Abstract

Early adulthood will experience stress, insecurity, worry, and social pressure regarding life goals, including students, which is called a quarter-life crisis. One factor that affects the quarter-life crisis is hope. This study aims to analyze the relationship of hope with the quarter-life crisis in early adulthood. This study uses a quantitative approach. The measuring instrument in this study uses a quarter-life crisis scale based on Robbins and Wilner's theory and a hope scale based on Snyder's theory. The sample amounted to 330 early adult students. Sampling using non-probability sampling method with purposive sampling technique. The hypothesis of this study was tested using Pearson's product-moment correlation. The study results showed a correlation coefficient (rxy = -0.249) with p = 0.000 (p ˂ 0.05), namely there is a very significant negative relationship between hope and quarter-life crisis in early adulthood, so the hypothesis is accepted. The higher the level of hope in individuals, the lower the level of quarter-life crisis experienced, and vice versa, the lower the hope, the higher the quarter-life crisis experienced by individuals.

Abstract

The death of a parent is a difficult thing for a child even the child become adult grown up. Even child become adults, in reality they still need parental. The sadness because of parent due to illness has different grief than sudden death. This study describes the dynamics of individuals with the experience of parental death due to illness. Using qualitative design of two subjects. Data collection using Ross's & Kessler theory (2014). The research data were analyzed through data reduction, data display creation, and data interpretation. The results explain that two subjects did not go through the anger stage. The death of a parent with the same gender as the subject causes a change in the role played by the subject. Moreover, when the subject becomes the only man or woman in the family after the death of a parent. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of psychological well-being on the commitment of the Intraschool Student Organization (OSIS) administrators at SMKN 2 Bandar Lampung. Low commitment of the Intra-School Student Organization (OSIS) administrators can impact the effectiveness of implementing organizational programs. One of the factors influencing this commitment is psychological well-being, which encompasses self-acceptance, good interpersonal relationships, and personal growth. This study employs a quantitative approach. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression to assess the extent to which psychological well-being affects OSIS commitment. The results showed a significant positive influence of psychological well-being on the commitment of OSIS administrators. This indicates that the higher the level of psychological wellbeing, the greater the commitment of OSIS administrators in carrying out organizational activities. Based on these findings, it is recommended that schools pay more attention to student development to enhance commitment to the organization.  Keywords: Organizational Commitment; Student Council Members; Psychology Well-Being

Abstract

Indonesia’s employment data reveals a significant disparity between the unemployment rate, which is largely dominated by vocational high school (SMK) graduates, and the institution’s aim of preparing work-ready graduates. This is due to a mismatch between student’s interest and their chosen fields of study also industry demands. SMK students require optimism to face these challenges by fostering a more positive outlook on their future. Optimism is influenced by various factors, including self-esteem and proactive personality. This study aims to explore the relationship between self-esteem, proactive personality, and optimism among 202 twelfth-grade SMK students. This research employs a quantitative approach using multiple correlation analysis as the primary method, supported by partial correlation analysis and a two-sample t-test. The results indicate a significant and positive relationship between self-esteem, proactive personality, and optimism (r = 0.241; p < 0.05). This research provides a reference for understanding factors influencing optimism, particularly among SMK students. Abstract

This study explores light as a metaphor for consciousness by integrating Suhrawardi’s philosophy of illumination with modern psychology. In Suhrawardi’s view, light is not only a metaphysical symbol but an ontological reality linking human beings to the divine source of knowledge. Meanwhile, modern psychology examines consciousness through neurocognitive, cognitive, and phenomenological perspectives. Using a qualitative library-based method and philosophical hermeneutics, this research identifies areas of convergence and divergence between the two approaches. The findings reveal that Suhrawardi’s gradation of light offers a framework for understanding consciousness as a multilayered spiritual process rather than merely a biological phenomenon. This concept parallels modern psychology’s notions of self-actualization and peak experience. The integration of these perspectives provides valuable insights for developing spirituality-based psychotherapy, Islamic counseling, and consciousness education in Indonesia, highlighting the relevance of Islamic intellectual traditions to contemporary psychological discourse. Abstract

Poor academic resilience could lead to increased stress, decreased motivation to learn, difficulties in overcoming academic challenges, and burnout, which could ultimately result in a risk of dropping out of school. This study aimed to analyze the influence of emotion regulation and parental support on students' academic resilience. The research was conducted at State Vocational High School 1 Purwosari, targeting students in the RPL, APHP, and Mechatronics departments. The study involved a sample of 191 students selected using proportionate random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, and hypothesis testing was carried out using multiple regression analysis. The results showed that each independent variable (emotion regulation and parental support) had a partial significant effect on academic resilience (Sig.t = p < 0.05). Likewise, both independent variables simultaneously also had a significant effect on students' academic resilience (Sig.F = p < 0.05). Thus, both partially and simultaneously, all proposed hypotheses were proven to be accepted. Keywords: Academic resilience, emotion regulation, parental support

Abstract

The differences in life abroad present challenges for students in adapting to new cultures and environments, which often lead to feelings of alienation due to differences in socio-cultural norms and longing for loved ones. This condition can trigger negative emotions in the form of loneliness, which is influenced by social support. This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and loneliness in 349 first-year students from Makassar City aged 18-24 years living in boarding houses and originating from outside South Sulawesi. Using a quantitative approach with instruments in the form of a social support scale and a loneliness scale. Data analysis was carried out using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, ANOVA linearity test, and hypothesis testing using Pearson correlation. The results showed a significant negative relationship between social support and loneliness (r = -0.884, p < 0.05). This finding demonstrates the importance of family and friend support in preventing loneliness for students from traveling. Abstract

Anxiety is a complex emotional response that is temporary and can vary in intensity depending on the situation faced by the individual. This study aims to determine the relationship between experiences of emotional abuse and levels of anxiety in young adults in Banjarmasin City. The approach used in this research is quantitative with a correlational design. A total of 100 respondents aged 18 to 25 years were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were obtained through a questionnaire containing two main scales: an anxiety scale adapted from the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and an emotional abuse scale measured using The Multidimensional Measure of Emotional Abuse (MMEA). The results of the data analysis indicate a significant positive relationship between emotional abuse and anxiety (ρ = 0.573; p< 0.001), meaning that the higher the emotional abuse experienced, the higher the level of anxiety in individuals. These findings highlight the importance of education, early detection, and awareness regarding emotional abuse to foster healthy relationships in early adulthood.  Keywords: Anxiety in Romantic Relationships, Emotional Abuse, Young Adults

Abstract

Users of roleplay accounts on social media exhibit interaction patterns that encourage the construction of ideal identities alongside the free expression of alternative identities. This study aims to investigate the influence of social support on self-discrepancy. Employing a quantitative approach with a causal associative design, the research involved 339 roleplay account users. Instruments utilized included the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet et al., 1988) and a Self-Discrepancy scale based on Higgins’ (1987) theory, adapted by the researcher. Results indicate a significant positive effect of social support on self-discrepancy, accounting for 21.3% of the variance. Higher perceived social support correlates with greater self-discrepancy. These findings suggest that social support does not uniformly yield positive outcomes, particularly when individuals experience pressure to conform to expectations within virtual identities. This study contributes significantly to advancing theoretical understanding of social support mechanisms in digital environments and provides an empirical basis for developing adaptive mental health interventions tailored to the complexities of social media interactions.  Keywords: Social Support, Virtual Identity, Social Media, Roleplay, Self-Discrepancy

Abstract

Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death, particularly among Generation Z, with aggressive driving behavior being one of the main contributing factors. This behavior is often associated with low stress coping skills. This study aims to examine the relationship between stress coping and aggressive driving behavior. This study employs a quantitative correlational method, utilizing the Aggressive Driving Behavior Scale (ADBS) and Ways of Coping Stress instruments. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, comprising 100 Generation Z participants from a motorcycle community. Data analysis using Spearman’s rho correlation test showed a coefficient of -0.598 with a p-value < 0.001. This result indicates a strong negative relationship: the better an individual manages stress, the lower their aggressive behavior on the road. These findings emphasize the importance of stress management as a psychological intervention to reduce aggression and contribute to reducing traffic accident rates.  Keywords: Aggressive Driving Behavior, Coping Stress, Z Generation
