Abstract

Computational Thinking (CT) is one of the approaches in learning that can be used to train students in solving complex problems into simpler ones so that they can be solved more effectively. Research on the effectiveness of CT in learning has been widely conducted, but reflective research that explores the experiences of prospective language teachers has not been widely found. This study aims to reveal the reflections of prospective Indonesian language teachers when implementing the Computational Thinking (CT) approach in the learning process. This study uses a qualitative approach with a reflective-narrative study design. The data sources in this study are 19 prospective language teachers who are currently participating in education and training organized by a private university in Indonesia. Based on thematic analysis of the results of participant reflections, four main themes were found, namely (1) interesting experiences in implementing CT, (2) challenges and failures faced, (3) changes in mindset and learning strategies, and (4) improving the quality of learning. The results of the study show that although the implementation of CT presents cognitive challenges, the use of CT is able to form systematic mindsets, encourage self-evaluation, and improve the quality of learning design and implementation. This study recommends strengthening practice-based and reflection-based CT training in prospective teacher education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Indonesian-language e-learning platform integrated with Islamic values, using gamification to enhance student engagement and meaningful learning in the digital era. The research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Needs analysis involved Indonesian language teachers and students to identify learning challenges and integration opportunities. The developed platform provides interactive materials, gamified quizzes, discussion forums, and automated feedback. Expert validation results show high validity, with an average feasibility score of 87.2%, while practicality testing indicates a convenient category, with a user response score of 88.8%. The novelty lies in the systematic integration of gamification and Islamic values within an ADDIE-based Indonesian language e-learning platform.

The philosophy of Huma Betang, as a symbol of longhouses symbolizing communal living, mutual assistance and social balance. Using an interpretive phenomenology approach, this research was carried out at SD Negeri 2 Palangka. Data were collected through semi-structural in-depth interviews recorded and transcribed, supplemented by participant observation in the school environment. Data analysis was carried out thematically with source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that the experience of internalizing Handep not only enriches leadership identity, but also creates an inclusive school climate. Recommendations include the integration of the Huma Betang philosophy in the national leadership curriculum to support continuing education.

Abstract

This study examined how teachers and students negotiate meaning in a primary CLIL classroom and how teacher scaffolding supports learners’ understanding of both academic content and English language. Using a qualitative micro-genetic design, the research analyzed interactional sequences recorded during fifth-grade science and social studies lessons delivered through English. The findings reveal that meaning negotiation—manifested through clarification requests, confirmation checks, comprehension checks, and recasts—frequently emerges when students struggle with academic terminology. These negotiation episodes facilitate both linguistic development and conceptual understanding. The teacher’s scaffolding, including linguistic simplification, visual support, modeling, tiered questioning, and non-verbal cues, plays a critical role in mediating these processes. Micro-genetic tracking shows that students’ understanding develops gradually across successive turns, demonstrating how scaffolding becomes internalized during interaction. Overall, the study highlights the interdependent roles of negotiation and scaffolding in shaping effective CLIL learning and underscores the importance of teacher interactional competence for supporting young learners in bilingual content classrooms.

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of implementing a Deep Listening strategy through Problem-Based Listening Tasks (PBLT) on the listening competence of first-year university students. A quasi-experimental method employing a pretest–posttest control group design was applied to 42 students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using a listening comprehension test and a cognitive engagement observation instrument. The findings reveal that students exposed to the Deep Listening–PBLT approach achieved substantially higher listening gains than those receiving conventional instruction. The most notable improvements occurred in inferential comprehension and information integration skills. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between groups with a large effect size. These results indicate that integrating deep listening practices with problem-based tasks provides an effective pedagogical approach for enhancing listening competence in higher education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of academic supervision, job satisfaction, and integrity on teacher performance, with trust in the principal as a mediating variable in public high schools in West Tanjung Jabung Regency. Using a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) analysis techniques through SmartPLS 4, this study involved 139 teachers as a sample. The results showed that integrity significantly influenced teacher performance, while job satisfaction and academic supervision significantly influenced trust in the principal. However, integrity did not influence trust, and trust in the principal did not significantly influence teacher performance. Furthermore, academic supervision and job satisfaction had no direct effect on performance, and all mediation pathways through trust in the principal were declared insignificant. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening integrity and a more comprehensive professional development strategy to improve teacher performance.
