Abstract

The occurrence of acts of sexual harassment in early childhood, among others, is due to the lack of sexual education and readiness of schools and parents in conveying sexual education to early childhood. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of singing methods and demonstration methods on understanding sexual education in early childhood. The design of this study used an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design by analyzing quantitative data on the effectiveness of the singing method and the demonstration method on understanding sexual education in early childhood. The research samples were Miftahul Jannah Islamic Kindergarten students as the experimental class and Bunga Harapan Kindergarten as the control class. Data collection used sexual education observation sheets and evaluated using N-gain and Independent T-Test. The findings found that experimental class understanding of early childhood sexual education was more successful than control class. Students' understanding of sex education increased by an average of 0.83 for the high category, while the control class increased by an average of 0.64 with the moderate category. It showed that a singing and demonstration methods can improve early childhood understanding of sexual education

Abstract

The social skills of children already exist since they are born. Thus, they should obtain stimulation at their early age so they can maximally develop. It is because social skills are important for every individual to create interaction with their environments. This research aims to test the effectiveness of the telling method assisted with flannel apron toward the early childhood children's social skills. This research applied the experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection techniques were observation sheets and social skills. The sampling technique was purposive sampling because the researchers took the sample with certain considerations from a population. The data analyses were Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon hypothetic tests. The tests showed that the method assisted with a flannel apron could effectively improve the learners' learning outcomes. The hypothetic tests showed that the applied method significantly influenced the social skill improvement of children aged 5-6 years old with a p lesser than 0.05. It was obtained from the mean score of the children's social skills after being treated. They got the category of excellently appropriately developed (BSB). The hypothetic test also showed a p-value lesser than 0.05. It proved the effectiveness of the telling method assisted with a flannel apron to improve social skills of the early childhood.

Abstract

The growth and development of early childhood should be stimulated by strengthening the religious character value and the language skill; therefore, children have noble behavior. This research aimed to develop the religious behavior attitude and the language skill of early childhood. The research object was hand-puppet-assisted media to strengthen the religious character value and the language skill. The population in this research were 30 children aged 5-6 years of the group B at TK ABA 04 Penaruban of the experiment class, and 30 children of the group B at TK ABA 03 Bumiayu of the control class. The data collection techniques used observation sheets, interviews, and documentation. The analysis used was the t-test using SPSS for windows version 16.00. The data analysis used the hand-puppet-assisted storytelling method. The hypothesis test results showed that the average pretest value of the experiment class was 18.21, and the average posttest was 21.00, so that it increased by 2.79. It was also found that the tcount> ttable at a significant level of 5% (15.649 > 2.037) and with a p-value of < 0.05, which means that it can be concluded that there was a significant increase in the score of student learning outcomes of the experiment group. Thus, it can be concluded that the strengthening of the religious character valueand the language skill of children aged 5-6 years at TK ABA 04 Penaruban using the hand-puppet-assisted storytelling method was more effective than using conventional media.

Abstract

The wellbeing of formal early childhood education teachers in Indonesia has been improving since the government issued a teacher certification program. The qualified teachers with an undergraduate degree of education could join the certification program for teachers. This research aims to reveal the meaning of wellbeing for male teachers of early childhood education. It applied survey and interview methods. The subjects consisted of 16 male teachers of early childhood education in Boyolali. The data were collected with Google Form. Then, it was continued by interviewing three male teachers. The data analysis was descriptive qualitative. The findings were the teaching experience for each different subject. The meaning of teaching is to motivate and to encourage the understanding of the teaching concept as a good deed. In this research, it referred to how the subjects perceived life as teachers and made it an everlasting deed to create a better generation for the country. There were 11 respondents who stated that being early childhood education teachers made them having well-being. Being early childhood education for the male teachers meant to have passion, values, and ideals. It could provide them various experiences such as being patient, providing excellent models as if they were the learners' parents, working while worshiping, contributing in the parenting field, and developing early childhood education

Abstract

Social learning is necessary in daily life to meet human needs through identifiable problem solving. However, what happened was students did not have learning experience that connects the theories with real life, learning was focused on giving materials to the students. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) model and role playing assisted by audio-visual media in learning outcomes of social studies at fifth grade state elementary school Sulang 2. The research method was used a quasi- experimental design with a non-equivalent group design. The sample for experiment 1 was thought by usingPBL model assisted by audio-visual media, while the sample for experiment 2 was used role playing assisted by audio-visual media. Data analysis was performed by using kolmogorov-smirnov test with SPSS 23 aids. The mean score of post-tests in experiment class 1 increased with 77.4 point and experiment 2 with 68.4 point. The results of the t-test analysis were homogeneous, with sig value = 0.130, so that p> 0.05, so as Ho was rejected, and Ha was accepted. The results showed that 21 students in the experiment 1 and 14 students in the experiment 2 reached minimum completeness criteriaat social science in the fifth grade by 75. The results of the N-gain analysis for the experimental class 1 showed a result of 0.965 and the experimental class 2 of 0.525. Based on these findings, it was shown that learning in the experimental class 1 which experience PBL assisted by audio-visual media was more effective and could improve learning outcomes than that of the experimental class 2 which experience role playing assisted by audio-visual media.

Abstract

Mathematical understanding is one of the important goals in learning. Students are not just memorizing but are expected to understand the concept of the subject matter itself. In developing mathematical abilities, especially mathematical understanding, students must have self-confidence in their abilities to avoid anxiety and doubt. This study aims to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education model on the mathematical understanding and self-confidence of fourth grade students. This study uses a combination method (Mixed Method) Concurrent Embedded design. The results showed that there was an effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education learning model on the mathematical understanding and self-confidence of the students who were shown to have successfully completed the mathematical understanding of 25 out of 30 students. Meanwhile, students who got individual scores 70 or 83.33% of the proportion who achieved the above mastery at least were 75% classically. The average mathematical understanding using Realistic Mathematics Education learning model with an average result percentage of 82.00%. Students' self-confidence influences mathematical understanding by 43.5% and 56.5% is influenced by other factors. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Realistic Mathematics Education model has a strong influence on students' mathematical understanding and self-confidence in elementary schools.

Abstract

Kulon Progo is one of the regencies in the Special Region of Yogyakarta which has a Regional Regulation Number 65 of 2017 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Character Education Strengthening. The extracurricular culture of Kemataraman is one of the supporting activities for character development. The purpose of this study is to obtain a description of the planning, preparation, implementation, and achievements of the Kemataraman culture-based program. The research was conducted using a qualitative method with a program evaluation approach. The evaluation used CIPP model (Context, Input, Procces, Product) which is more comprehensive and effective to improve the program. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, document studies, and structured observation. The subject in this study were the Head of Education Office, the Head of Education Planning Section, Principals, class teachers, and art assistant teachers. The data analysis used Milles & Huberman analysis. The result of the study indicate that the objectives of the character education program based on Kemataraman culture have not been fully achieved. There is still gap between the forms of support by the government to schools as organizers and teachers as implementers. The researcher recommends the character education program based on Kemataraman culture at the Kulon Progo regency Elementary School to be continued with improvements.

Abstract

The teaching materials used by students only based on student books and certain printed worksheets as learning resources and regardless the student’s character in delivering the materials. Teaching materials that have not been able to increase students’ interest in learning of our school. The purpose of this study was to develop teaching materials for the properties of light with Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) approach in science learning, determine eligibility criteria, and the effect of implementing teaching materials to increase student interest in learning. The research model uses the Sugiyono (2018) development design which is modified into three stages, namely preliminary studies, development, and implementation. Data analysis techniques in the research process include feasibility analysis of teaching materials, N-gain test and Mann Whitney Nonparametric Test to determine the effect of teaching materials on student interest in learning. The results of the study show that (1) the results of validation by experts and practitioners of teaching materials on the properties of light charged with TPACK with an average of 89.53% with very feasible criteria (2) the results of implementing teaching materials can increase students' interest in learning science. This result is evidenced by the average N-gain of the experimental class students of 0.54 (moderate) and the control class students of 0.26 (weak). The results of the Mann Whitney Nonparametric Test obtained the Asymp Sig value < 0.05, then Ho was rejected, this means that there is a significant increase in student interest in learning by using teaching materials for the properties of light with TPACK contain.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Project-Based Learning on students' conceptual understanding and creativity. In this study, students will carry out a diorama project made from inorganic waste with the theme of the diversity of Indonesian society. This research is quantitative in the form of a Quasi-Experiment type One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The selection of research samples using cluster sampling techniques. The number of respondents was 97 fourth-grade students at two elementary schools in Subang Regency. This research was conducted using blended learning considering the pandemic situation when the research was carried out. The data collection technique is triangulation which consists of tests, observations, and documentation. The data analysis used was N-Gain analysis, simple regression test, and hypothesis testing. The results obtained prove that there is a significant effect between the Project-Based Learning model on students' conceptual understanding and creativity. This is supported by the research findings on the T-Test about the effect of Project-Based Learning on conceptual understanding, it was found that t-count 9.32 > t-table 1.68 which showed a significant effect. Furthermore, the results of hypothesis testing using the T-test the effect of Project-Based Learning on creativity obtained tcount 9.29 > t-table 1.68 which shows there is a significant effect. The resulting Pearson correlation is 69% which is categorized as a strong influence. This is due to Project-Based Learning, which is an active learning model, so that students can freely express ideas in preparing projects, and there are new learning experiences that can add insight. Based on analysis, can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning can significantly affect on the student ability to understand conceps and creativity.

Abstract

The Problem Submission and Solving (JUCAMA) learning model is a learning model that is oriented towards problem submission and solving to improve students' creative thinking skills.The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of ethnomathematics JUCAMA learning models and to determine the influence of the mathematical habits of mind on the creative thinking ability of students. The research method used for this research is a mixed-method using a sequential explanatory design. The population in this study were students of class VIII in Junior High School of State at Sub-District Donggo Regency of Bima which is not a One-stop Middle School and the sample is class VIII of Junior High School of State 3 Donggo. Class VIII/A is the control class and class VIII/B is the experimental class. The results was showed that the average creative thinking ability of students taught by using etnomathematics JUCAMA learning model more higher than the average thinking ability of students taught by problem-based learning. Students who are taught with the ethnomathematical JUCAMA learning model experience an increase in creative thinking skills in the medium category, while students who are taught with problem-solving learning models experience an increase in creative thinking skills in the low category based on the N-gain category. In improving the creative thinking ability, the ethnomathematics JUCAMA learning models were applied to the experimental class more effective than problem-solving learning models were applied to the control class. There is the influence of the mathematical habits of mind on the creative thinking ability of students.
