Abstract

Prevention of the spread of Covid-19 is an essential effort when there are still highly favorable rates & deaths. The provision of education to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is always carried out with community awareness-based programs to maintain immunity. Community service by utilizing kalakai as a natural antioxidant becomes one of the alternatives to support the government. Kalakai (Stenochlaena palustris (Burm. F) Bedd.)) is a nail plant that is one of the plants with antioxidants typical of Kalimantan whose history is used as traditional medicine. This potential can be utilized and applied through the empowerment of the community of Palam Village, Cempaka Subdistrict, where many Kalakai plants grow wild. The problems found include lack of information and lack of skills of citizens in food processing based on Kalakai plants, especially in terms of food processing with high antioxidants in the form of counseling to the PKK mothers group Palam Cempaka-Banjarbaru Village. The activity method is the extension of educational provision, namely the theory of antioxidants and the potential of Kalakai, and the direct demonstration/practice of making syrups, teas, and kalakai candy. Residents expect to develop processed food products into UMKM, especially of Palam village, as a business opportunity to improve people's living standards.

Abstract

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb. Dear reader, now PengabdianMu: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat re-published on Volume 6 Issue 6 October 2021. This edition marks a change in publication frequency from four times to six times a year. The publication of PengabdianMu: Jurnal Ilmiah Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat certainly participates in disseminating the results of community services in science and technology development conducted by lecturers and researchers especially from UM Palangkaraya and other universities. This edition contains 16 articles consisting of Education, Social and Political, Agriculture, and Health Science topics. Editorial boards are fully aware that there is still room for improvement in this edition, hence with all humility willing to accept constructive suggestions and feedback for improvements to the publication for the next editions. The editorial board would like to thank the University, all editors and reviewers, and contributors of the scientific articles who have provided the repertoire in this issue. Abstract

Islamic boarding schools for students are Islamic educational institutions with a boarding system in which students from Islamic boarding schools have Islamic religious education and general knowledge from universities. The Islamic Student Boarding School of the Ma'arif NU Islamic Institute in Metro City is located in Metro, Lampung. So far, there are approximately 70 students at the Ma'arif NU student boarding school in Metro City. There are prospects for advancement in entrepreneurial skills centered on this opportunity. To improve students in general education and Islamic scholarship, but with other skills currently needed, one of which is entrepreneurship. Making calligraphy art with tremendous economic potential is one of the skills taught in Islamic boarding schools. The goals of this program include introducing entrepreneurship to student students, learning how to use Prada techniques to create calligraphy art, and applying calligraphy art-making as an entrepreneur. The ABCD method was used for the assistance given to Metro City Ma'arif NU Islamic boarding school students. In this strategy, service prioritizes using capacity and assets that the group already has. In this approach, the capacity or potential is the direct assistance of society in achieving progress. The assistance results showed that the students managed to develop a calligraphy company that was run at an entire profit to fund the needs of the Islamic boarding school students. Students are not solely dependent on parental submissions based on these benefits. The outcomes of the calligraphy efforts carried out will fulfill the needs of entrepreneurial learners.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on the economic sector. Many people are trying to survive because of the effects of this pandemic. This service activity aims to empower SMEs and the Dasawisma Group in Bangunjiwo Village, Bantul Regency, to be more developed and survive or recover from the impact of the pandemic. The methods used are training and mentoring. This service activity went well thanks to the cooperation of all partners. Efforts to increase the marketing capacity of partners are felt to have grown with this dedication. Partners have become aware that in a digital era like this, their business must be more up to date with the times and adaptive to existing problems. Dasa Wisma Group partners also experienced an increase in capacity, especially in processing food into frozen food. The hope is that partners can continue developing and adapting when problems like this pandemic arise.

Abstract

Compost has some advantages, improving soil physical properties, chemical properties, and biological properties. It happens because its characteristics contain nutrients in varying types and amounts depending on the original material, provide nutrients slowly (slow release) and in limited quantities, and have the main function of improving soil fertility and health. The pile of organic waste from the Koto Baru market directly impacts the environment to their community. This Community Service Program aims to increase the knowledge and skills of target communities about processing vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market into the solid and liquid-friendly environment of organic fertilizers. The target people of this activity were PKK Jorong Subarang Nagari Koto Baru women in particular and people who wrote Jorong Subarang Nagari Koto Baru. The methods used in this service were socialization of the processing of vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market into the solid and liquid-solid and liquid friendly environment of organic fertilizers, distribution of practical manuals for assembling tools for making solid and liquid organic fertilizer from vegetable waste, distributing initial questionnaires to online socialization. This activity had positive impacts on these PKK women, including providing knowledge of PKK women about the use of organic vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market to become a POP friendly environment and POC, the dissemination of information on the use of vegetable waste from the Koto Baru market became a solid and liquid friendly environmental of organic fertilizer in Jorong Subarang Nagari Koto Baru, Tanah Datar Regency.

Abstract

During this pandemic, the spreading of hoaxes related to COVID-19 with provocative titles is out of control. Youth organizations as a forum for youth to develop themselves, grow awareness and social responsibility from, for, and by youths were expected to overcome social problems faced by taking an active role in increasing public awareness and vigilance, primarily related to the COVID-19 hoax. Therefore, through this empowerment activity, Desa Bunga-Bunga youth organizations as active internet consumers were expected to increase their ability to think critically in filtering and interpreting information received from the internet and educate others to minimize the existence of hoax-related to COVID-19 in the community. The method of this activity was lecture and discussion of effective communication, hoax, and COVID-19. The participants’ knowledge was assessed by pre-test and post-test. The participants’ understanding of hoax and COVID-19 increased while the communication topic decreased. In conclusion, the participants could sort out hoaxes related to COVID-19.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to teach students about understanding and the importance of choosing halālan tayyiban snack foods to increase child immunity. This dedication activity was held at this service activity held at Muhammadiyah Elementary School 01 Wuled, Tirto, Pekalongan. Before the socialization of respondents filled the pretest first, and after the socialization, served the post-test when data was done by testing the t-test paired sample. Students' knowledge about the importance of choosing food snacks for the thesis increases immunity through this program.

Abstract

The village of Dutohe Barat is classified as an emergency sanitation area due to household waste produced by human activities (bathing, washing, and cooking). This activity aims to solve the problem by designing and making the communal wastewater treatment that has been standardized. The sample is liquid waste collected from 5 houses in section 4. Initial data on wastewater quality were obtained were BOD, which initially was 265 mg/l, COD was 290 mg/l, and oil and fat were 27 mg/l. The activity method is carried out in 3 stages (observation, socialization, and evaluation). After going through treatment with this communal wastewater treatment, the results of the reduction in waste pollutants were BOD decreased to 98 mg/l, COD decreased to 90 mg/l, and oil and fat decreased to 10 mg/l. In addition, the output from the wastewater treatment processing is used by farmers to irrigate crops.

Abstract

The Covid 19 virus outbreak has affected all aspects of life without exception. The economic crisis is in sight and requires the cooperation of all parties, including women. There will be no sustainable empowerment without involving women. In line with this, the Bandung City Aisyiyah Organization appears as the vanguard to strengthen the women's economy. The approach used in this empowerment is Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). The focus of empowerment is focused on optimizing the potential for economic empowerment, especially for women in the city of Bandung. Training and assistance, starting from the importance of understanding the function of digital media for business development, creating content for networking and promotion, to the practice of using digital media optimally. The empowerment results show a significant increase in cognition in Aisyiyah women in Bandung. Empowerment like this should be made sustainable.

Abstract

The outbreak of the Covid-19 virus impacted changing learning activities from face-to-face to online. This transition raises many obstacles for teachers, especially the use of technology. SDN 2 Margoyoso teachers have difficulty making video explanations of subject matter. The teacher only sends text messages in the form of instructions for doing assignments without sending learning videos. This makes students bored and unable to understand the lesson's content well. This service activity aims to provide knowledge to SDN 2 Margoyoso teachers about the use of the XRecorder application for online learning media. This service activity was conducted at SDN 2 Margoyoso with one school principal and 13 teachers as participants. The action was held on February 15 and 18, 2021. The method used in this service was to provide interactive training and training. Furthermore, there is a two-way interaction in the training process to provide opportunities for teachers at SDN 2 Margoyoso as training participants to contribute their ideas, opinions, thoughts, and experiences. The training is carried out in several stages, including planning, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation. Training service activities were able to improve teacher skills in online learning innovation. This was manifested by teachers at SDN 2 Margoyoso being able to simulate and practice using the XRecorder application in online learning videos.
