Abstract

Amidst the challenges of globalization and rapid social change, this comparative understanding provides a holistic insight into integrating universal values and cultural and religious characteristics in character education. The high moral and ethical crisis that is increasingly evident in various societies, this comparative study certainly supports the formation of a generation with noble character and responsibility in an increasingly complex global context. The comparison of character education approaches from an Islamic and Western perspective aims to explore and analyze how these two perspectives shape individual morality and ethics. The research method used is comparative analysis through literature studies covering Islamic religious texts and character education sources from Western traditions. The results of the study show that character education in Islam emphasizes the vertical relationship between individuals and Allah SWT, with an emphasis on the values of honesty, justice, and compassion as the main foundation for character building. In contrast, the Western approach is secular, prioritizing individual autonomy, pluralism, and equality, and is more responsive to social dynamics and the global context. These findings provide deep insights into the philosophical and practical differences in character education, as well as their implications for efforts to build a civilized and harmonious society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze marketing strategies in hydroponic farming businesses, focusing on the impact of price, social media, attitudes, and subjective norms on purchasing decisions, with purchase intention serving as an intervening variable. Grounded in the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), the research employs a quantitative methodology, utilizing Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) for data analysis. The study was conducted at Syifa Hidroponik, a hydroponic company located in Medan, Indonesia. A Simple Random Sampling technique was used to select 109 participants. The findings reveal that price positively influences purchase intention, suggesting that consumers are more inclined to buy when they perceive the pricing as favorable. This aligns with previous research indicating that competitive pricing can enhance purchase intentions. Social media also exerts a positive effect on purchase intention, highlighting the role of platforms like Instagram and Facebook in shaping consumer behavior. This is consistent with studies demonstrating the effectiveness of social media in promoting products and engaging customers. Attitude and subjective norms were found to positively influence purchase intention as well, indicating that personal beliefs and perceived social pressures significantly impact consumers' intentions to purchase hydroponic products. Finally, purchase intention positively affects actual purchasing decisions, confirming the mediating role of purchase intention in the relationship between the studied variables and purchasing behavior. These insights suggest that hydroponic businesses should consider competitive pricing strategies and leverage social media platforms to enhance consumer attitudes and align with societal norms, thereby boosting purchase intentions and actual sales.

Abstract

This study examines the contribution of online media to the political preferences of Generation Z (Gen-Z) in the 2024 North Sumatra Gubernatorial Election. Unlike previous generations, Gen-Z, as digital natives, exhibits patterns of political information consumption centered on visual and interactive digital platforms. Employing a qualitative methodology that incorporated questionnaires administered to 102 respondents and in-depth interviews with 25 participants, this study analyzes the formation process of Gen-Z’s political perceptions. The findings indicate that the Uses and Gratifications Theory is relevant in explaining the dominance of platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, which fulfill Gen-Z’s needs for edutainment and social interaction. Their process of political perception formation is strongly influenced by strategic Framing and political branding. Another key finding is the emergence of a hybrid participation model, where digital engagement triggers discussions in traditional social spaces. Gen-Z also demonstrates characteristics of Critical Digital Citizenship, exhibiting a critical stance toward disinformation and demanding data-driven content. This research provides theoretical contributions to the dynamics of digital political socialization and offers practical guidance for designing effective campaign strategies targeting young voters.

Abstract

The ability to think critically is very important to be raised from an early age. The changing times as evidenced by the rapid development of technology can be utilized in education. H5P-based Lumi Education is one of the interactive media that can be used. However, a clear and in-depth study is needed to prove its effectiveness, before it will be applied thoroughly by educators. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of H5P-based Lumi Education interactive media in developing students' critical thinking skills in elementary schools through a literature study approach. The results of the review of various sources of scientific literature show that the use of H5P interactive media can increase students' motivation, engagement, and critical thinking skills. Interactive features such as quizzes, drag-and-drop, and interactive videos trigger deeper thinking activities. The Lumi Education platform also supports independent and reflective learning which is an important part of developing critical thinking skills. In addition, the conformity of this media with the principles of the Curriculum shows its relevance in the current educational context. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of this media is influenced by the readiness of teachers in designing content as well as the availability of supporting infrastructure. Thus, H5P-based Lumi Education has the potential as an innovative learning media to encourage learners' critical thinking skills from an early age.

Abstract

Indonesia's economic growth is primarily driven by the development of digital technology that has transformed various aspects of life, including banking, transportation, and finance. Fintech, one of the key aspects of this development, includes various banking services such as mobile banking, internet banking, SMS banking, QR Codes, e-money, and ATMs. The purpose of this research is to determine the level of development and understanding of fintech among the public, as well as to assess the public's interest in using fintech products themselves. The research method used in this study is quantitative. The government has emphasized the importance of fintech in the Islamic world, particularly in Indonesia, due to concerns regarding investor trust, lack of knowledge about fintech, and the differences between traditional and Islamic fintech. The government allocates five points for fintech startups, where 81.75 percent of the public understands fintech and uses it without fear.

Abstract

This research analyzes the spiritual-political perspectives and contributions of Tuan Guru Batak (TGB) Syekh Ahmad Sabban Rajagukguk amidst the challenges of polarization and the politicization of religion in North Sumatra. As a Sufi scholar and intellectual figure, TGB offers a model that bridges spirituality with the realities of practical politics. Employing a qualitative method with a case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary studies. Thematic analysis was utilized to identify and elaborate on the meanings derived from the data. The findings indicate that TGB’s spirituality is neither apolitical nor escapist; rather, it serves as an ethical and practical foundation for socio-political engagement. He views politics as an instrument for da’wah (Islamic propagation) aimed at realizing the common good (kemaslahatan), not merely as an arena for power struggles. TGB’s contributions are multidimensional: intellectually, he emerges as a scholar-academic who integrates tradition with modern science; socio-politically, he acts as a moral actor and mediator who safeguards social cohesion; and in terms of leadership, he bequeaths an inclusive and transformative neo-Sufi model. By rejecting identity politics and promoting Sufistic moderation, TGB demonstrates that spirituality can be a crucial counterbalancing force in preserving diversity and strengthening the foundations of democracy. This model offers relevant inspiration for religious leadership in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the relationship between self-esteem and social support on cyberbullying behavior among students. The research participants consisted of 120 students aged 18–22 years, 55 women and 65 men selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using three instruments, namely the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale to measure the level of self-esteem, the Social Support Questionnaire to assess social support, and the Cyberbullying Behavior Scale to measure the intensity of cyberbullying behavior. The regression analysis results show that self-esteem has a significant negative effect on cyberbullying behavior (β = -0.202, t = -2.091, p = 0.039), which means that the higher an individual's self-esteem, the lower their tendency to commit cyberbullying. In contrast, social support had a significant positive effect on cyberbullying (β = 0.196, t = 2.031, p = 0.045), indicating that in some cases, certain social supports can increase involvement in cyberbullying. The simultaneous regression test shows that both variables contribute significantly to cyberbullying (F = 3.115, p = 0.048). The results of this research emphasize the importance of developing intervention programs that focus on increasing self-esteem and positive social support as preventive measures in reducing cyberbullying behavior among students.
