Abstract

The first step in the preparation stage of guidance and counseling program planning is to conduct a needs assessment. Needs assessment is an activity that aims to find the real conditions of students which will be used as the basis for planning guidance and counseling programs. One way to conduct a needs assessment is by distributing AKPD (Angket Kebutuhan Peserta Didik). The purpose of this study is to determine the needs of students in the personal, social, career and learning fields that can be used as a basis for developing guidance and counseling programs in schools so that the programs developed are in accordance with the needs of students. The research subjects used in this study were class X students at one of the State Senior High Schools in Cibinong, Bogor as many as 250 people. Data collection for this study used AKPD (Angket Kebutuhan Peserta Didik) consisting of 50 statement items describing personal, social, career, and learning areas which were entered into Google Form and then filled in by respondents. Based on the results of the study, the personal field was the aspect most chosen by respondents at 45.92% while the career field was the aspect least chosen by respondents at 11.73%. The results of this needs assessment are very helpful for counseling teachers to find out the needs of students to get guidance and counseling services, both counseling services provided individually.

Abstract

Skipping behavior is a phenomenon occurring at SMKN 4 Madiun. According to data obtained by researchers, this phenomenon is most commonly found in the XI Animation class, based on data collected during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. There are 5 students with the highest skipping rates compared to other students. This study aims to determine whether individual counseling using self-management techniques can address skipping behavior among students in the XI Animation class at SMKN 4 Madiun, who exhibit high levels of skipping behavior. The selection of subjects was based on pre-test questionnaires indicating high skipping rates among students. The pre-test results revealed 5 students with high skipping rates, identified as FY, LU, KF, BR, and GH. After implementing behavioral counseling services using self-management techniques, these 5 students showed post-test results indicating a decrease in skipping rates. Their skipping behavior fell into the low category. Based on the pre-test and post-test results, it can be concluded that there was a behavioral change after individual counseling using self-management techniques. Initially exhibiting high skipping rates, the students' behavior shifted to low skipping rates.

Abstract

Student character is a crucial component of the Indonesian education system, which should not rely solely on formal instruction but also on the instillation of local values that reflect the culture of the community. The public continues to debate issues of character development in children, with various media and discussions focusing on deviant student behavior, such as dishonesty and plagiarism. To meet the national education goals of building character and creating a dignified human culture, character education must encompass all aspects of the school environment. Literature research suggests that character education instills moral qualities such as honesty and respect by involving all aspects of education. Minangkabau traditional values, particularly Kato Nan Ampek, play a crucial role in this process by emphasizing ethical communication and interaction that adheres to social norms. Kato Nan Ampek not only serves as a behavioral guide but also helps preserve traditional Minangkabau values. Character education based on Kato Nan Ampek aims to help students develop effective communication skills while preserving their ethnic identity. Character education, when implemented consistently, has the potential to produce a generation that is intellectually developed, possesses noble character, and is ready to contribute positively to society.

Abstract

This research analyzes the effectiveness of the multicultural approach in counseling based on a systematic review of 16 articles. This study focuses on the role of counselors' cultural competence, cultural intelligence, integration of spiritual values, and cross-cultural ethics in enhancing the quality of counseling relationships. The multicultural approach is considered important in creating counseling services that are inclusive and responsive to cultural diversity. The analysis results show that counselors with strong cultural competence can be more effective in supporting client adaptation, building trust, and reducing cross-cultural conflicts. The integration of spiritual values also proves to strengthen the counseling relationship for clients from cultures that highly value spirituality. On the other hand, the cultural intelligence of counselors facilitates a deeper understanding of clients' perspectives, especially in the context of online counseling. Understanding cross-cultural ethics was also found to be essential in building effective communication between counselors and clients, which impacts the creation of a mutually respectful counseling environment. These findings affirm that a multicultural approach in counseling can promote more optimal and harmonious outcomes. This research is expected to serve as a foundation for the development of more effective and diversity-sensitive multicultural counseling practices
