This research aims to reveal the values of patriotism reflected in the figure of a soldier in defending his country with Riffaterre's semiotic theory. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Song lyrics are analyzed through the process of heuristic reading, hermeneutic reading, matrix, model, variant, and hypogram. The results found are; based on heuristic reading, the lyrics of the song "Los! Los! Los!" tells the heart of a person who fights against an enemy country by sacrificing his life. In hermeneutic reading, the meaning of the song lyrics “Los!” Los! Los!" is not only about sacrifice and loyalty to the country, but the courage to lead the troops with optimism to achieve peace. Variants of the song's lyrics are battle and sacrifice. The hypogram in the lyrics of the song "Los! Los! Los!“ is a potential hypogram ”from beginning to end this battle is futile". The hypogram is adjusted based on the matrix and variants contained in the song lyrics about the war that sacrificed many soldiers' lives. Abstract

Globalization is a phenomenon that has brought significant impacts worldwide, including in Indonesia, particularly concerning national cultural identity. Amid this sweeping tide, Japan managed to navigate successfully through its Meiji Restoration. This article explores how the Meiji Restoration model could potentially help Indonesia reconstruct its identity and revitalize its culture. Using a library research method and a philosophical approach, this study reflects on Japan's transformation during the Meiji Restoration, which successfully integrated traditional values with modernity, and compares it to Indonesia's current situation. The findings reveal that social transformation, political reform, and cultural identity reconstruction were key to Japan’s success in overcoming the pressures of globalization. In Indonesia's context, reforming education to instill Indonesian values, adopting flexible cultural preservation strategies, and fostering synergy between the government and society to create sustainable cultural policies are imperative. Indonesia’s cultural identity must be seen as a reflection of the nation's character and mentality, not merely its outward symbols or traditions. This article recommends further research on education models that instill cultural character from an early age, technological strategies for promoting culture, and the integration of traditional values into the creative economy. Such approaches aim to ensure Indonesia’s cultural identity remains strong and relevant amidst global dynamics while thriving on the international stage.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze errors in the use of jouken hyougen among learners of the Japanese language. It focuses on identifying the common types of errors and describing the factors that cause these errors. The research employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The participants consist of 21 students from Widyatama University, who have studied Japanese for at least two years. Data were collected through written tests, multiple choice questions, true-false questions, and questionnaires. The result of the data analysis reveal that the most frequent errors occured in the use of the tara form, followed by errors in the to and ba forms. Many learners experience difficulties in understanding the appropriate context for each sentence structure, requiring more time to study jouken hyougen, experiencing confusion in distinguishing the different forms, and make mistakes in applying the gramatical rules. The percentage of errors recorded was 52.37% for the to form, 47.61% for the ba form, 76.19% for the tara form, and 33.32% for the nara form. The factors contributing to these errors include learners lack of understanding of the proper function and use of each form in sentences, the influence of interference of their mother tongue, insufficient practice in writing and speaking with jouken hyougen in real life situations, and social factors.

Abstract

This study investigates stress and emotion management strategies among teachers in Japanese and Indonesian state schools, focusing on how cultural factors and emotional intelligence influence coping mechanisms. Using a qualitative literature review, the research synthesizes findings from studies published over the last decade. The analysis identifies key themes, including the distinct cultural approaches of each country. Japanese teachers predominantly employ structured professional development and mindfulness practices, reflecting cultural values of self-discipline and emotional control. Conversely, Indonesian teachers rely on community-based support and spirituality, rooted in their communal and religious traditions. The findings highlight the central role of emotional intelligence in managing stress, improving resilience, and fostering effective teaching practices in both settings. Challenges such as high workloads, student discipline, and the rapid shift to online teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic underscore the need for robust coping strategies. The study concludes that culturally tailored interventions, such as mindfulness training for Japanese teachers and community-based workshops for Indonesian teachers, are essential for enhancing teacher well-being and effectiveness. Policymakers and educators should prioritize emotional intelligence development and supportive school environments to address these challenges comprehensively

Abstract

This article aims to examine the evolution of Japanese cultural influence in design and fashion styles in Indonesia through a systematic review approach. Since the early 2000s, Japanese fashion trends have entered the Indonesian market, bringing unique and innovative design elements. This study aims to explore how these Japanese cultural elements are adapted and integrated into the local context, as well as their impact on the cultural identity of Indonesian society. Through an analysis of existing literature, it was found that fashion design students have begun to adopt Japanese cultural elements in their works and the adaptation of Japanese culture in contemporary fashion encompasses profound values. Additionally, the collaboration between batik motifs and kimono demonstrates the potential for innovation in fashion design, while social media plays a crucial role in disseminating these trends among the youth. Despite the numerous studies conducted, there remains a gap in systematic reviews regarding the evolution of Japanese cultural influence. Therefore, this article is expected to contribute new insights into the interaction between Japanese and Indonesian cultures in the context of fashion, as well as its implications for the creative industry and local cultural identity.

Abstract

Resilience is a fundamental psychological trait that enables individuals to overcome difficulty and grow stronger through challenges. Naruto, one of the most influential Japanese anime series, presents a compelling portrayal of resilience through its protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki. This study explores Naruto as a narrative model of resilience, analysing his character development through psychological, cultural, and narrative frameworks. Drawing upon post-traumatic growth theory, the Hero’s Journey, and Japanese cultural values, this research examines how Naruto’s journey—from an outcast to a respected leader—exemplifies emotional intelligence, perseverance, and adaptive coping mechanisms. The findings suggest that Naruto provides a unique representation of resilience as a dynamic and socially influenced process, shaped by mentorship, emotional regulation, and a strong sense of purpose. Furthermore, the global appeal of Naruto underscores the universal relevance of resilience narratives, demonstrating how anime serves as a powerful medium for psychological and cultural storytelling. By bridging psychological theories with anime studies, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of how media influences personal development and social identity across cultures.
