Abstract

This study examines the local wisdom values embodied in the Salancaran movements of Cimande Pencak Silat and their relevance to strengthening character education in schools. Salancaran movements, as one of the basic sequences in the Cimande style, function not only as self-defense techniques but also contain philosophical messages reflecting Sundanese cultural values such as patience, perseverance, self-control, vigilance, and respect. Using a qualitative approach utilizing ethnographic and ethnopedagogical methods, this study explores the cultural meanings inherent in Salancaran practices through field observations, interviews with Cimande practitioners, and document analysis. The results indicate that the values within the Salancaran movements are strongly linked to the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, thus providing potential as a source for contextual character learning within the Independent Curriculum. The integration of these local cultural values can enrich culture-based educational strategies while strengthening student identity amidst the challenges of globalization. This research provides theoretical contributions to the development of ethnopedagogical studies and practical benefits for education through a conceptual model for utilizing local wisdom as a source for character learning.

Abstract

Public speaking is a crucial skill for students, especially prospective teachers, who serve as primary communicators in the learning process. However, numerous studies have shown that prospective teachers still face a variety of challenges in public communication, particularly in digital-based academic presentations, including linguistic, psychological, technical, material mastery, body language, environmental, and visual aid use. Therefore, this study aims to describe students' speaking strategies in academic presentations from a pragmatic perspective. This study uses a qualitative approach with observation and interviews with students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Mataram. Data in the form of students' oral utterances during academic presentations were analyzed using speech act theory to identify the types and pragmatic functions of the speaking strategies used. The results of the study indicate that students utilize various speaking strategies through assertive, directive, expressive, and commissive speech acts. Assertive speech acts are used to convey academic material, directive speech acts function to direct the audience's attention, while expressive and commissive speech acts are used to maintain politeness, manage awkwardness, and respond to academic pressure during presentations. These findings indicate that students' speaking strategies serve as pragmatic mechanisms in managing obstacles to public communication, while also being an important provision in developing the professional competence of prospective teacher students in the digital era.

Abstract

Learning is a process in which a person's environment is intentionally arranged to enable individuals to engage in certain behaviors under specific conditions or to generate responses to specific situations. One learning model widely used to involve active student involvement is Problem Based Learning (PBL). Based on the results of data collection on learning patterns for sociology subjects at SMAN 1 Gurah, it was found that in learning practices there are still several problems, especially in terms of assessment. Therefore, this study was conducted to describe the process of preparing assessments by grade XI teachers in implementing the Problem Based Learning model at SMAN 1 Gurah and identify obstacles that arise along with strategies used to overcome them. By using observation, interview and documentation methods. The resulting data shows that the application of assessments in the PBL model at SMAN 1 Gurah has led to meaningful learning practices as stated by Ausubel, although it still requires strengthening in pedagogical communication and development of assessment literacy so that assessments can function optimally as a means of supporting learning and supporting the Pancasila student profile.

Abstract

National character plays a vital role in the educational process as it serves as the foundation for shaping students' attitudes, values, and behaviors, which must be implemented through school activities, including Hizbul Wathan scouting. This study aims to describe the implementation of strategic management within the Hizbul Wathan (HW) scouting program to strengthen the national character of elementary school students at SD Muhammadiyah Komplek Kolombo. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, with research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the interactive model—comprising data reduction, data display, and verification of findings—utilizing triangulation techniques and ATLAS.ti software to ensure data validity. The results indicate that the management of the HW program, based on POAC functions (planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling), is executed structurally through the formulation of annual programs, the formation of activity groups, the implementation of routine training integrated into intracurricular activities, and program evaluation via activity monitoring and student progress reporting. The implementation of these strategies contributes to the development of discipline, responsibility, cooperation, leadership, and a sense of patriotism among students. Consequently, the Hizbul Wathan scouting program serves as a strategic medium for strengthening national character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) has brought significant changes to the world of education and has influenced the character development of students. The use of digital technology provides opportunities to improve the quality of learning, but also raises various problems, such as declining ethics, low social empathy, plagiarism, and misuse of digital media. This shows that the ability to use technology technically is not necessarily accompanied by wise and characterful attitudes. Therefore, digital literacy is a crucial aspect in addressing the impact of technological developments on students' character. This study aims to examine the role of digital literacy in shaping and strengthening students' character in the digital era. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining relevant scientific articles, books, and policy documents published in the period 2015–2025. Data were obtained from Google Scholar, Scopus, and ResearchGate, then analyzed qualitatively through thematic selection and synthesis. The results of the study indicate that digital literacy encompasses cognitive, social, and ethical aspects that play an important role in the development of students' character, such as honesty, responsibility, independence, and digital ethics. Furthermore, information technology has both positive and negative impacts on student character, which is heavily influenced by digital literacy levels and the role of educators and educational institutions. This study recommends integrating digital literacy into the curriculum and strengthening the role of educators so that the use of technology in education focuses not only on technological mastery but also on character development in students.

Abstract

National Education is an education based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, which is rooted in religious values, Indonesian national culture and responsiveness to the demands of changing times. To realize this ideal, the struggle of the community, the government, and the implementation of Education is needed. National education functions to develop abilities and form the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the life of the nation. The application of education based on Pancasila values is very important to improve the quality of education in Indonesia and form a better student character. Therefore, the government, educators, and non-formal educational institutions need to continue to work together and be committed to developing and implementing Pancasila values in the Indonesian education system. The world of education is expected to be a driving force to facilitate character development, so that members of the community have an awareness of the harmonious and democratic life of the nation and state while still paying attention to the joints of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) and social norms in society that have become a common agreement. The formulation of national education goals in Indonesia requires at least some foundations of national education. So it is hoped that this goal will have meaning, among these foundations are, religious foundation, scientific foundation, technological foundation, juridical foundation, sociological foundation, sociological foundation, psychological foundation, and cultural foundation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of critical thinking skills of grade XII students on biotechnology material and analyze the types of alternative learning media that can support the strengthening of these skills in order to support the sustainable development goals (SDGs) point 2 on food security. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a study literature review approach and strengthening field data through learning reflections and teacher interviews. The results of the study indicate that students' critical thinking skills are still in the low category, with the main obstacles lying in the aspects interpretation, explanation, and evaluation. The learning process is still conventional and minimal practice causes students to be less actively involved in higher-order thinking processes. Based on literature analysis and field findings, recommended learning media to develop critical thinking skills include E-modules and E-LKPD. These media are considered capable of facilitating contextual, reflective, and applicable biotechnology learning so that they are relevant to support the achievement of SDGs 2 related to sustainable food security

Abstract

contributes to cadre retention by positioning cadre education programs as the primary institutional mechanism. The study examines whether cadre retention is influenced directly and indirectly by servant leadership, with cadre education and development programs conceptualized as Political Human Resource Management (Political HRM) and positioned as a key mediating variable. The study employs a quantitative approach using a structured questionnaire survey administered to members of a cadre-based political party organization. From a total population of 2,073 registered cadres recorded in the organizational database, all were internally ensured to receive the research questionnaire, and 551 respondents voluntarily completed it (voluntary random sample). The data were subsequently analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with a hierarchical component model (HCM) two-stage approach to model multidimensional constructs. The findings indicate that servant leadership does not have a significant direct effect on cadre retention; however, it exerts a very strong influence on the quality of cadre education and development programs, which in turn have a positive and significant effect on cadre retention. These results confirm an indirect-only mediation (full mediation) pattern. The model explains a substantial proportion of variance in cadre education programs (53.2%) and cadre retention (50.7%) and demonstrates strong predictive relevance, underscoring that retention in cadre-based organizations is predominantly system-driven.This study offers a conceptual and empirical model that extends the understanding of how leadership operates in value-based political organizations by positioning institutional mechanisms as the primary pathway through which leadership influences cadre sustainability. The study contributes to the leadership, organizational retention, and HRM systems literature by introducing Political HRM as an institutional architecture that translates leadership values into long-term cadre development systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Modelling The Way strategy on Fiqh learning of prayer material on improving Deep Learning-based learning outcomes at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Mambaul Ulum. The approach used is mixed methods, which is a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Qualitatively, the study describes the learning process carried out by Fiqh teachers through exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), while quantitatively, student learning outcomes are measured through multiple-choice tests, essays, prayer practice rubrics, and affective questionnaires. The research subjects consisted of 20 eighth-grade students at MTs Mambaul Ulum in the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation, learning outcome tests, worship practice assessments, and Likert scale questionnaires. The results showed that the application of the Modelling The Way strategy had a significant effect on improving student learning outcomes in all domains. The average cognitive score was 8.00 (80%), comprehension score was 15.00 (75%), psychomotor score was 24.00 (96%), and affective score was 95%. Qualitative results show that teachers as role models succeeded in fostering students' spiritual awareness, discipline, and devotion in performing prayers. Deep Learning-based learning strengthened students' ability to understand spiritual meaning and internalize the values of worship into their daily lives. Thus, the Deep Learning-based Modelling The Way strategy proved to be effective in improving Fiqh learning outcomes, both cognitively, affectively, and psychomotorically, as well as being able to shape the religious and spiritual character of students in madrasahs.
