Abstract

Mother tongue is the first language that individuals acquire naturally through interactions in the family and community environment. In the world of elementary education, this language has an important role as the main means of supporting cognitive, social, emotional development, and strengthening children's cultural values. This study aims to examine the contribution of mother tongue in improving students' understanding of subject matter, as well as its impact on language skills and interaction with Indonesian. With a literature study approach, this study examines various scientific references that discuss the role of mother tongue in elementary school environments. The results of the study indicate that the use of mother tongue in the learning process can improve students' understanding, create a more conducive learning atmosphere, and provide a strong foundation in the multilingual learning process. In addition, good mastery of the mother tongue also strengthens students' metalinguistic awareness which is very important in acquiring a second language. However, if its use is not balanced with the right strategy, the dominance of the mother tongue can lead to code mixing which has an impact on limited mastery of the Indonesian language. Therefore, strategic integration of the mother tongue in learning at the elementary school level is needed, in order to support academic achievement while preserving local cultural heritage. This study recommends the importance of educational policies that support the balanced use of mother tongues as part of a contextual and inclusive teaching approach.

Abstract

This study aims to improve grade IV students' understanding of metaphorical majas material through the application of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model combined with domino card media. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) conducted in two cycles in class IV B Ibsi School, with a total of 21 students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and written tests, which were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding after the implementation of the action. The pretest average score of 69 increased to 89 in the first cycle posttest, and reached 95 in the second cycle posttest, with learning completeness reaching 100%. This finding shows that the TGT model with domino card media is effective in creating an active, fun learning atmosphere, and supports a deeper understanding of the concept of metaphorical majas.

Abstract

The rapid development of the society 5.0 era requires the education system to be able to prepare students with high-level thinking skills. This study aims to describe and analyze the application of RAKUS (Rational, Analytical, Critical, Universal, and Systematic) thinking patterns in the learning process in class 5A of SD Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach to explore in depth the process and form of implementation of RAKUS thinking skills through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed aspirationally and interpretatively according to the Miles and Huberman paradigm. The results showed that the majority of students had been able to actualize the RAKUS aspect significantly, with a percentage reaching 80-87%, although there were some students who were not optimal. Problem-solving-based learning, group discussions, and reflection are effective strategies for developing RAKUS thinking skills. The application of RAKUS thinking patterns in elementary schools is a strategic step in preparing a smart, critical, and adaptive young generation to face complex and dynamic future challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the availability of reading books and the reading interest of fifth grade students of SDN Pasirlaja 01. The research method used is quantitative with simple correlation research. The population of this study was all fifth grade students of SDN Pasirlaja 01. The sample of this study was the entire population of 38 students or using a population study. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire. The data analysis technique used in this study was product moment. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the availability of reading books and the reading interest of fifth grade students of SDN Pasirlaja 01. This can be seen from the results of the product moment test with a significant value of 0.000 <α = 0.05. In addition, the availability of reading books has a strong relationship with students' reading interest as indicated by a correlation value of 0.560 which indicates the degree of relationship between the basic literacy variable and the reading interest variable of 56.0%. Then the availability of reading books has a positive relationship with reading interest. This means that the better the availability of reading books, the better the reading interest of students.

Abstract

This article discusses the philosophical thought of social positivism developed by Auguste Comte as a response to the dominance of church dogma during the Middle Ages. The aim of this study is to explore the epistemology of social positivism as a foundation for building a scientific basis for the social sciences. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data for this study were obtained from various relevant literary sources. The findings indicate that Auguste Comte classified the development of human knowledge into three stages: theological, metaphysical, and positive. Comte emphasized that scientific knowledge must be based on empirical facts that are observable and systematically measurable, including in the study of social phenomena. Sociology, as the highest science in Comte’s classification, is responsible for coordinating the development of other sciences by employing methods such as observation, comparison, and historical analysis. Comte’s thought made a significant contribution to the development of scientific paradigms in the social sciences by rejecting metaphysical approaches and prioritizing a scientific-positivistic approach.

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning media in the form of bio batteries from fruit peel waste based on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) approach to improve science students' practical skills. The study used the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The products developed were bio battery kits and STEM-based Student Worksheets (LKPD). The validation results showed that the developed media obtained a score of 92% from material experts and 96% from media experts. The trial was conducted on 32 grade VIII students with a pretest-posttest. The results showed an increase in the average score from 64.21 to 81.40 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05). Bio batteries from orange and pineapple peels produced the highest voltage and were able to turn on an analog wall clock. The response of students and teachers to the product was very positive. The STEM approach encouraged students to be more active in experiments.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Pop-Up Book learning media based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL) as a creative solution to improve students’ conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills in the topic of the Solar System. The research is driven by the issue of low student engagement and interest due to conventional, theory-based science teaching, particularly in abstract materials. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D development model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The instruments used include expert validation sheets, student and teacher response questionnaires, observation sheets, as well as pre-test and post-test assessments. The results revealed that the Pop-Up Book based on PjBL has high validity in terms of content and design, received positive feedback from teachers and students, and effectively enhanced student comprehension, as reflected in improved post-test scores. Moreover, the media fostered active participation and collaborative learning among students. Although the dissemination phase was not conducted due to limited time and resources, the trial phase showed that the media is feasible and holds potential for broader implementation. Therefore, the PjBL-based Pop-Up Book can serve as an innovative alternative to enhance the quality of science learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study examines the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) method to enhance the understanding of two-step instructions among learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The aim of this research is to provide a comprehensive explanation of the application of PECS as a method to improve communication skills and the ability to follow two-step instructions in children diagnosed with ASD. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through direct observation, interviews, and documentation at Sonokwijenan II/96 Surabaya State Elementary School. The results indicate that the use of PECS is effective in improving students’ ability to comprehend sequential two-step instructions and express their needs.

Abstract

Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini yaitu, hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA masih rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA pada siswa kelas IV di SDN 03 Bengkayang. Saran yang diharapkan oleh peneliti, guru diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kerjasama antar sekolah yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kerjasama antar guru kelas, dalam mencari solusi pemecahan masalah yang ada di sekolah, kerjasama untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA pada siswa kelas IV khususnya di SDN 03 Bengkayang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) kolaboratif. Dalam penelitian ini terdapat hasil tes belajar siswa secara keseluruhan, jumlah nilai 2695, rata-rata 81,67%, jumlah siswa yang memperoleh nilai KKM sebanyak 33 siswa, ketuntasan klasikal 100%. Simpulan berdasarkan data yang diperoleh melalui instrumen pengumpulan data Pre-Test, Observasi, dan Tes, dalam penelitian ini secara keseluruhan menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah di SDN 03 Bengkayang, telah mencapai target seperti yang diharapkan dalam penelitian ini, yang menyatakan bahwa rata-rata hasil belajar peserta didik IPA telah mencapai KKM sebesar 81,67% seperti yang diharapkan oleh peneliti. maka penelitian ini dinyatakan berhasil, dan penelitian dinyatakan tuntas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi program inovatif “AlGhozali Diferensiasi” dalam meningkatkan minat dan bakat peserta didik di salahsatu sekolah swasta di Kabupaten Purwakarta. Menggunakan pendekatandeskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan pengisiankuesioner. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa program tersebut mendapatrespon positif dari peserta didik, yaitu meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, motivasi,serta suasana belajar yang lebih menyenangkan. Namun, tantangan yang masihdihadapi dalam pelaksanaanya adalah kendala finansial yang dialami oleh orangtua peserta didik. Secara keseluruhan, program ini efektif dalam menyalurkanpotensi peserta didik, serta dapat mendorong dan mengembangkan minat danbakat yang dimiliki oleh peserta didik. Program ini dapat dijadikan sebagai acuanmodel pembelajaran berdiferensiasi yang relevan dengan Kurikulum Merdeka olehSekolah Dasar lainnya.
