Abstract

Flies are one of the mechanical vectors of disease commonly found in market environments. Environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and lighting are suspected to influence the density of flies. This study aims to determine the relationship between temperature, humidity, and lighting with fly density at Pancur Batu Market, Pancur Batu District, This study involved a sample of 85 stalls selected through purposive sampling from five types of vendor areas (chicken, fish, meat, vegetables, and fruit). Fly density was measured using Pagoda fly paper traps, while temperature, humidity, and lighting were measured using a thermohygrometer and a luxmeter. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test in SPSS software, The results showed that most locations 69 stalls (81.2%) had high fly density. Temperature did not meet the standard at 73 stalls (85.9%), humidity met the standard at 31 stalls (36.5%), and lighting met the standard at 61 stalls (71.8%). Only humidity was significantly associated with fly density (p = 0.012), whereas temperature (p = 0.848) and lighting (p = 1.000) showed no significant relationship with fly density at Pancur Batu Market. Humidity is the most influential environmental factor affecting fly density at Pancur Batu Market. Therefore, managing humidity and improving market cleanliness should be prioritized to reduce the fly population and the risk of disease transmission.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) are considered a priority health issue. According to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), the incidence of ARI in toddlers in developing countries is 15% - 20% per year. The knowledge and education level of mothers play an important role in independently managing ARI at home, preventing the worsening of the condition. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between mothers' knowledge and education level with the management of ARI in toddlers at Bareng Public Health Center. This research design is correlational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 80 mothers who had toddlers with ARI and visited the Bareng Public Health Center in Malang City, selected using accidental sampling. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank test and logistic regression test. The results of the Spearman Rank test showed a relationship between knowledge (p-value = 0.000) and education level (p-value = 0.002) of mothers and the management of ARI in toddlers. The logistic regression test results indicated a simultaneous relationship between mothers’ knowledge and education level and the management of ARI in toddlers (significance value = 0.000). It was concluded that mothers’ knowledge and education level affect how they manage ARI in toddlers at home, as an effort to prevent the condition from worsening. Therefore, it is expected that mothers increase their knowledge about ARI in toddlers.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction is a key indicator in assessing the quality of healthcare services, particularly within the National Health Insurance (JKN) system, which aims to provide equitable access to healthcare for all Indonesian citizens. In the context of patients as consumers, understanding the determinants of satisfaction is crucial for improving service quality and maintaining public trust. This study is a literature review that aims to identify and analyze the factors influencing patient satisfaction based on findings from eleven relevant scientific articles. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive-qualitative approach. The review shows that service quality dimensions such as responsiveness, assurance, and empathy consistently have a significant influence on patient satisfaction. Additionally, factors such as perceived service equality between BPJS and non-BPJS patients, institutional image, and prior service experiences also affect satisfaction levels. These findings indicate that patient satisfaction is not only determined by technical aspects of service but also by relational aspects and perceptions of fairness. Therefore, improving service quality oriented towards patients' needs and expectations is essential to support the successful implementation of JKN sustainably.

Abstract

Environmental sanitation plays an important role in preventing environmental-based diseases such as diarrhea, which has increased significantly in Surabaya from 57.23% (2021), 76.7% (2022), to 92.9% (2023). One solution is the implementation of the program.Community Based Total Sanitation.(STBM) which consists of five pillars: Stop Defecating.Open Defecation, Washing Hands with Soap, Water Management.Household Food and Beverage,.Household Waste Security, and Security.Household Liquid Waste. This study aims to describe the implementation of STBM in Kedurus Village, Karang Pilang District, Surabaya. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach on 5,854 heads of families. The results showed that 79.3% of families already had safe toilets, 98% implemented CTPS, and 99.8% managed drinking water and food properly. However, 7.4% of families had not sorted waste, and 35.6% had not managed liquid waste properly. These findings indicate that although the implementation of STBM was quite successful, improvements are still needed in waste and liquid waste management. The active involvement of the government and community as well as the role of STBM cadres need to be increased to support the sustainability of this program.
