Abstract

This research examines the application of restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses in academic journal articles, focusing on their syntactic and functional significance within linguistic discourse. This study utilizes data from the research titled “Verbal Humor in Selected Indonesian Stand-Up Comedians’ Discourse: Semantic Analysis.” The research uses GVTH to identify and classify relative sentences, examining their contributions to semantic clarity and literary sophistication. Restrictive clauses offer precise definitions essential for academic specificity, but non-restrictive clauses supply additional details that enhance the text. The findings underscore non-native English speakers' difficulties regarding relative clauses, shaped by grammatical disparities between their original language and English. This research emphasizes the necessity of learning relative clause usage to fulfill the requirements of high-quality academic writing. The study presents instructional implications to improve Indonesian graduate students’ and teachers’ academic writing abilities, who face mounting pressure to publish in foreign publications. Subsequent studies may build upon these findings by examining relative clause utilization across a wider corpus of academic literature and fields.

Abstract

This research is included in research and development (R&D) by applying the ADDIE model. This research is motivated by the fact that teachers are not optimal in using technology-based learning media. This causes low learning outcomes for the fourth-grade students in the material of my area and its natural wealth. This study aims to test the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of learning materials developed by Smart Apps Creator (SAC) in enhancing learning outcomes. The population involved in this research is the fourth-grade students of SD Negeri Klumprit 04, a total of 32 students. The data collection techniques include test and non-test methods, such as observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The study results show that the Smart Apps Creator (SAC) learning media was developed with researcher-recorded voiceovers and self-taken images. The feasibility assessment indicates very feasible criteria, with scores from media experts (88%), material experts (83%), students (98%), and teachers (94%). Its effectiveness is demonstrated by a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with an N-Gain score of 0.7007 (high category).

Abstract

This study aims to identify effective evaluation management strategies to reduce school dropout rates and enhance educational participation in East Nusa Tenggara Province (ENTP), Eastern Indonesia. Employing a qualitative methodology with a case study approach, the research analyzes educational disparities between urban and rural areas and the effectiveness of current management policies and practices. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The findings were analyzed employing a modified descriptive-analytic approach. The results reveal that the primary factors contributing to school dropouts in ENTP include poverty, limited geographical accessibility, and low awareness of the value of education. While incentive-based policies and community-driven education management have yielded positive results, this study advocates for integrating contemporary educational management principles—such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE), technological innovation, and enhanced community participation. The policy recommendations emphasize the improvement of educational infrastructure, strengthening incentive mechanisms, and implementing contextually grounded strategies to advance inclusive and sustainable education in support of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

Abstract

The Indonesian government has enhanced educational quality and teacher professionalism via teacher certification. This research investigates the professional identity of Indonesian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers, who have not been certified, and how they perceive their teaching career and professionalism. This research employs a qualitative case study design to explore the reflective practices of ten teachers who do not possess certification (or have not undergone a certification program). The data collection involved two primary methods: a modified questionnaire comprising six aspects of teacher professional identity and semi-structured interviews. The research findings suggest a tough professional identity beyond formal credentials, particularly the satisfaction and fulfilment of teachers without certification. Collaborative initiatives between the government, educational institutions, and relevant stakeholders are suggested to create a more conducive and rewarding teacher environment.

Abstract

The research employed a quasi-experimental method by administering treatment to one group. The treatment of one of the groups was used to compare the results of the experiments. In this case, the control class is a class that is treated with expository learning, while the experimental class itself is treated with a sex education approach. The research results indicate that the provision of sex education modules is both excellent and effective, serving as a crucial first step in enhancing students' understanding of sex education, as evidenced by an increase in their knowledge. Schools, in particular, can accept the implemented modules. There is a significant difference in the average use of sex education modules for the pre-test of the experimental group (implementation of the sex education module) and the post-test of the experimental group (implementation of the sex education module). However, the significance value is greater than 0.05.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of class X students in manufacturing engineering drawing at SMK Dhuafa Padang by implementing ESQ-based e-learning model. The method used is Research and Development (R&D), which includes planning, development, trial, and product revision stages. The research results indicate that ESQ-based e-learning model effectively improve student learning outcomes. In the trial phase, 86.67% of students scored ≥ 70, showing a significant increase compared to before the implementation of this device. In addition, ESQ-based e-learning model was validated by experts and positively influenced student character, with a positive regression coefficient of 0.720. This research concludes that ESQ-based e-learning model improves student learning outcomes and character and can be used as a valid, practical, and efficient learning medium in manufacturing engineering drawing.

Abstract

Code mixing is one of the sociolinguistic studies characterized by the mixing of two or more languages. Code-mixing events that occur can vary and are caused by various things. In the UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan learning process, code mixing cannot be avoided due to the regional origin of students studying at UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. Different regional backgrounds cause code mixing among students during learning. Thus, the results of the analysis of this research show that four types of code mixing occur at UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan during learning, namely: a) Word code mixing, b) Phrase code mixing, c) Clause code mixing, and d) Mixed barcode. In addition to identifying the types of code mixing, this research also uncovered the backgrounds contributing to code mixing at UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, which include: a) Identification of roles (speakers and speech partners), b) Identification of varieties or styles of language features, and c) Limitations of language or terms.
