Abstract

Fine motor skills are a crucial aspect of early childhood development, particularly as a foundation for preparing pre-writing abilities. One relevant form of stimulation is cutting activities. However, children's interest in this activity tends to be low due to monotonous and less varied teaching methods. This study aims to improve the fine motor skills of children aged 3–4 years through storytelling-based cutting activities. The study adopted a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach following the spiral model proposed by Kemmis and McTaggart, conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were students of the Dewi Masyithoh II playgroup. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques. The findings of this study indicate that cutting straight-line patterns on animal-themed paper combined with a storytelling approach could enhance children's learning motivation and fine motor skills. In addition, individualized guidance proved effective in assisting children who experienced difficulties in cutting. The percentage of children categorized as developing as expected or very well increased from 9.09% in the initial condition to 54.54% during the first cycle, and reached 81.81% during the second cycle. Thus, the storytelling-based cutting approach is proven effective in supporting the development of fine motor skills in early childhood

Abstract

This research aims to enhance the cognitive development of hyperactive Children with Special Needs (CSN) through the game of Uno Blocks at TK Dewi Sartika Gumukmas. Hyperactive children often exhibit difficult-to-control behaviors, such as difficulty focusing, concentrating, and impaired social interaction. The Uno Blocks game was chosen because it requires concentration and can improve motor skills and focus attention. This study used a case study design and a qualitative methodology, gathering data through documentation, interviews, and observation.  A child at TK Dewi Sartika with the initials KZ who exhibited hyperactive traits was the focus of the study.  The research subject provided primary data, and pertinent literature provided secondary data.  Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing are all part of the Miles and Huberman paradigm of data analysis.  According to the study's findings, hyperactive CSNs can benefit from playing Uno Blocks in terms of their cognitive development.  Their ability to solve problems, think logically, focus, and think creatively have all improved.  Children were able to categorize blocks, construct increasingly intricate structures, and produce original designs.  Additionally, the game promoted the growth of social and emotional competencies like emotional regulation and teamwork.  The Uno Blocks game can therefore be a useful learning method to enhance the cognitive skills of hyperactive CSN, and it is intended that these results will be used as a guide by educators to create more successful educational initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the creativity of children aged 5-6 years through three-color jumputan batik art activities at An-Nida Kindergarten. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the Kemmis and McTaggart model consisting of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. This study involved 11 children as subjects, consisting of 2 boys and 9 girls. The three-color jumputan batik activity was chosen because it can stimulate creativity, fine motor skills, and children's color exploration abilities. The results of the study showed a significant increase in children's creativity after following the action cycle. In the pre-action, the average percentage of children's creativity was 36%, categorized as Not Developing (BB). In the first cycle, it increased to 58%, categorized as Still Developing (MB), and in the second cycle, it reached 89%, categorized as Very Well Developing (BSB). This indicates that the three-color jumputan batik activity is effective in improving children's creativity. This study contributes to the development of creative learning methods for early childhood education, as well as opening up opportunities to use traditional Indonesian art in education to foster a love of culture in children.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the PJBL model, in conjunction with the Ecogreen and Ecoenzyme ideas, is implemented at Miftahul Ulum Kindergarten and how it affects the development of early NIN environmental consciousness.  The research employed a descriptive qualitative methodology, gathering data through documentation, in-depth interviews, and observation.  According to the study's findings, PJBL based on Ecogreen and Ecoenzyme can boost kids' active participation in educational tasks like recycling, planting plants, and turning organic waste into Ecoenzyme.  A crucial component of this investigation is the separation of organic and non-organic garbage.  While non-organic trash (plastic, metal, and paper) needs special processing through recycling or reduced use, organic waste—such as food scraps, leaves, or fruit peels—is biodegradable and can be converted into compost or ecoenzyme.  Through direct sensory exercises, such as classifying waste according to texture, color, and odor, children are encouraged to comprehend the basic distinctions between the two forms of waste within the context of learning. This enhances conceptual understanding and fosters the development of sustainable habits.  The primary obstacle to PJBL implementation is the requirement for sufficient infrastructure, facilities, and teacher preparation.  All things considered, the PJBL model combined with Ecogreen and Ecoenzyme works well to foster environmental consciousness and critical life skills in young children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using puzzles as a learning medium for expressive language for 5-6 year olds at Wijaya Kusuma Kindergarten, Palembang. The results of observations at Wijaya Kusuma Kindergarten show that the learning media used are still less innovative and have not been able to attract children's interest in learning actively. Learning activities that tend to be monotonous make children passive so that the development of children's expressive language has not developed properly. This type of research is experimental research, namely pre-experimental type One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design by providing treatment in the form of puzzles to children, then comparing children's expressive language abilities before and after being given puzzles. The sample used in this study was class B1, totaling 16 children. The method of collecting research data used a checklist observation sheet. The method in analyzing research data is by using the paired sample T test. The results of the study based on the paired sample T test can be tcount> ttable or 32.940> 1.753 that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant influence of 0.000 which is smaller than 0.05, stating that the effectiveness of using puzzle media as a medium for expressive language learning for 5-6 year olds at Wijaya Kusuma Kindergarten, Palembang.

Abstract

The lack of instructional media utilization has resulted in less active and suboptimal learning processes, particularly in syllable pronunciation among early childhood learners. Young children tend to learn through play; therefore, engaging learning media are needed to enhance their participation. This study aims to develop the Magic Letter Pinwheel as an alternative instructional medium to support syllable pronunciation for Group B children at TK Dharma Wanita 03 Lojejer, Wuluhan Subdistrict, Jember Regency. The research employed a research and development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The research subjects were Group B students, with assessments conducted by three validators: a media expert, a material expert, and a learning expert. The development process followed the ADDIE stages and utilized easily accessible materials. Validation results indicated a feasibility score of 95%, categorized as highly appropriate. Improvements in children's pronunciation skills were observed, with pretest scores at 80% and posttest scores at 90%, reflecting a 13% increase. Therefore, the Magic Letter Pinwheel is considered effective for enhancing syllable pronunciation skills in early childhood education.

Abstract

Number recognition ability are an important part of early childhood cognitive development. At this stage children begin to understand the concept of numbers and numerals, and are able to recognise and name basic numbers. This study aims to improve the ability to recognise numbers concretely, strengthen basic numerical skills and increase their interest in learning mathematics from an early age. This research was conducted through classroom action research (PTK). The research subjects consisted of 12 group A students aged 4-5 years. The classroom action research conducted adopted the Kurt Lewin model which consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results showed an increase in students' ability to recognise numbers. The increase in the ability to recognise numbers can be seen in the pre-cycle the number of children who developed very well / optimally or 25% of students, increased in cycle I to 50% of the number of students who developed very well / optimally, and in cycle II increased to 75% of students developing very well / optimally. The Sticky Note Counting Flower Media that is applied is able to provide opportunities for students to learn more deeply about basic numbers, making it easier for students to remember and reinterpret. Therefore, it can be concluded that Sticky Note Counting Flower Media can optimally improve the ability to recognise numbers in children aged 4-5 years.

Abstract

The purpose of the SGSE (Smart Game for Sex Education) media in improving sexual education for children includes the introduction of the boundaries of genitals between men and women, the introduction of body parts that may be touched and may not be touched, and the introduction of normal emotional reactions. The subjects in this study were validators of material experts, media experts, language experts, and 9 children at TAUD Luqmanul Hakim Kindergarten. The results of the material expert validity test obtained a percentage of 92% with the category of "very feasible". The results of the media expert validity test obtained a percentage of 94% with the category of "very feasible", and the results of the language expert validity test obtained a percentage of 92% with the category of "very feasible" then strengthened by the results of media trials in early childhood through individual trials with a percentage obtained of 83.33% and small group trials with a percentage obtained of 93%, the results of both trials are included in the criteria of "developing very well". So it is concluded that the SGSE (Smart Game for Sex Education) media is feasible and effective for improving sexual education for children aged 5-6 years.

Abstract

Pendidikan anak usia dini telah terbukti memainkan peranan penting dalam perkembangan anak pada tingkat selanjutnya. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran pada tingkat ini berbeda dengan jenjang selanjutnya sehingga harus dirancang dengan cermat untuk memfasilitasi seluruh aspek perkembangan anak secara optimal. Fakta dilapangan menunjukkan proses pembelajaran seringkali dengan bentuk verbal dan penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi sehingga menghambat perkembangan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun di TK Flamboyan Pagaruyung. Penelitian ini mengusulkan solusi dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis alam. Solusi yang diusulkan mencerminkan tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunan model pembelajaran berbasis alam terhadap kemampuan kognitif anak usia 5-6 di TK Flamboyan Pagaruyung. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Kuantitatif dengan metode Quasi Eksperimen. Analisis penelitian menggunakan uji Paired sample T-Test dengan hasil penelitian yang menunjukkan nilai  sig.(2-tailed) sebesar 0.000 yang berarti ada pengaruh model pembelajaran berbasis alam terhadap kemampuan kognitif anak usia 5-6 di TK Flamboyan Pagaruyung.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether interactive videos can introduce English vocabulary to children aged 5-6 years in Group B at Pelita Hati Kids Kindergarten, Pekanbaru. The type of research used is experimental research. The subjects of this study were 30 children aged 5-6 years. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing. The results of this study show an improvement in learning through interactive videos, as seen from the average pre-test and post-test scores: the average listening pre-test and post-test scores were 2.35 and 3.90, respectively; the average speaking pre-test and post-test scores were 1.58 and 2.92; and the average writing pre-test and post-test scores were 1.47 and 2.58. Thus, these aspects can be improved through the use of interactive videos
