The hypothesis test results showed that compared to pupils who learnt using traditional methods, those whose lessons included the GeoGebra-assisted Discovery Learning model had stronger grasps of mathematical concepts. Consequently, eighth graders at MTsN 1 Kota Padang improved their ability to understand mathematical concepts as a result of the 2025/2026 statistics curriculum's use of the GeoGebra-assisted Discovery Learning approach.
