Abstract

Micro and small businesses in Pakukerto Village, Pasuruan Regency, have great economic potential through various processed food products, herbal drinks, and local handicrafts. However, this potential has not been fully realized due to a lack of understanding of trademark law and limited ability to use digital platforms. This community service activity was organized to improve the legal knowledge and marketing skills of business actors through assistance with trademark registration and training in the use of social media as a professional promotional tool. The activity was carried out using the Asset-Based Community Development Method (ABCD), which utilizes human resources as business actors (skills in producing various local products) and social networks as capital to strengthen a broader marketing capacity. The implementation of activities included identifying the needs of business actors, delivering legal material on the importance of brand protection, training on creating business social media accounts, and providing technical assistance for the brand registration process through the system provided by the Directorate General of Intellectual Property. The results of the activity showed that 80% of participants understood the function of a brand as a business identity and long-term legal protection. A total of 18 of the 30 participants who attended the training expressed their readiness to apply for trademark registration and to start implementing visual content-based marketing strategies. Overall, this activity succeeded in developing the capacity of business actors in Pakukerto Village by encouraging a shift in business behavior toward greater legal awareness and responsiveness to developments in digital marketing.

Abstract

The Kereng Bangkirai sub-district, located in the Sebangau Peatland Ecotourism area, has the potential to utilize endemic Dayak plants as natural dyes for the development of dotted batik products. However, its use by the community remains very limited due to a lack of knowledge, innovation, and skills in the production process. The objective of this community service program is to empower the community through training in the production of natural-dye batik, from the introduction of endemic plants and batik techniques to dye extraction from sawang and purun leaves, the mordanting process, and batik dyeing and finishing. The method used is a participatory action research (PAR) approach, which actively involves participants in every stage. The program evaluation instrument uses pre- and post-tests to measure increases in participants' knowledge and skills. The training provided to the Kereng Bangkirai community group received positive responses and support from the village administration. The conclusion of this activity shows an increase in participants' knowledge, skills, and creativity in utilizing natural dyes as an alternative innovation for creative economic products with cultural value that enhance the appeal of peatland ecotourism.

Abstract

Stunting remains a public health problem in Kedung Pengawas Village, Bekasi Regency, as indicated by the continued presence of stunting cases despite a regional decline in prevalence. This community service program aimed to improve maternal knowledge and skills and to support adequate nutritional intake among toddlers through innovative training in oxytocin massage and the Marmet technique, and the provision of soy milk–based probiotic protein. The methods included health education sessions, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and monitoring and evaluation of maternal knowledge and child growth. The program was conducted over a 2-month period and involved 20 participants, including breastfeeding mothers, mothers with toddlers, and community health cadres. A one-group pretest–posttest design, without a control group, was used for evaluation. Descriptive statistical analysis showed an increase in the mean maternal knowledge scores from the pretest to the posttest following counseling, training in oxytocin massage and the Marmet technique, and nutrition education. In addition, consumption of probiotic soy milk three times per week for one month was associated with positive growth-related trends, as children tended to show increases in body weight and height after the intervention period compared with baseline measurements. However, the magnitude of change varied among individuals. Training in oxytocin massage and the Marmet technique also enhanced mothers' skills in stimulating breast milk production and independently addressing breastfeeding challenges. Overall, this program provided tangible benefits to the community in stunting prevention through education, capacity building, and practical nutritional support that can be easily applied in daily life.

Abstract

The problem is that people still save in savings-and-loan cooperatives through arisan, which often ends in fraud. This is due to a lack of public knowledge and understanding of the types of Sharia financial products, and a lack of awareness of how to check financial portfolios that hold OJK permits, which contributes to the lack of public interest in using Sharia financial products. The community still has limited information about Sharia financial products. Therefore, to increase understanding and increase the use of sharia financial portfolios for the community in Kadungora village, it is necessary to assist the selection of sharia financial portfolios for PKK mothers who represent the Kadungora community. The purpose of this study is to provide the community, through PKK mothers, with knowledge about Sharia financial portfolio literacy and the benefits of Sharia financial portfolios in Kadungora Village. Mentoring activities using an innovative literacy approach are among the factors that support the Partner's goal, namely, increasing knowledge in Kadungora Village and increasing community interest in using sharia financial portfolios, thereby positively impacting the development of the sharia economy. The method in mentoring PKK mothers is by contacting and establishing cooperation with the village head in Kadungora village, then conducting an approach with a survey to Kadungora village, then gathering PKK mothers and providing an overview of mentoring activities, as well as providing literacy mentoring to PKK mothers about various types of sharia financial portfolios and the benefits, and how to calculate the profit of a sharia financial portfolio.

Abstract

Urban farming has emerged as one of the solutions to strengthen food security, improve environmental quality, and provide economic benefits in urban areas. One commonly applied method is the raised bed system, which optimizes the use of limited land and enhances the efficiency of soil media management. However, farmer groups often face challenges in managing organic waste and optimizing growing media in restricted spaces. This community service program was implemented in collaboration with the Minasari Farmers Group located on Jemursari XIX Street, Jemur Wonosari Sub-district, Wonocolo District, Surabaya, involving 23 members. The stages of activities included site survey and green space landscape design, construction of raised beds, application of Hugelkultur techniques using organic waste (banana trunks, twigs, and other biomass materials), delivery of crop cultivation training, and program evaluation. The results showed that the application of Hugelkultur-based raised beds improved the quality of planting media, expanded opportunities for vegetable and herbal crop cultivation, and supported circular economy principles (3R: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Through this program, the Minasari Farmers Group is expected to become a model for productive, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable urban farming in Surabaya.

Abstract

Lemon (Citrus limon L.) is a high-value horticultural commodity with growing demand, yet national production cannot meet domestic demand. Andrau Nursery, a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) in Palangka Raya, has the potential to develop lemon-based products but faces challenges such as unstable sales of fresh fruit, spoilage due to the short shelf life, and suboptimal utilization of low-grade lemons. The proposed solution is to apply dehydrator technology to create value-added products such as dried lemon slices, powder, and herbal tea, which have a longer shelf life and a broader market. Community service activities were conducted through surveys, training, and mentoring on using the dehydrator. The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding and skills, with 90% becoming familiar with the dehydrator and 100% stating the technology was more efficient than traditional methods. The processed products were more hygienic, higher in quality, and helped reduce lemon waste. Thus, the application of the dehydrator at Andrau Nursery MSME reduces harvest waste, expands product diversification, and strengthens the competitiveness of the local horticulture-based business.

Abstract

Tumbang Nusa Village, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan, has natural resource potential in the form of purun (Lepironia articulata), which grows abundantly in peatlands, swamps, and along riverbanks. Purun has long been utilized by the local community as raw material for handicrafts such as mats, bags, wallets, and eco-friendly straws. However, the purun-flattening process, which is still carried out manually, creates several challenges, including lengthy production times, inconsistent fiber quality, and heavy physical burdens on artisans. This community service activity aimed to provide training on the use of purun-flattening technology for the "Nusa Sehati" Joint Business Group to improve efficiency, quality, and production capacity. The implementation method included a pre-test, socialization, training, practical tool use, and a post-test to measure the activity's effectiveness. A total of 20 participants were involved, the majority of whom were women of productive age. The results indicated significant improvements in ease of use, time efficiency, product quality, and fatigue reduction. In the pre-test, only 40% of participants found manual flattening easy; after using the tool, this increased to 95% in the post-test. All participants (100%) stated that the tool saved production time and reduced fatigue, while 90% rated the fiber quality as very good. Regarding acceptance, 85% of participants stated they would definitely continue using the tool. Thus, training in the application of purun-flattening technology proved effective in enhancing artisans' skills, productivity, and competitiveness. This activity also contributes to strengthening the local economy by leveraging regional potential in a sustainable, environmentally friendly manner.
