Abstract

This community service activity aims to transfer knowledge on oyster mushroom entrepreneurship, integrated with Sharia Economic Principles and Marketing Strategy 5.0, to the cadres of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah Pahandut Branch, Palangka Raya City, an autonomous Muhammadiyah organization consisting of young women, as initial capital for modern and ethical business ideas. The activity was carried out through intensive one-day training using the Participatory Action Research model, which focused on the simultaneous integration of three domains of knowledge: cultivation production techniques, Sharia business ethics, and digital marketing. The target of the activity was to build an entrepreneurial mindset in a community with no prior business background. The results of competency measurements, comparing pre-test and post-test, showed an average increase of 66.3%, with the highest increase in the Marketing Strategy 5.0 domain (90.1%). This increase confirms the effectiveness of the knowledge integration model in a short time. This service concludes that the integrated training model that presents holistic, ethical business ideas (technically, ethically, and digitally ready) has achieved the goals of education and entrepreneurial empowerment very well, providing a sustainable business blueprint for the young women's community.

Abstract

The Senior High School English MGMP of East Java Province faces several urgent issues, including the large number of terminologies and processes that must be internalized and implemented within the Merdeka Curriculum and its supporting components. In addition, the Senior High School English MGMP of East Java Province should specifically focus on developing instructional modules and teaching materials for Senior High School English subjects in the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly for Phase F (General and Advanced). The proposed solution to address these challenges is to provide training on breaking down the Learning Outcomes, Learning Objectives, and Learning Objective Pathways for Phase F General and Phase F Advanced, as well as on developing Phase F Instructional Modules and English teaching materials. This training is conducted through practical workshops. This method is chosen because it aligns with participant-centered principles, is non-directive, and enables teachers to work collaboratively, actively, and productively. The community service activities with the East Java Senior High School English MGMP have been carried out through several stages: coordination meetings with MGMP board members, preparation of training modules, delivery of theoretical materials, preparation of Phase F instructional module materials, offline theoretical sessions, practical workshops on developing teaching materials and instructional modules for both General and Advanced Phase F, and follow-up activities. All activities were successfully implemented, and nearly all expected outputs were achieved.

Abstract

In Indonesia, waste exceeds landfill capacity, and the volume increases significantly each year. One successful effort to manage organic waste is the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF). This environmentally friendly entrepreneurial activity addresses organic waste management and increases community income. Maggots, the larvae of BSF, can be utilized and sold as fresh maggots, dried maggots, and derivative products. The involvement of students in the Fisheries Department, Agriculture Faculty, University of Palangka Raya, in entrepreneurial activities remains limited due to several obstacles, including a lack of confidence, a lack of innovative and creative ideas, and the belief that substantial capital is required. However, maggot entrepreneurship doesn't require much capital because maggot food can be made from organic materials or household waste. Providing training in maggot cultivation and the production of derivative products to students is a breakthrough that enhances their knowledge and skills and helps them explore their entrepreneurial potential. The maggots and the derivative products they produce will have a market value and thus become a source of income. The training evaluation results showed an increase in students' knowledge and skills in maggot cultivation and the production of derivative products, as well as interest in maggot entrepreneurship. Maggot cultivation not only provides various benefits but also demonstrates their commitment to addressing organic waste issues. Through training and mentoring, students successfully cultivated maggots and produced maggot products, including fresh, dried, and pupae maggots, as well as maggot fertilizer (Frass), and marketed them.

Abstract

This community service program focused on improving the quality of livestock feed by teaching people how to make Urea Molasses Multi-Nutrient Blocks (UMMB). The work took place in Mekar Sari Village, Binuang District, Tapin Regency, and involved the local community. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which means farmers were involved in planning, doing, and reviewing the project. They learned about making balanced feed, the advantages of using UMMB, and practiced making it with locally available materials. The participants were very excited and actively participated in both talking and activities. The UMMB they made looked good; it was dark brown, smelled sweet like molasses, was hard and uniform in texture, and didn't have any mold. This program helped farmers learn to make better feed, enabling them to cope with a lack of grass during dry seasons, save money on feed, and keep their animals healthier and more productive.

Abstract

Older people often experience physical, social, and emotional changes that affect their psychological well-being. These changes can lead to feelings of loneliness, alienation, and a decreased ability to find meaning in life. This condition indicates the need for interventions that help older adults enhance self-acceptance, gratitude, and inner peace in later life. This program aims to strengthen their sense of meaning in life through spirituality-based psychoeducation conducted in an elderly pesantren setting. The program was implemented in three stages: initial assessment, intervention, and evaluation involving twenty-seven participants at Pesantren Lansia Ahsanu Amala. The initial assessment included observations, group discussions, and questionnaire administration to identify emotional needs and baseline levels of meaning in life. The intervention consisted of two psychoeducation sessions focusing on reflection on past experiences and on understanding life meaning from a spiritual perspective, combined with reflective exercises and interactive discussions. The evaluation was carried out by comparing pre-test and post-test results and by observing participant engagement throughout the activities. The findings showed an increase in participants' understanding of life meaning, indicated by their improved ability to reflect on past experiences more positively, to understand meaning in life from an Islamic perspective, and to develop self-acceptance. The program also strengthened social connections and fostered a more stable emotional atmosphere among participants.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower the local potential of salak fruit in Wonokerto Village, Turi Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, by developing salak vinegar as a value-added product. The community has traditionally sold salak in its fresh form, which provides low economic value and is vulnerable to price drops during peak harvest seasons. Limited knowledge of fermentation techniques, product quality standards, business management, and marketing has been a major obstacle to the development of processed salak products. The program was carried out from September to December 2023 through several stages, including site surveys, training on salak vinegar production, hands-on fermentation practice, product evaluation, and assistance in obtaining household food industry (PIRT) certification. The training focused on two-stage fermentation using yeast and Acetobacter aceti, sterilization procedures, proper packaging, and digital marketing strategies. The results showed that participants were able to produce high-quality salak vinegar. Laboratory tests indicated acetic acid levels of 1.05–1.16% and pH values of 3.14–3.19, which fall within the acceptable range for edible vinegar. Organoleptic testing demonstrated positive acceptance, particularly in aroma and color. Furthermore, assistance in PIRT licensing and marketing enhancement increased the product's readiness to enter the market. Overall, the program successfully improved community skills and knowledge in product diversification and opened new economic opportunities based on local resources. This initiative is expected to serve as a replicable model of empowerment for other salak-producing regions.

Abstract

Household organic waste is a major component of waste generation in densely populated residential areas, especially in urban areas with limited land and time. In RT 1 RW 7, Sumbersari Village, waste management is not optimally carried out, as the waste transportation system still relies on the door-to-door method, with no processing at the household level. This community service program aims to increase community awareness and involvement, especially among PKK mothers, in managing organic waste through bioconversion technology using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots. The activity was carried out through a participatory approach in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) that was aligned with the PKK's regular meeting agenda. Residents were educated on how to use maggots, starting with sorting organic and non-organic waste. PKK mothers were also shown the decomposition process using BSF maggots firsthand, thereby convincing them of the program's benefits. Regular monitoring and evaluation were conducted to assess the program's effectiveness and changes in community behavior in sorting and processing waste. Monitoring results showed that most residents were quite enthusiastic about implementing the organic waste conversion program with maggots.

Abstract

Taman Rekreasi Sengkaling (TRS) is a business unit owned and managed by Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). It provides entertainment and educational (eduwisata) facilities for visitors. Students' use of the props in the Energy Conservation Station TRS UMM prompted the need for repair and maintenance. Therefore, some of the materials that need props cannot be practiced. Moreover, knowledge on energy has been developed that TRS UMM requires another prop for the eduwisata program in Energy Post. Therefore, the problem faced by TRS UMM, especially in Energy Post, is the need for additional props to serve as facilities for the eduwisata program for visitors. The solution offered to this problem is to provide this facility with props for the Energy Conservation Station TRS UMM. The props were designed to develop energy knowledge, especially for students' learning, as they aim to help students apply and practice the concepts they learned at school. The design of the props began with building the design and defining the working principle. It was tested before it was applied at Energy Post TRS UMM.

Abstract

This community service activity focuses on assisting the preparation of simple financial reports based on SAK-EMKM for the Agroindustry SME "H. Pepen" Tofu in Bandung Regency. Although the enterprise has been operating since 1990 with relatively stable production capacity, the main challenge for the partner is the lack of a structured financial recording system in accordance with accounting standards. All business transactions are still recorded manually and unsystematically, which complicates business analysis, accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations, and loan applications. The objectives of this activity are (1) to enhance financial literacy among SME actors and (2) to assist in preparing simple financial reports in compliance with SAK-EMKM. The method employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR), consisting of observation, accounting workshops, and technical assistance. The results indicate that the mentoring process successfully improved the partner's understanding of the importance of financial reporting, as evidenced by SAK-EMKM. The partner has now developed a simple financial report format (utilizing manual cash books and basic Excel templates) that can be applied independently. The service team's involvement also serves as a sustainable model of empowerment that other SMEs can replicate.
