Abstract

Education requires innovative learning media to enhance students' interest, motivation, and active participation in the learning process. The rapid development of educational technology encourages teachers to integrate digital media into classroom instruction to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences. However, the learning process at UPT SD Negeri 060793 Medan Maimun was still dominated by conventional teacher-centered methods, resulting in low student participation, limited interaction during lessons, and reduced learning interest, particularly in the Pancasila Education subject. These conditions indicate the need for innovative instructional media that can support student-centered learning while improving learning outcomes and motivation. Therefore, this study aimed to develop Canva-based learning media integrated with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model and to determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving elementary school students' learning interest. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research participants were 18 fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 060793 Medan Maimun. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, questionnaires, documentation, and expert validation sheets involving media and material experts. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques to evaluate the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed learning media. The findings revealed that the Canva-based learning media integrated with the Problem Based Learning model fulfilled the established criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Expert validation results indicated that the media was highly suitable for classroom implementation, while teacher and student responses demonstrated that the media was practical and easy to use. Furthermore, the implementation of the developed media significantly increased students' learning interest, classroom participation, enthusiasm, motivation, and engagement throughout the learning activities. Students became more active in discussing problems, expressing opinions, collaborating with peers, and completing learning tasks. In conclusion, the Canva-based learning media integrated with the Problem Based Learning model is an innovative and effective instructional alternative that supports interactive, student-centered learning and contributes to improving students' learning interest in Pancasila Education at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study was based on the limited availability of facilities and students’ boredom with learning basic track and field movements such as running, jumping, and throwing. The objective of this study is to develop an innovation using a basic track and field movement learning model based on an adventure circuit themed “The Jungle Survivor,” utilizing low-cost materials, and presented in the form of a Teacher’s Guidebook and instructional demonstration videos. The method used in this R&D study modified the ADDIE framework into the ADDE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Evaluation) due to time constraints. The research results showed a feasibility percentage of 92.86%, meeting the criterion of “highly valid” based on assessments by media experts and subject matter experts. Thus, this adventure circuit product based on modified equipment was deemed highly suitable for use as an effective alternative medium to enhance students’ enthusiasm for learning while creating a more engaging and interactive athletics learning experience.

Abstract

Mobile phone use in schools can support learning, but it may also disrupt students’ concentration, discipline, and social interaction. This study aimed to understand the implementation of a mobile phone restriction policy and describe student and parent responses at SMA Negeri 12 Padang and SMK Negeri 5 Padang. The policy was based on Circular Letter No. 100.3.4.4/3240/SEK/DISDIK-2025 issued by the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation involving 18 informants from school leadership, teachers, students, and parents. The findings show that both schools implemented the policy through different mechanisms. SMA Negeri 12 Padang had previously used a centralized classroom-box storage system, while SMK Negeri 5 Padang relied more heavily on subject-teacher supervision. Policy implementation was constrained by inadequate storage facilities, inconsistent supervision, the absence of a designated task force, and irregular evaluation and reporting. Student and parent responses indicated general acceptance of the restriction’s purpose, while also emphasizing the need for access during learning and emergencies, secure device storage, and accessible family communication. The findings indicate that policy acceptance is influenced by clear and consistent implementation, secure storage, and accommodation of learning needs.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low narrative text reading comprehension ability among elementary school students, as evidenced by their difficulties in understanding reading content as a whole, identifying relationships between pieces of information, drawing conclusions, and grasping implied information in texts. Furthermore, the reading comprehension learning process has not yet fully engaged students in critical thinking and problem-solving activities. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by sequential picture media on the narrative text reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade elementary school students. This research employs a quantitative approach using a Quasi-Experimental Design method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 31 fourth-grade students from SDN 2 Gunungbatu as the experimental group and 28 fourth-grade students from SDN Pasirangin as the control group. Data were collected using reading comprehension ability tests through Pretest  and Posttest. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, Independent Sample t-Test, and N-Gain tests. The results indicate that there is a significant effect of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by sequential picture media on students' narrative text reading comprehension ability. The Independent Sample t-Test yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of < 0.001 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of H₁. The N-Gain test results showed an average improvement of 74.76% for the experimental group (high category) and 46.27% for the control group (moderate category). Thus, the Problem Based Learning model assisted by sequential picture media is effective in improving the narrative text reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

The threat of pornography addiction among adolescents has evolved into a multidimensional crisis. Easy access to pornographic content in the digital revolution era increases exposure to repeated dopaminergic hyperstimulation. Recent clinical neuroscience literature explicitly links this condition to a disrupted reward system, weakened inhibitory control, and reduced volume in the prefrontal cortex (PFC). This study aims to formulate the Ulul Albab educational paradigm as a comprehensive preventive and curative framework for addressing pornography addiction through a transdisciplinary hybridization of Islamic character education, thematic Quranic exegesis, modern clinical neuroscience, and Islamic guidance and counseling based on Tazkiyatun Nafs (purification of the soul). Employing a qualitative approach based on library research and literature review, this study synthesizes empirical quantitative data from recent neuro-educational studies as secondary sources to contextualize the Quranic concept of Ulul Albab. The literature review indicates that a dialectical balance between spiritual awareness (Dhikr) and analytical acuity strengthens inhibitory control. In the curative dimension, the internalization of this character activates Nafs al-Lawwamah (the self-reproaching soul); neurobiologically, this correlates with moral guilt in the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex (dmPFC) and anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), thereby triggering Taubat Nasuha (sincere repentance). Structured spiritual practices—including the tripartite counseling method (Takhalli, Tahalli, Tajalli) and the Siyaq contextual memorization method—support spiritual neuroplasticity. This synthesis of literature demonstrates that faith-based character education is capable of rehabilitating neurotoxic damage resulting from digital addiction.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of students’ interest and engagement in mathematics learning in elementary schools, which is still dominated by conventional teaching methods. This condition causes students to be passive, less motivated, and experience difficulties in understanding abstract mathematical concepts. This study aims to describe the strategy for implementing an interactive learning model based on media in mathematics learning for fifth-grade students in Baubau City. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The research subjects consisted of teachers and fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kaobula, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, while data validity was tested through source and technique triangulation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the strategy used by the teacher in implementing the interactive media-based learning model was carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. In the planning stage, the teacher prepared lesson plans, teaching materials, and interactive learning media such as PowerPoint presentations, instructional videos, and visual images tailored to the material. In the implementation stage, the teacher began the lesson by providing motivation and linking the material to students’ daily experiences, followed by the use of visual media and videos to attract students’ attention. Furthermore, the teacher applied interactive learning strategies by actively involving students in observing, questioning, group discussions, and problem-solving activities, while the teacher acted as a facilitator. In the evaluation stage, the teacher administered practice questions and conducted question-and-answer sessions to assess students’ understanding. The use of media such as PowerPoint, videos, and visual images was proven to help students understand abstract mathematical concepts more concretely and to increase students’ activeness in the learning process.
