Abstract

The phenomenon of homosexuality has become a complex issue in the context of global social and cultural developments, especially in the modern era which often encourages a shift in traditional values. In Islam, the story of the people of Luth in the Qur'an is often used as the main basis for evaluating this phenomenon, with an emphasis on the prohibition of homosexual behavior which is considered morally and spiritually deviant. This study aims to analyze the laws and moral values ​​related to homosexuality based on the perspective of Ibn Kathir's interpretation. As one of the classical tafsir books that has a wide influence in the Islamic scientific tradition, Ibn Kathir's Tafsir offers a rich and in-depth approach in interpreting the verses of the Qur'an related to homosexuality, especially the story of the people of Prophet Luth. This study uses the thematic method (maudu'i) by collecting and analyzing verses related to homosexuality in the Qur'an, as well as examining the interpretation given by Ibn Kathir. The results of the study show that Ibn Kathir firmly categorizes homosexuality as a deviant act according to sharia and morals, and emphasizes the negative social and psychological impacts of such behavior. In his interpretation, he also highlights the importance of preserving family values, and strongly warns against acts that are contrary to human nature. This study also reviews the relevance of the moral values ​​contained in the interpretation for the context of modern society, especially in facing the challenges and debates regarding the normalization of homosexuality. This study is expected to contribute to understanding the Islamic perspective on the issue of homosexuality, as well as strengthening moral and legal insights in order to build a society based on religious and humanitarian values.

Abstract

The phenomenon of childfree , namely the conscious decision not to have offspring, is a contemporary social dynamic that impacts the Islamic family law system, particularly in the area of inheritance. This study aims to analyze how the choice of childfree  affects the structure of inheritance rights in Islam and how the maqashid syari’ah approach can be employed to address these changes. Employing normative legal research methods with theological, conceptual, and maqashid syari’ah approaches, the study finds that the absence of descendants due to a childfree  decision shifts the inheritance structure to horizontal relatives or the public treasury (Baitul Mal). Instruments such as wills (wasiyyah) and grants (hibah) play a crucial role in regulating the distribution of estates in this context. The study concludes that although childfree  alters the traditional family structure, the principles of justice, property protection, and social sustainability can still be upheld within the Islamic legal framework through a maqashid syari’ah based reinterpretation. Therefore, strengthening legal literacy and adjusting regulations are essential to address this phenomenon fairly and in line with Islamic objectives.

Abstract

Pengalaman Langsung atau Experiential Learning merupakan pembahasan yang cukup menarik karena melalui pembelajaran ini peserta didik akan mendapatkan pembelajaran secara utuh karena lebih menekankan kepada hal yang bersifat observasi sehingga seluruh tujuan pendidikan baik afektif, kognitif ataupun psikomotorik akan tercapai. Di era globalisasi ini dibutuhkan untuk menerapkan pembelajaran experiential learning karena  pengetahuannya diperoleh dari sebuah bentuk pengalaman, yang menggabungkan pemahaman yang komprehensif dengan kegiatan yang dilakukan. Dalam penerapan metode ini membutuhkan perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi yang baik sehingga tujuan pembelajaran akan tercapai. Metode penelitian ini dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis penelitian studi kasus konsep implementasi experiental learning di SMP Cahaya Qur’an, dengan menggunakan wawancara, dokumentasi dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode eksperiental learning atau metode pengalaman langsung dapat melalui teknik observasi, berbasis masalah, berbasis proyek, demonstrasi (pembelajaran langsung), fieldtrip, diskusi dan kolaborasi. Dan ini dilakukan di SMP Cahaya Qur’an Islamic Boarding School seperti dalam mata pelajaran fikih dengan bab penyembelihan (udhiyyah), maka dilakukan dengan praktik menyembelih ayam, membersihkan ayam dan memasaknya menjadi aneka masakan, dalam bab perawatan jenazah dengan menggunakan media tarso jenazah, juga dalam materi TIK lebih berkaitan dengan materi yang bisa dipraktekkan secara langsung (terdapat produk yang dihasilkan). Pembuatan film pendek yang berdasarkan materi kitab Lubabul Hadis, menulis buku setiap satu semester dan peningkatan soft skill dalam publik speaking.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji pentingnya pendidikan tinggi sebagai bagian dari aktualisasi fitrah manusia dalam perspektif Islam yang wasathiyah dengan pendekatan multidisipliner sejarah, filsafat, dan sosial keagamaan. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih kuatnya pandangan patriarkis dan deterministik dalam masyarakat pesisir Pantura yang menganggap pendidikan tinggi, terutama bagi perempuan, sebagai hal yang kurang esensial. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif studi pustaka dan analisis teks, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pendidikan tinggi bukan hanya sarana untuk mencetak tenaga profesional, tetapi juga merupakan jalan kodrati bagi manusia untuk mengembangkan potensi akal, spiritual, dan sosialnya. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa konsep fitrah, ikhtiar, dan takdir dalam Islam justru mendorong manusia untuk terus belajar, termasuk hingga ke jenjang pendidikan tinggi. Integrasi teori pendidikan klasik nativisme, empirisme, dan konvergensi dengan prinsip-prinsip Islam menghasilkan kerangka pemikiran baru tentang urgensi pendidikan tinggi dalam membangun masyarakat yang berdaya dan berkeadaban. Implikasi dari studi ini memberikan dorongan untuk mendesain kurikulum dan kebijakan pendidikan yang inklusif serta kontekstual terhadap realitas sosial-ekonomi kawasan pesisir. Penelitian ini menyarankan pentingnya keterlibatan negara, pesantren, dan keluarga dalam menyadarkan masyarakat akan nilai strategis pendidikan tinggi sebagai jalan fitrah yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a design for Islamic Religious Education (IRE) that is pluralistic, inclusive, and humanistic—grounded in values and the direction of educational reform—in response to the challenges posed by socio-religious diversity in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature study, this research analyzes a wide range of academic sources and relevant IRE teaching practices. The main findings reveal that a responsive IRE instructional design that acknowledges interpretive pluralism, accommodates learners from diverse backgrounds, and upholds human values is an urgent necessity in a multicultural era. The proposed model emphasizes the integration of three core approaches: (1) pluralistic—by presenting differences among Islamic schools of thought and facilitating interfaith dialogue; (2) inclusive—by accommodating identity diversity and special needs among students; and (3) humanistic—by reinforcing the values of rahmah (compassion), ‘adl (justice), and empathy through reflective and experiential learning. The novelty of this research lies in its formulation of an instructional design that simultaneously and integrally incorporates all three approaches, in contrast to previous studies that tend to treat them in isolation. This study contributes not only by offering a more contextual and applicable curricular framework but also by recommending pedagogical strategies that position IRE as an agent of moderation and social transformation. The model is expected to serve as a reference for developing educational policies and practices in Islamic education that are adaptive to contemporary dynamics and uphold humanitarian values.

Abstract

The phenomenon of “marriage is scary,” which is increasingly prevalent among urban youth, reflects deep structural and psychological concerns about the institution of marriage. These concerns are closely linked to economic pressures, high social expectations, and interpersonal challenges shaped by personal experiences or social environments. This study aims to explore the cultural and religious roots of marriage traditions, with a particular focus on walimah al-‘urs, through historical and thematic analysis of the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ hadiths. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing library research methods to systematically collect, examine, and interpret primary sources from canonical hadith collections (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim) and classical commentaries (‘Umdat al-Qari, Sharh Sahih al-Bukhari). Secondarysources include contemporary literature in psychology, sociology, and gender studies, as well as statistical data from official institutions, to contextualize the findings within modern sociopsychological realities. Data analysis follows a thematic-descriptive framework, identifying relevant hadiths that provide normative guidance on marriage celebrations. Three key hadiths were identified from Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim that illustrate the Prophet’s ﷺ principles regarding walimah, emphasizing flexibility, simplicity, and modesty in its practice. The study contributes both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, it provides a nuanced understanding of how prophetic traditions can inform contemporary marriage practices. Practically, it offers a spiritual and social alternative to the modern pressures of marriage culture, particularly the tendencies toward materialism and social performance, thus fostering resilience and a balanced perspective for young Muslims navigating marital expectations

Abstract

This article presents an in-depth study of the pedagogical methodology employed by Imam Burhanuddin al-Zarnuji in his seminal work, Ta'lim al-Muta'allim, with a particular focus on his strategic integration of poetic counsel. The analysis is conducted through the analytical framework of Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory. The findings indicate a profound and intuitive alignment between al-Zarnuji’s classical Islamic pedagogical approach and modern psychological principles. Specifically, the poetic verses within Ta'lim al-Muta'allim effectively embody principles of modeling, vicarious reinforcement, and self-efficacy. This demonstrates that al-Zarnuji’s methods, formulated centuries ago, possess a psychological depth that resonates with contemporary learning theories, positioning Arabic poetry as a strategic instrument for shaping the character and intellect of the learner. The article further discusses the contemporary relevance of these findings for character education and holistic Islamic education, while also acknowledging the necessity for critical engagement and future empirical research to fully operationalize these insights in modern educational contexts.

Abstract

This research aims to empower madrasah communities in implementing better methods of learning the Quran. The problem faced is that MI Maslakul Huda has not been able to optimally implement the 10 pillars of Ummi quality, despite joining since 2018. This research uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, which involves all parties at the madrasah as research partners, not just research objects. The research was conducted with the involvement of madrasah principals, teachers, coordinators, committees, and students' parents. Data was collected thru participant observation, group discussions, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The PAR process is conducted in 4 cycles: jointly identifying the problem, reflecting on the causes, taking corrective action, and evaluating the results. The results show an improvement in the implementation of the 10 pillars of Ummi quality from an average of 71.5 (sufficient) to 84.8 (good). The highest increases were in the learning time aspect (+21 points), coordinator ability (+20 points), and target clarity (+20 points). The research successfully fostered a sense of shared ownership and commitment to sustain the program. This empowerment model can be applied in other madrasas with adjustments to local conditions.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the digital era presents significant ethical challenges to human morality and character. The amoral operation of AI has contributed to the degradation of empathy and the spread of disinformation, leading to a crisis of spiritual values within society. This research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach. A critical analysis was conducted to examine the role of tahfidzul Qur'an (Qur'an memorization) as a conceptual solution in facing the ethical challenges posed by AI and digitalization. The analysis indicates that tahfidzul Qur'an serves as an effective moral filter. This process is more than just a ritualistic memorization; it deeply instills Qur'anic values such as honesty, patience, and the importance of tabayyun (information verification). These values form an internal ethical fortress that equips individuals to engage with technology wisely and ethically. It is concluded that the most effective solution is not to reject technology but to integrate the spirituality offered by tahfidzul Qur'an with sound digital literacy. This combination can shape a generation that is not only technologically intelligent but also spiritually mature and morally upright, thus capable of utilizing AI for good. This finding provides a foundation for integrating Qur’anic ethics into digital literacy education.

Abstract

Integrating the concept of Islamic Religious Education into the realities of modern life is a crucial area of study. This article aims to examine traditions concerning the relationship between Islamic values, ethics, and the development of science and technology. The research employs a literature-based approach, analyzing traditions related to integrative learning from the perspective of hadith. Integrative learning refers to an educational approach that connects various disciplines into a unified theme or combines one field of knowledge with others in a coherent and comprehensive manner. From the perspective of hadith, this model of learning is not only relevant but also deeply rooted in Islamic teachings. The hadiths examined in this study indicate that Islam promotes holistic models of education that emphasize harmonious relationships between teachers and students, interdisciplinary integration, and the continuity between classical and modern sciences. This demonstrates that Islam is not conservative but rather open and responsive to advancements in general science and technology. Through this approach, integrative learning based on hadith is expected to nurture insan kamil individuals who are intellectually capable, morally upright, spiritually grounded, and able to contribute meaningfully to society.
