Abstract

This study aims to analyze elementary school teachers' perceptions of the role of school committees in curriculum implementation as an effort to improve educational quality. The background to this research stems from the challenges of uneven distribution of educational quality in Indonesia, despite the implementation of various policies. This study employed a qualitative approach with thematic analysis based on the Braun & Clarke model. Thirty-five teachers participated in the study, with data collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using NVivo 12 software. The findings suggest that school committees play a crucial role in channeling parental aspirations, enhancing transparency and accountability in budget management, and fostering effective communication between schools and the community. However, obstacles exist, such as differing visions, weak coordination, low public literacy regarding the committee's role, and a non-participatory formation process. Nevertheless, the committees have proven to support the implementation of school programs and expand educational social networks. This study's original contribution lies in emphasizing teacher voice as a key indicator in assessing the effectiveness of participatory governance. These findings offer strategic implications for enhancing collaboration among schools, parents, and the community in improving the quality of elementary education.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of transformational leadership and self-efficacy on employee performance, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. Based on social exchange theory and Bandura's self-efficacy theory, this study aims to understand how leadership style and individual beliefs in one's own abilities can shape work outcomes in a higher education environment. A quantitative approach was employed, using a survey method with 262 Generation Z employees at a university in Yogyakarta, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the aid of AMOS software. The results indicate that transformational leadership and self-efficacy have a direct positive effect on employee performance, and organizational commitment has been statistically proven to play a significant mediating role in strengthening this relationship. Employees with high organizational commitment translate inspirational leadership and self-confidence into higher productivity and work effectiveness. These findings emphasize the importance of creating a supportive work environment to encourage optimal commitment and performance from Generation Z employees in higher education institutions. This research implies that developing transformational leadership, increasing self-efficacy, and strengthening organizational commitment can boost the performance of Generation Z employees in higher education.

Abstract

This study examines the management of research collaboration between lecturers and students within the context of implementing the Independent Learning and Independent Campus (MBKM) framework. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, collecting data through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of institutional documents. The results show that the university has implemented an institutional policy that requires collaboration between lecturers and students in every university-funded research cluster. The number of students involved is adjusted according to the amount of research funding, with measurable publication targets ranging from the Sinta journal to reputable international journals indexed in Scopus. The university also provides 36 journals and two proceedings as a means of scientific dissemination, supporting a culture of publication from an early age. In addition, students are actively involved in community service-based research relevant to their scientific fields, creating a contextual learning experience that strengthens both academic skills and social contributions. The implications of this study suggest that a collaborative approach between lecturers and students in research can enhance the quality of academic publications and enhance students' research skills. Through university support in providing journals and proceedings, as well as student involvement in community service-based research, contextual and socially beneficial learning is created.

Abstract

Ensuring high-quality educational services is a growing challenge for State Islamic Universities (UIN) in Indonesia, particularly in efforts to harmonise Islamic educational values with international standards. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of ISO 21001:2018 implementation in improving service quality at State Islamic Religious Universities. The method used is a qualitative case study, with data collection through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. Data were obtained from 25 purposively selected informants, consisting of quality assurance staff, lecturers, and students. The results show that ISO 21001:2018 significantly improves institutional accreditation through standardising quality management processes and strengthening human resources and infrastructure. The certification process increases stakeholder trust and strengthens academic quality assurance through regular evaluations and transparent audits. The integration of ISO 21001:2018 also encourages the creation of a participatory environment and continuous improvement in educational services. This study emphasises the importance of adapting international standards to local educational contexts and religious values. The ISO 21001:2018 structure can be a strategic model for quality governance in other Islamic universities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational support and organizational culture on lecturer performance, with organizational commitment as a mediating variable. The research design used a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey method. The study population included all certified permanent lecturers in economics study programs at private universities in Riau Province, with a sample of 150 lecturers selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a five-point Likert scale questionnaire that was tested for validity and reliability before use. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS. The results showed that organizational culture had a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment, and organizational commitment has a substantial impact on lecturer performance. In addition, organizational culture had an indirect effect on performance through organizational commitment. Conversely, organizational support was not proven to have a significant impact on either lecturer commitment or performance. This study found that cultural factors have a more dominant role than administrative support in driving performance. Practically, the implications of this study suggest that higher education leaders should prioritize strengthening an academic culture that fosters lecturer loyalty and engagement, thereby enabling continuous improvement in the performance of the tridharma.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of principals' managerial competencies, which include conceptual, humanistic, and technical skills, in improving the quality of education in schools. A qualitative approach, employing descriptive methods, was used to examine the problems and gain deeper insights. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Data were analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The study findings indicate that principals excel in coordinating policies, solving problems collaboratively, and developing structured plans, which have a positive impact on school operations. Humanistic skills, including communication, empathy, and teacher motivation, foster a supportive and productive environment. Principals' technical skills in curriculum development, classroom supervision, and administrative management contribute to school operational efficiency. This study suggests that principals who combine strong leadership with emotional intelligence and technical expertise create a conducive learning environment. This study contributes to educational leadership by offering practical insights for school administrators and recommends a focus on continuous professional development for principals to enhance their competencies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership and technology literacy on teacher innovation in secondary schools, and to explore the synergy between the two in encouraging learning innovation. Using a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design, quantitative data were collected through a survey of 127 teachers and school principals in Bogor City. In contrast, qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 10 informants. The SEM-PLS analysis showed that transformational leadership had a significant effect on teachers' innovation (β = 0.383; p < 0.001), followed by technology literacy (β = 0.269; p < 0.001). Qualitative data reinforce these results by revealing that moral support, experimental space, and digital skills are important combinations in realizing creative ideas. Data integration shows that teacher innovation is not born from a single factor, but rather from the synergy between a supportive leadership climate and adequate technological capacity. These findings expand the theoretical understanding of leadership in digital education and highlight the need for visionary leadership training and digital literacy to foster sustainable innovation, especially in Islamic schools.

Abstract

This study examines the institutional adaptation of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Indonesia in response to social, cultural, and educational changes. The primary focus of this research is the dynamics of change in governance, curriculum, and organisational practices in Islamic boarding schools. This research uses a qualitative design with a phenomenological-sociological approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with kiai, administrators, teachers, students, and alumni, as well as institutional archival documentation and direct observation. Data analysis was conducted using the adaptive strategy framework, institutional change theory, and Philip A. Woods' four elements of adaptation: amplification, instrumental artifacts, freedom as a capability, and resource mobilisation. The results show that amplification is rooted in reforms that affirm the core values of Islamic boarding schools, while instrumental artifacts are evident in formal education and alumni collaboration. Freedom is reflected in governance that allows for limited space for innovation, and resource mobilisation combines symbolic and material capital to support change. Islamic boarding school adaptation is selective, employing a strategy of "resisting while following," which maintains cultural authenticity while competing in modern education. This research provides implications that Islamic boarding schools are selective in maintaining cultural authenticity and competitiveness in the modern education landscape.

Abstract

Islamic Higher Education Institutions (IHEIs) in developing countries face a dual challenge of maintaining cultural identity while pursuing digital transformation. Although digital innovation has been widely studied as a driver of efficiency and competitiveness, limited empirical research explores how local wisdom functions as a strategic enabler in higher education management. This study addresses this gap by proposing a hybrid strategic management model that integrates local wisdom, digital innovation, and strategic leadership. Using a comparative case study of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Egypt, data were collected from secondary sources, including policy documents, institutional reports, and peer-reviewed literature, and analysed through thematic content analysis with cross-case coding. Findings reveal that local wisdom provides legitimacy and cultural grounding, while digital innovation strengthens adaptability and efficiency; strategic leadership integrates both dimensions into sustainable institutional transformation. Theoretically, this study contributes to value-based strategic management literature by challenging the modernity–tradition dichotomy in non-Western contexts. Practically, it offers actionable insights for policymakers and administrators to design strategies that balance technological adoption with the preservation of institutional identity.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of academic supervision, professional competence, instructional leadership, and work motivation on work productivity within the framework of the Integrative Model of Organizational Behavior. A quantitative approach, utilizing a survey method, was employed with 60 mathematics teachers. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that professional competence (β = 0.337, p = 0.007), instructional leadership (β = 0.262, p = 0.018), and work motivation (β = 0.363, p = 0.001) have a positive and significant effect on teacher productivity. In contrast, supervision has no direct effect on productivity (β = 0.104, p = 0.138), but it does significantly influence motivation (β = 0.218, p = 0.037). Motivation significantly mediated the relationship between competence and productivity (β = 0.081, p = 0.043), but did not mediate the relationship between supervision or leadership and productivity. This finding underscores the importance of enhancing teacher competence and motivation to enhance productivity. The implications of this study suggest that developing professional competence, instructional leadership, and work motivation should be a primary focus for improving teacher productivity.
