Abstract

Islam Nusantara, rooted in Indonesia's local traditions and culture, offers a moderate and inclusive approach to Islam, emphasizing social harmony and interfaith tolerance. Meanwhile, Islam Berkemajuan, often associated with the Muhammadiyah movement, focuses on modernization, rationality, and social progress through education and community development. This study aims to explore and analyze the differences and potential synergies between the concepts of Islam Nusantara and Islam Berkemajuan. The method used is a literature review with content analysis. The study data is derived from various books, articles, and other scholarly works relevant to the study's theme. The findings indicate that Islam Nusantara and Islam Berkemajuan are two complementary concepts that can create a harmonious and progressive society. By examining the theological, historical, and sociological foundations of these two concepts, the study provides deep insights into their contributions to the development of Islam in Indonesia in integrating traditional values with the demands of modern progress.

Abstract

Problem internal yang dialami umat Islam saat ini adalah adanya gerakan gerakan keagamaan eksklusif yang sesama muslim disebut “pihak lain” karena perbedaan pandangan. Bahkan gerakan ekslusif tersebut dibarengi dengan mengklaim kelompok muslim sebagai kafir, sesat, dan bid’ah. Selain itu, problem lain yang dihadapi oleh umat Islam adalah adanya kelompok muslim yang melakukan aksi kekerasan dengan mengatasnamakan Tuhan dan agama, agama seolah olah dijadikan surat rekomendasi untuk melakukan tindakan kekerasan kepada kelompok lain, jihad adalah tema yang sangat unik dan menarik untuk diteliti dan dikaji secara lebih serius. Jihad sebagai research theme, selalu dalam perdebatan yang terus-menerus tidak usai dan telah banyak melahirkan karya-karya ilmiah, serta melahirkan kajian-kajian yang terbilang mendalam. Empat tingkatan jihad dalam kitab Fathul Mu’in yakni (1) mengajak umat untuk beriman kepada Allah dengan iman yang rasional dan argumentatif sehingga merupakan iman yang berkualitas, (2) jihad menjalankan perintah syariat agama (3) kalau umat Islam diganggu, boleh melaksanakan perang (4) jihad memberikan perlindungan kepada setiap warga masyarakat, muslim atau non muslim, Konsep jihad yang ditawarkan dalam kitab Fathul Mu’in memiliki kandungan hukum Fardhu Kifayah, Dan (hukumnya) berubah menjadi Fardhu ‘Ain sesuai dengan konteks yang sedang terjadi. Dalam konteks pluralitas agama, konsep jihad yang ada dalam kitab Fathul Mu’in nampaknya masih cukup relevan untuk diterapkan dalam upaya peace building dalam bingkai kerukunan antar umat beragama

Abstract

This study investigates the phonological interference of the Javanese language in Arabic communication among students at Pesantren. Arabic is a medium of instruction and daily communication within the pesantren, yet students’ mother tongue often influences their mastery of Arabic. This qualitative descriptive research identifies and categorizes forms of phonological interference—such as the insertion of non-Arabic phonemes like ta, to, e, seh, and yo—which significantly alter the intended meaning in Arabic discourse. Data were collected through structured observations, interviews, and audio recordings. The findings demonstrate a persistent pattern of phonemic substitution and addition that impacts pronunciation, intonation, and syntactic fluency in Arabic speech. This study reveals the linguistic challenges posed by triglossia and bilingualism in traditional Islamic boarding schools. It provides pedagogical recommendations, including phonological awareness training and the integration of contrastive linguistic methods. These insights are vital for developing more adaptive Arabic language instruction tailored to the linguistic realities of pesantren students, thereby contributing to more effective bilingual education frameworks in Islamic learning institutions

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the concept of asbab al-nuzul in the Qur'an and the educational value contained therein. Asbab al-nuzul, which is the cause of the revelation of the Qur'anic verse, has an important role in understanding the meaning of the verse that is more contextual, as well as providing wisdom that can be applied in the world of education. Therefore, this study aims to explore the educational values that can be taken from asbab al-nuzul and how the strategy of embedding these educational values in the learning process can be used. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review as a data collection technique. The results of this study show that the educational values found in asbab al-nuzul include determination, gradual learning, relevance of the context of events to teaching materials, and the formation of disciplined and responsible characters. This study concludes that asbab al-nuzul not only functions as an explanation of the context in which the verse was revealed but also as a means to instill educational values that can be applied in Islamic education, such as increasing faith, creating interesting learning, and developing the character of students. Strategies that can be applied to instill these educational values include relevant opening techniques, counseling, and adjusting the curriculum to the conditions of students.

Abstract

The paper examines the idea of Islamization of human knowledge as formulated by Mohd. Kamal Hassan (1942-2023). It aims to survey its thoughtful and lasting impact as reflected in the context of his inspiring moral, spiritual, and religious ideals that influence intellectual tradition and metaphysical consciousness and the contemporary landscape of educational policy and practice in Malaysia. The philosophy and conceptual framework of Islamization of knowledge he developed was realized in the curriculum and policies of the International Islamic University Malaysia, whose structural formation and ideology were enshrined in the University’s constitution since its establishment in 1983. The study is based on a qualitative method in the form of a literature review and documentary survey. The data were scientifically analyzed using descriptive, analytical, historical, and synthesis frameworks to make an objective and accurate finding. The finding shows that Kamal has made a significant and influential impact in gearing the ideas of the tawhid worldview through his inspiring works that planned and implemented the principle of Islamization of knowledge in Malaysia. The study contributes to highlighting his consequential and unprecedented concept and holistic approaches in introducing a comprehensive theory and values of tawhid and its cultural manifestation through the theory of Islamization (Islamiyyatul ma‘rifat), integration of knowledge and values (takamul al-ma‘rifi), comprehensive excellence and Islamicization that help to reset the current context and progress of education and intellectual life in Malaysia

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of dhikr on brain neuroplasticity and its implications for mental health. Using the thematic tafsir method, this study collects and analyses Qur'anic verses related to dhikr and mental health and examines books of tafsir as primary data sources. In contrast, secondary data are taken from books and scientific journal articles. The results show that the practice of dhikr can form new neural pathways related to concentration, emotional control, and improved cognitive abilities. Regular dhikr activities are proven to strengthen the brain's synaptic connections and improve the optimization of brain function through engaged focus. These findings indicate a convergence between spiritual practices and scientific findings, making dhikr an effective way to improve mental health and overall quality of life.

Abstract

Currently, the debate surrounding the lineage of the Habib is becoming increasingly widespread. However, in its present development, this issue has turned into a platform for mutual hostility. Therefore, a middle ground is needed to prevent the discourse on lineage from becoming more uncontrolled. The Qur'an can serve as a solution to strengthen the unity of the Muslim ummah. Using a literature-based approach and critical analysis of Qur'anic evidence, this study investigates the exclusivity of the title Habib within tradition and controversy. The study examines the established traditions and the associated controversies, offering Qur'anic solutions to address this phenomenon—particularly in promoting equality, Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), and social justice. It is also expected to provide a more objective understanding of the position and role of the Habib within Muslim society, as well as to develop a more inclusive method for fostering communal harmony. This study positions the Qur'an—the holy book—as a source of guidance for morality and brotherhood, teaching that the most honorable person in the sight of Allah is the most pious one. The Qur'an can thus be a unifying force for Muslims. Through the approach of library research and critical analysis of Qur'anic arguments, this study reconstructs the traditions and controversies surrounding the Habib title based on Qur'anic principles in order to prevent uncontrolled discourse that could undermine the harmony of the ummah.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of breast milk donation in a village and its impact on nasab (lineage) status from Yusuf Qaradawi's perspective on breastfeeding regulations. The research aims to analyze how this practice influences mahram relationships in the village community. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, employing in-depth interviews and documentation. The findings show that 19 residents have participated in breast milk donation. Among them, 10 individuals are considered mahram according to Yusuf Qaradawi’s criteria, having been breastfed more than five times, while eight individuals are not mahram as they were only breastfed once. A unique case was found where a couple unknowingly married their milk sibling, leading to their children performing tajdidunnikah (marriage renewal). The village community believes that a single instance of breastfeeding establishes a mahram relationship, differing from Yusuf Qaradawi’s view. The novelty of this research lies in its analysis of real cases within the context of Islamic family law and its application in rural society. This study contributes to the development of Islamic legal understanding regarding breast milk donation and provides a sociological perspective through Emile Durkheim's Structural Functionalism theory, demonstrating that mechanical solidarity plays a role in shaping legal norms in society.

Abstract

As an Islamic movement and da'wah of Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Mungkar, which are sourced from the Quran and sunnah, Muhammadiyah needs to move in the regeneration process for the creation of progress or civilization. The purpose of this study is to know the concept of Muhammadiyah cadre development at the Muhammadiyah Boarding School Pleret Bantul Yogyakarta. This research is field research using a qualitative descriptive approach. This approach is intended to collect in-depth information about the development of Muhammadiyah cadres in the Muhammadiyah Boarding School Pleret Bantul Yogyakarta and get appropriate results from field research. Data collection is carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. In addition, researchers collect data by triangulation, which is collecting data while testing the credibility of the data by comparing various data collection techniques and various data sources. After all the data is collected, data analysis is carried out by reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the development of Muhammadiyah cadres was carried out through learning activities, organizations, and islamic boarding schools. The implementation of the development of Muhammadiyah cadres is divided into three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation

Abstract

In Indonesian society, a tradition represents a social response as a form of appreciation for the presence of the Qur'an. One such tradition that has endured to this day is Yasinan. Yasinan is a form of cultural acculturation practiced by Muslims in Indonesia for generations. This tradition can be found in various regions, particularly rural areas or villages. This research is a field study using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The findings reveal several forms of Surah Yasin recitation practices in Wonosari Village, namely: (1) Yasin on Friday nights, (2) Yasin during the throes of death, (3) Yasin after someone's passing, (4) Yasin as a form of healing, (5) Yasin on the night of Nisfu Sya’ban, and (6) Yasin to fulfill specific needs. This study also highlights how the Yasinan tradition is not merely a religious ritual but also a mechanism for social and cultural adaptation in the face of changing times. These findings contribute new insights into understanding the role of the Qur'an as a living tradition that continues to evolve and influence the socio-cultural life of Indonesian Muslim communities, particularly at the local level
