Abstract

Education is something that cannot be underestimated, especially for children. With education, children can develop their creativity. However, there are still many children who do not receive proper education, so this has an impact on children's low fine motor skills. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of playdough modelling techniques and positive reinforcement techniques in improving fine motor skills in children of the Taman Baca Dadali Community in Gresik. The method used in this research is a quasi-experiment using a one-group pretest posttest research design. The subjects in this research were 7 people with characteristics including (1) subjects aged 4-10 years; (2) the subject has poor fine motor skills; (3) the subject is willing to follow modelling techniques by playing with playdough and positive reinforcement techniques from start to finish. The data collection technique in this research used the Frostig test during pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique used is the gain score and the U-Mann Withney test. The results of data analysis obtained a significance value of 0.047 (p<0.05), which means that playdough modelling techniques and positive reinforcement techniques affect increasing fine motor skills in children.

Abstract

Direct elections do not always run well. The aggressiveness of political partisans, who are sometimes hostile – swearing and verbally blaspheming one another on social media – during the campaign triggers a wider public conflict. Teenagers play an active role as novice voters in elections, yet verbal aggression of social conflicts on social media is prone to occur. This study is a multi-year research. In the first year, it mapped down the verbal aggression tendencies of young voters in Indonesia using literature and explanatory studies. It examined the theory and identified factors inducing polite behaviors. It was conducted in several areas around East Java for 6 months. The respondents in this study comprised 500 novice voters from designated provinces, with 100 samples from each. This quantitative research instrument involved verbal aggression, positive thinking, and positive communication as instruments analyzed and measured according to compatible measuring instruments. The study results indicated that teenagers who make the most of logic and common sense in thinking are not susceptible, especially to things that don't make sense. Logic teenagers prefer to ignore bad thoughts. Consequently, they hold a high sense of empathy once communicating, are calm, and tough to be emotionally provoked. Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic left so much unknown and unexplored knowledge in the field of Positive Psychology. This systematic literature review (SLR) aims to identify the factors that can predict posttraumatic growth after the traumatic exposure of COVID-19 pandemic. This SLR employed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, with article selection criteria formulated using the Populations, Exposure, Outcomes, and Study Design (PEOS) framework. This SLR found that the only consistent external predictive factor for PTG is social support, while the consistent internal factors from inside the individual are self-efficacy, resilience, adaptive coping, and rumination. Emotional creativity and psychological flexibility were other internal factors considered as predictors.   The demographic factors which are considered can predict PTG are being female, age, and economic status. The results of this literature review found that most studies on predictors for PTG came from the geographical setting of China, with Cross-Sectional as the most preferred study design. Findings from this SLR contribute to future research agenda concerning study design and geographical setting, as well as mental health promotion to increase PTG in the community after years of COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract

The concept of social entrepreneurship has gained popularity in Indonesia. However, there has been a lack of development in measuring individuals' readiness or interest in social entrepreneurship within the Indonesian context. Based on a literature review, there are no existing studies that have translated and adapted instruments to measure the antecedents of social entrepreneurship for students. One such instrument, the Social Entrepreneurial Antecedents Scale (SEAS), was originally developed to assess social entrepreneurial intentions. This study aims to adapt the scale, especially for students in tertiary institutions for 131 students. Following Beaton's theoretical framework, the research was conducted in six stages: translation, synthesis, back translation, expert committee review, pre-testing, and assessment. The construct validity of the adapted scale was analyzed through confirmatory factor analysis using JAMOVI, focusing on four aspects of social entrepreneurship: empathy, moral obligation, self-efficacy, and social support. The adapted scale, which consists of 14 items, has a reliability coefficient of 0.835. Item discrimination for these 14 items ranged from 0.207 to 0.684. Based on the adaptation process results, this sociopreneurship scale is valid for measuring social entrepreneurial intentions and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions aimed at fostering such intentions. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the education sector and caused stress for first-year students who have to adapt to a period of continence in higher education. Students can deal with stress using coping methods, but the coping mechanisms they choose may not always reduce stress. Coping strategies are not the only way to deal with stress; perceived social support also contribute to students’ stress levels. This study aims to determine the role of perceived social support as a mediator between coping and stress in first-year students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Using the cluster random sampling technique , 437 first-year students were selected, comprising 111 men and 326 women, as participants. The instruments for data collection were DASS-21, Brief COPE-28, and ISEL-16. The data were analyzed using the Sobel test technique. The indirect effect results show that perceived social support is a mediator between problem-focused coping (PFC) with stress (p < 0.001; β = -0.027), emotion-focused coping (EFC) with stress (p < 0.001; β = -0.020), and avoidant coping (AVC) with stress (p < 0.001; β = 0.035). Perceived social support has a full mediation effect on the relationship between PFC and stress, the relationship between EFC and stress, and a partial mediation effect on the relationship between AVC and stress. PFC and EFC will not be able to play a significant role in reducing stress levels if there is no perception of social support. This study provides findings that when first-year students use AVC, the environment needs to provide positive social support. Therefore, the role of AVC is reduced and stress levels are reduced. The findings of the mediating role of perceived social support are beneficial because they provide empirical evidence for theoretical and practical implications. Abstract

Self-confidence is crucial for students to unlock their potential and enhance personal growth. However, some students struggle with low self-confidence, shyness, and anxiety when expressing their opinions in the classroom. Individuals with low self-confidence may experience negative emotions and self-perceptions. This research investigates the impact of self-talk techniques on boosting students' self-confidence. This study falls into the category of quasi-experimental with a one-group pretest-post-test design. The participants in this research were seven 5th-grade elementary school students who exhibited low self-confidence. Self-confidence assessment was conducted using a ten-item scale based on Lauster’s Theory. Subsequently, the data were subjected to descriptive analysis and the Sign Test. This study's findings reveal positive self-talk techniques can enhance students' self-confidence. These results offer valuable insights to educators, teachers, and other stakeholders, shedding light on effective strategies to assist students in overcoming their fears and anxieties while helping them realize their full potential through straightforward psychological methods like positive self-talk techniques. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well marriage counseling employs group dynamics and desensitization techniques to lessen prospective brides' and grooms' anxiety. An ABA design is used in this single-subject study. Four people participated in this study: two prospective brides and two prospective grooms. Descriptive analysis is added to visual analysis, also known as visual inspection, in data analysis. The study's findings demonstrate that systematic desensitization techniques combined with relaxation therapy can effectively lower prospective brides' and grooms' anxiety levels. The outcomes both before and after treatment demonstrate this. Counselors and other caregivers may utilize this method as an alternative to help prospective brides and grooms feel less anxious. Abstract

The primary objective of this research was to investigate the influence of storytelling as a pedagogical approach on the development of empathy in a group of bilingual kindergarten students. To achieve this, an experimental research design was employed, utilizing a one-group pretest-posttest comparative methodology. The study involved 12 bilingual kindergarten students; all of them were part of the experimental group. An initial examination of descriptive statistical data revealed that the average pretest score was 43.08, which increased to 45.00 in the post-test, indicating a notable improvement in the student's scores. Further statistical analysis, specifically the Wilcoxon test, confirmed the significance of the impact of storytelling on the students' empathy levels. The test resulted in a significance value of p = 0.002 (p < 0.01), providing compelling evidence that storytelling as a teaching method had a substantial and positive effect on enhancing empathy in bilingual kindergarten students. These findings suggest that incorporating storytelling into the curriculum can be a valuable tool in nurturing empathy in young learners, with potential implications for enhancing their social and emotional development. Abstract

Generally, the workforce is dominated by men, but data from the Statistics Indonesia highlight a different trend in Surabaya City as the number of working women is increasing. These working women also include married women who have responsibilities both at work and in their families. The relationship between these two responsibilities is often negatively viewed. The work-family enrichment theory explains that there are positive contributions that can be made between these two roles. The theory suggests that psychological factors contribute to the formation of work-family enrichment. Providing an overview of the contributions of optimism and self-efficacy to work-family enrichment is the aim of this study. It involved 120 working women in Surabaya City. Its research subjects were married women, aged between 20 and 39 years, had been working for at least 1 year, and worked full-time for a standard workday of 8 hours or 40 hours per week. The samplings of this study were obtained by convenience sampling. It utilized the Work-family Enrichment Scale (36 items, α=0.97), the Optimism Scale (10 items, α=0.63), and the Self-efficacy Scale (8 items, α=0.86). A multiple linear regression was implemented to test the hypotheses of this study. It reveals a positive relationship between optimism & self-efficacy and work-family enrichment. Self-efficacy and optimism together accounted for 63.1% of their contribution. It suggests the importance for the working wives to develop their optimism and self-efficacy to increase work-family enrichment and achieve a satisfactory balance between work and family. Abstract

A systematic review on promoting forgiveness in addressing victimization analyzed 36 studies selected from 72 articles retrieved from the Scopus database spanning the years 2004 to 2023. Included articles were required to be in English, present at least an abstract, not be review articles themselves, and focus on forgiveness among victims of bullying. Critical factors influencing forgiveness identified in the literature encompass the nature of bullying, the presence of justice and punishment, empathy, timing of interventions, personal beliefs, and cognitive processes. Age-related differences also emerged as significant, necessitating tailored approaches for children, adolescents, and adults. Proposed strategies include implementing restorative justice initiatives for children, employing avoidance strategies for adolescents, and recognizing the religious dimensions for adults. Integrating forgiveness-oriented programs in educational settings, parenting practices, and workplace training is essential for shifting victims' negative perceptions toward positive outcomes.
