Abstract

Global transformations necessitate paradigm shifts in education, particularly through the integration of technology into teaching and learning. This shift encourages a transition from traditional methods to active learning strategies, presenting both opportunities and challenges for teachers seeking to enhance professional competence. Field observations reveal that the implementation of technology-based active learning remains limited, underscoring the need for deeper pedagogical understanding. The Community Service Program (PKM) conducted in elementary schools in Magelang, Central Java, aimed to strengthen teacher professionalism by developing teaching modules that integrate active learning with technological tools. The program employed three stages: mentoring, modeling, and assessment, using questionnaires administered before and after workshops. Results demonstrated significant improvements in pedagogical competence (96.68%) and professional competence (99.97%), highlighting the effectiveness of revised teaching modules. These outcomes emphasize the importance of integrating active learning strategies with technology to foster sustainable professional growth. Ultimately, the PKM initiative contributes to long-term improvements in instructional quality and enriches students' learning experience.

Abstract

The lack of comprehension of the Merdeka Curriculum among elementary school teachers generally affects how they implement differentiated learning in the classroom. This program aims to 1) assist elementary school teachers with the Merdeka Curriculum; 2) assist elementary teachers with the student diversity in differentiated learning; and 3) share best practices in differentiated learning implementation with elementary teachers. To accomplish the aforementioned goals, especially for 24 primary school teachers, a variety of strategies were used, including offline and online workshops. The findings of the interview and the workshop observations indicate that elementary school teachers' comprehension of the Merdeka curriculum has improved. To assist them in putting differentiated learning into practice, the majority of them are adept at modifying the teaching module (MA), which covers understanding learning outcomes (CP), expanding them into learning objectives (TP), and so on. Elementary school teachers in Kab. Banjarnegara & Kab. Wonosobo now have a greater knowledge of differentiated learning in the classroom and the Merdeka curriculum after attending the workshops. It is intended that teachers can completely incorporate differentiated learning into the classroom to provide students with relevant learning experiences.

Abstract

This study addresses the utilization of rice husk waste as a planting medium to promote vegetable cultivation in household gardens, aiming to reduce household expenses and improve the nutritional health of Desa Rabak residents. The rice husk, a common agricultural byproduct, enhances soil structure, aeration, and nutrient availability, supporting sustainable agricultural practices. The community engagement program (PkM) was conducted on October 15, 2024, involving 26 residents, including the village farmer group leader, and a team from Universitas Terbuka. Activities included theoretical explanations about rice husk benefits, practical demonstrations of organic liquid fertilizer application, distribution of coffee and fruit seedlings, and awarding prizes for active participation. Participants also received education on vegetable gardening techniques and the benefits of consuming self-cultivated produce. The program demonstrated significant potential for sustainable farming practices by transforming waste into productive resources, leading to reduced household expenses and enhanced community health. Moreover, it fostered community awareness of Universitas Terbuka's educational opportunities. Future initiatives are recommended to include advanced training on post-harvest management and involve broader stakeholder participation to maximize economic and social impacts.

Abstract

Hand sanitizer is an innovative instant hand-cleaning product that can be used without rinsing with water. The high alcohol content and other chemicals in hand sanitizer products can cause skin irritation, so it is necessary to innovate in making natural antiseptics using natural ingredients that function as antibacterials. The types of plants that can be applied to make hand sanitizer are lime and star fruit. This community service activity aims to increase knowledge about the benefits of lime and star fruit that grow in the surrounding environment as antibacterials, improve healthy and clean lifestyles to prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses, and improve skills in making hand sanitizers. The target audience for this community service activity is students of SMK Bina Nusa,  Slawi ,lass X, because they are new students so it is relatively easier to develop healthy and clean lifestyle habits. The methods used in this community service activity include socialization or counseling about the benefits of lime and star fruit, as well as a healthy and clean lifestyle to prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses and training in making hand sanitizers. Community service activities are going well, the students of SMK Bina Nusa Slawi have understood and understand the benefits of lime and star fruit that grow in the surrounding environment as antibacterials, are aware of a healthy and clean lifestyle to prevent the transmission of bacteria and viruses, and have skills in making hand sanitizer as a health product.

Abstract

Adolescent health is an important component of national health development; however, it still faces challenges such as low health literacy, risky behaviors, and stigma related to reproductive and mental health. This community service program utilizes an interactive web-based learning platform to improve adolescent health literacy. The activities include program socialization, teacher and student training on platform use, user assistance, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests using a participatory approach. The results show an increase in students’ knowledge, with reproductive health rising from 55% to 91.7%, mental health from 53.3% to 93.3%, and drug-related knowledge from 56.7% to 91.7%. However, several healthy lifestyle behaviors still need improvement, particularly fruit and vegetable consumption, reading nutrition labels, and physical activity. Overall, the web-based learning platform supports the improvement of adolescent health literacy and strengthens health education in the school environment.

Abstract

Activity Community service focuses on improving skills, leadership, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nipah Panjang, East Tanjung Jabung, Jambi Province. The majority of residents are professionals in the trades and fisheries, and the presence of 92 small businesses in the industry has become potentially important in expanding the local economy. Although MSMEs play a significant role in the economy's growth, many entrepreneurs face challenges due to weak skills and leadership, which affects their management and business sustainability. Through method training and mentoring, research, this program introduces the concept of digging potential and developing leadership skills. This program consists of four stages: introduction to skills, leadership training, in-depth training, and mentoring for sustainability. The focus of the main training covers ability communication, decision-making, and management team development, as well as the implementation of innovative strategies in management efforts. The results of the activity are expected to strengthen the leadership foundation of UMKM actors, enabling them to compete in increasingly complex market conditions. With improved leadership skills, expected MSME actors in Nipah Panjang can be more independent, innovative, and empowered, contributing to a more competitive local economy. Community service makes an important contribution to the development of MSMEs by improving the capacity source, particularly human capital, at the local level.

Abstract

The aim of this service is to increase the active role of women through empowerment efforts based on activities to optimize yard land to support family food security, especially in Gunungpati District, Semarang City. Food is the most essential basic need for every human individual. However, there are still several obstacles encountered in realizing food self-sufficiency, such as limited land, limited community mindset, minimal ability to innovate and the absence of synergistic collaboration between various elements. Therefore, the government continues to strive to maintain food stability and national food self-sufficiency. One effort that can be made is by collaborating across sectors, including involving women. The role of women is really needed, especially in providing education, changing thought patterns and behavioral patterns in the family and society. The object of service is in Gunungpati District, Semarang City in collaboration with the Gunungpati Women's Farmers Group and Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Semarang State University. The service methods used are: a) Socialization, b) Training, c) Facilitation, and d) Mentoring. The results of the service show that there is an increase in the participation of farmer groups whose members are women in optimizing home yard land and turning it into something with added value and economic value. These farmer groups carry out land intensification by planting various vegetables such as spinach, kale, chilies, eggplants, tomatoes.

Abstract

Mastery of tajwid (rules of Quranic recitation) is a fundamental element in reading the Qur’an correctly. However, some members of Pemuda Muhammadiyah and Nasyiatul 'Aisyiyah in Rawalo Subdistrict, Banyumas, still face difficulties in reciting the Qur’an according to proper tajwid principles. This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to enhance tajwid competence through the Shahibul Qur’an (SQ) method—an interactive approach emphasizing talaqqi (direct instruction), repetition, and immediate feedback. The program involved 30 participants and was conducted through a series of activities: pre-test, training, guided simulation, and post-test. It adopted a Participatory Action Research (PRA) approach, positioning facilitators as reflective companions. Based on the initial survey, 70% of participants had not fully understood tajwid, and 80% had never been introduced to the SQ method. After the training, significant improvements were recorded: 90% of participants gained a better understanding of tajwid, 85% found the SQ method helpful, and 75% experienced increased confidence in teaching the Qur’an. Participants also showed high motivation and interest in using SQ as an alternative learning method. The method’s effectiveness was evident through improved articulation (makhraj), phonetic characteristics (sifat huruf), and accurate recitation via repetition. The training also fostered institutional support, including the establishment of new Qur’an learning centers (TPQ) initiated by local Muhammadiyah and Nasyiatul 'Aisyiyah cadres. This program is recommended to be implemented sustainably, with structured follow-up programs, funding support, reporting mechanisms, and expanded partnerships to optimize the broader impact of the SQ method on community-based Qur’anic education.

Abstract

This community service activity was initiated in response to the limited ability of students at SMKN 3 Kota Tegal to design and analyze electronic circuits, due to inadequate access to industry-standard simulation software. The purpose of this program was to enhance students’ knowledge and skills through training in electronic circuit development using Proteus software. The implementation method consisted of preparation, training sessions, hands-on practice, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. Participants included eleventh-grade students from the Electronics Engineering Department and accompanying teachers, who engaged in activities ranging from component introduction, circuit simulation, PCB design, to practical PCB fabrication using CNC machines. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in students’ understanding and technical capabilities, evidenced by an increase in average test scores from 75 to 93, and a 133 percent rise in the number of students achieving top score ranges. Furthermore, a shift was observed in teaching methods, from conventional whiteboard instruction to digitally integrated simulations. In conclusion, the Proteus-based training effectively enhanced students’ technical competencies, bridged the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, and better prepared vocational graduates to meet the demands of a technology-driven industrial environment..

Abstract

The sustainability of early childhood teacher empowerment programs is often hindered by dependence on external facilitators. Building on the success of the first training phase, which developed educational media using local materials at TK Bina Anaprasa Melati, the second phase of this community service program was designed to ensure the dissemination and continuity of innovation through a Tiered Training and Local Instructor Mentoring model. This empowerment initiative employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, a participatory method that links reflection and action for community empowerment, by applying the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) framework. GRR gradually shifted the facilitator’s role from the external team to two selected local instructor candidates. The program involved 21 new early childhood teachers from Cluster V Loa Janan and was conducted at TK A’Sidiq. Data were collected through participatory observation, 360° feedback questionnaires (comprehensive multi-source performance evaluation), interviews, and document analysis. Results indicated a significant improvement in the pedagogical competence of instructor candidates (teaching ability scores increased from 3.2 to 4.5). Training participants expressed highly positive responses (satisfaction score of 4.7/5), and 95% successfully created 3D murals and creative fence dolls. The establishment of an internal replication mechanism, including follow-up training action plans and a sustainable learning media working group, served as a strong indicator of program sustainability. This model proved effective in building community capacity and fostering independence in educational innovation rooted in local wisdom.
