Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of death due to cancer in women after breast cancer, especially in developing countries. The high morbidity and mortality rates of cervical cancer according to WHO are due to delays in treatment. This happens because of the delay in early detection of cancer and the lack of public knowledge about the symptoms of cervical cancer. Based on the results of a survey conducted at RW 1 Batuang Taba Village, Lubuk Begalung District, there were 71% of women of childbearing age who were sexually active, with 93% of them having never done early detection of cervical cancer either by IVA or Pap Smear methods. For this reason, it is necessary to revive public awareness to carry out early detection of cervical cancer, one of which is health education. Based on an analysis of the pretest and posttest questionnaires given to 12 women, the Wilcoxon test showed that the education provided had a significant effect on increasing women's knowledge (Z = -3.126, p = 0.002). The percentage of knowledge increased significantly from 58.3% to 83.3% after education. Apart from that, from the post-test questionnaire, it was also known that as many as 91.7% of women were interested in early detection of cervical cancer. This activity succeeded in increasing the knowledge and interest of women of childbearing age regarding early detection of cervical cancer so that it is hoped that it can increase the awareness of women of childbearing age to carry out early detection of cervical cancer every 5 years in women of childbearing age.

Abstract

The government carries out various policies and strategies to support the development of horticulture in Indonesia. One of them is the development of Horticultural Villages such as the Manggis Thematic Village in accordance with the local wisdom of each region which is located in the Limau Manis sub-district, Pauh District, Padang City. Apart from producing mangosteen fruit, this thematic village has also become a tourist icon and can certainly strengthen West Sumatra's position as the largest mangosteen producing area in Indonesia. However, many of the mangosteen plants in this thematic village are old so the quantity and quality do not decline. Apart from that, there is no optimal management from cultivation to harvest. For this reason, it is necessary to socialise the technology to increase mangosteen productivity which aims to increase the knowledge of Tunas Harapan Limau Manis farmer group members in increasing mangosteen production in Kampung Tematik Manggis Limau Manis, Pauh sub-district, Padang city. The activity method used is the socialisation method to members of the Tunas Harapan farmer group. The results of the activity were an increase in the knowledge of farmer group members by 82.8% in applying mangosteen plant management technology to increase mangosteen productivity in the Manggis Limau Manis Thematic village. Apart from that, the activities carried out were also in accordance with community needs and 65% of farmer group members stated that they were very satisfied and that further activities were needed in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to introduce and analyze the application of green accounting principles in sustainable business practices, particularly through the utilization of organic waste as a strategy to support environmental sustainability and economic development. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study involved Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews with small business owners in Mekarmanik Village, Bandung, alongside field observations to gain insights into the benefits of green accounting. Findings indicate that implementing green accounting not only enhances operational efficiency through improved waste management and resource savings but also generates new economic opportunities by converting waste into value-added products, such as organic fertilizers and alternative raw materials. This approach strengthens the competitive edge and capacity of small businesses to grow sustainably while preserving environmental balance. Furthermore, the program has successfully raised awareness among small businesses about waste processing, leading to the creation of economically valuable products, improved agricultural productivity, and enhanced public health and well-being, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, business owners recognized that this initiative supports government efforts in poverty alleviation, hunger reduction, and the production of natural, healthy products. Recommendations from this study include ongoing monitoring by community engagement teams to ensure consistency in waste recycling practices, provision of land for waste management for businesses demonstrating success in waste processing, expansion of the program to sectors beyond agriculture, and encouragement for local governments to activate Women Farmers’ Groups (KWT) as centers for enterprise development and organic waste processing.

Abstract

The Society 5.0 era brings significant changes through technological innovations that transform work patterns and create new challenges in securing employment. Students are required to master both hard and soft skills to remain competitive in the workforce. A tracer study conducted by Andalas University revealed that nearly one-third of the 2023 graduates had not yet secured employment, raising concerns about their readiness to face this era. Therefore, the aim of this initiative was to enhance the preparedness of Andalas University students by increasing their knowledge of how to address challenges and career opportunities in the Society 5.0 era. The method used in this activity involved educational lectures and discussions conducted online via Zoom on May 31, 2024, attended by 103 students from Andalas University. Abstract

Herbal medicine is an alternative treatment made from natural materials such as plants, animals, or minerals and is often used by the community in addition to modern medicine. The use of traditional medicine in Indonesia is still believed by some people to treat various diseases. Herbal medicine has become an important part of traditional medicine in various parts of the world. Abstract

Teachers must possess and apply a new set of skills and competencies in the 21st century that are emphasised by the transformative demands of modern education. This aims to prepare students for the various challenges of life in the future. Teacher competence in Indonesia is recognised as a key driver for improving the quality of education however, there are challenges in ensuring that all teachers have the necessary competencies. This is also required by history teachers, where history is indispensable for students as a foundation for acting in the present and future. To achieve this, teachers need to have competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, digital literacy, and the use of technology. This study aims to improve the competence of Mojokerto City and District History MGMP teachers in the field of local history material and making infographic learning media. This research had four stages: problem identification, solution formulation/planning, socialisation, and evaluation. The findings of this study indicate an increase in competence after the implementation of service activities. The data showed a striking increase in the pre-test and post-test results, specifically by 9.49. This finding shows that the teachers can effectively understand local history and develop digital-based learning resources. This improvement suggests that the skills and expertise of educators can be effectively enhanced through socialisation. This article concludes that a collaborative digital learning environment has a positive impact on teachers' professional development. In addition, the results show that ongoing collaboration and support among educators can result in continuous growth in terms of knowledge and skills. This highlights the importance of creating opportunities for teachers to engage in collaborative learning experiences.
