Abstract

Vaginal discharge, also known medically as Fluor Albus, is excessive discharge from the vagina. The prevalence of adolescent girls who experience vaginal discharge is still quite high in Indonesia. This may be due to a lack of information about vaginal discharge. Vaginal discharge causes discomfort and has an impact on self-confidence in adolescents. Therefore, the knowledge of adolescents about vaginal discharge is very important to change the attitude and behavior of clean and healthy living. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and vaginal hygiene behavior with the incidence of vaginal discharge. This study was a quantitative study using a cross-sectional analytic survey research design. A sample of 115 people was obtained using the total sampling technique. The total sampling method can reflect the condition of the population accurately and thoroughly. The data collection process used a questionnaire and was analyzed by frequency distribution and chi-square test. It showed that 55.7% of respondents had poor knowledge, 65.2% had poor attitudes, and 64.3% had poor behavior. In the Chi-Square test, it was found that there was a relationship between knowledge, attitude, and vaginal hygiene behavior with the incidence of vaginal discharge at MTs Persis 07 Cempakawarna (p = <0.001). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge, attitude, and vaginal hygiene behavior. Therefore, it is recommended to increase knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of vaginal hygiene to prevent the occurrence of vaginal discharge.

Abstract

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) poses a significant challenge in global TB control, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains resistant to first-line antibiotics isoniazid and rifampicin. According to WHO, an estimated 400,000 MDR-TB cases were reported worldwide in 2024. This literature review aims to analyze socio-demographic, comorbidity, lifestyle, and policy factors influencing MDR-TB occurrence by reviewing 20 studies conducted in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, and America. Employing a meta-analysis approach, the study identifies key risk factors, including medication non-adherence, history of diabetes mellitus (DM) and HIV comorbidities, and productive age. Findings highlight the importance of targeted community interventions, improved treatment adherence, and strengthened TB control programs. Evidence-based policies for early screening and integrated management, as well as adaptive intervention models, are necessary. Further research is recommended to evaluate community-based approaches and digital innovations in enhancing treatment success.

Abstract

Abstract

The Early Warning Scoring System (EWSS) is widely used to detect early deterioration of patients' conditions and support timely clinical escalation. However, its implementation by nurses in various countries still faces a number of obstacles, such as lack of training, limited resources, and negative perceptions of the effectiveness of the system. This article aims to map the challenges faced by nurses in implementing EWSS, both in terms of clinical practice and contextual factors in developed and developing countries. This scoping review follows the framework of Arksey & O'Malley as well as the guidance of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). Searches were conducted on ProQuest, PubMed, Google Scholar, and local repositories (2017–2024, Indonesian and English). Of the 22,103 articles, 24 primary studies with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed designs met the inclusion criteria. The eight main challenges identified include: lack of training and knowledge, low compliance with documentation and escalation, high workload, limited staff, sub-optimal interprofessional communication and collaboration, organizational culture barriers, low self-efficacy of nurses, and lack of digital technology support. These findings provide the basis for policy development and training tailored to the context of individual health services.

Abstract

Postpartum blues was a common mental health issue experienced by mothers after childbirth, characterized by mood swings, feelings of sadness, and depressive symptoms. This study analyzes the influence of hemoglobin (Hb) levels and body mass index (BMI) on the risk of postpartum blues in postpartum mothers. If this condition is not recognized and addressed, it can develop into more severe postpartum depression.  This observational quantitative study was conducted at BPM Ida Susila Lamongan. The population in this study consists of all postpartum mothers who come for a check-up 1–2 weeks after delivery. The sample consists of 30 individuals selected using a purposive sampling technique. Inclusion criteria include postpartum mothers with a term pregnancy (≥37 weeks), spontaneous delivery, no history of mental disorders, and willingness to participate as respondents. Exclusion criteria include mothers who are currently using psychotropic drugs or have severe medical complications. Data were collected through the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) questionnaire and patient medical records, including Hb levels and BMI. Results: Pearson correlation showed a strong negative relationship between Hb levels and EPDS scores (r = -0.781, p < 0.05). Linear regression indicated that Hb and BMI significantly affect EPDS scores, with Hb having a greater influence. Pearson correlation between BMI and EPDS showed a moderate positive relationship (r = 0.573, p < 0.05). Conclusion: Low Hb levels and high BMI are risk factors for postpartum blues. This study emphasizes the importance of maintaining healthy Hb and BMI levels to prevent postpartum blues.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic disease that requires long-term management. The use of medicinal plants as complementary therapy is increasingly recognized, although scientific evidence remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of amlodipine with concomitant herbal therapy (bay leaves, celery, and/or cucumber) compared with amlodipine monotherapy in hypertensive patients. A retrospective cohort design was employed using medical record data and patient questionnaires from three community health centers in Surakarta. Treatment effectiveness was measured by the achievement of the target blood pressure over three months. Data were analyzed using bivariate tests and multivariate logistic regression. The results showed that clinical effectiveness was higher in the amlodipine group with concomitant herbal therapy (bay leaves, celery, and/or cucumber) at 78.4% compared to amlodipine monotherapy at 68.8%, although the difference was not statistically significant (p=0.160). Factors significantly associated with treatment effectiveness were medication adherence (p<0.001), baseline systolic blood pressure (p<0,001), and educational level (p=0,047). Concomitant herbal therapy with amlodipine showed potential blood pressure–lowering effects, though not statistically significant. Prospective studies or clinical trials are warranted to further assess the benefits and safety of this therapeutic approach.

Abstract

Nursing care documentation is an essential component of healthcare, functioning as both a communication tool among professionals and as legal evidence of nursing practice. Its completeness directly impacts patient safety, service quality, and continuity of care. This scoping review aimed to map internal and external factors influencing the completeness of nursing documentation in inpatient settings and to identify strategies for improving compliance. The review followed the PRISMA framework. Literature searches were conducted in Scopus (n=85), PubMed (n=125), and ProQuest (n=90), yielding 300 articles. After removing duplicates (n=60), automated screening (n=30), and excluding incomplete or irrelevant articles (n=30), 45 were assessed for eligibility. A total of 15 articles met the inclusion criteria (published within the last five years, in English or Indonesian, and relevant to documentation compliance) and were narratively analyzed. Findings showed nursing documentation compliance ranged from 60–80%. Internal factors included educational background, work experience, knowledge, attitudes, and motivation. External factors comprised head nurse supervision, workload, ongoing training, and support from information technology. Effective strategies to enhance documentation included structured supervision, proportional workload distribution, continuous training, and user-friendly electronic documentation systems with clear guidelines. In conclusion, improving the completeness of nursing care documentation requires not only individual effort but also systemic support. Optimizing staffing according to ward capacity and adopting integrated electronic systems can strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and consistency, thereby ensuring high-quality nursing care.

Abstract

Obesity is a growing global health concern, with a significantly increasing prevalence in Indonesia. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) has emerged as an efficient exercise method for weight reduction and the improvement of metabolic health. This scoping review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of HIIT in reducing body weight among individuals who are overweight or obese. Literature searches were conducted across five major databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, ProQuest, and EBSCO), yielding 20 interventional studies involving a total of 1,184 participants. The synthesized findings indicate that HIIT significantly reduces body fat mass, improves VO₂max, enhances body mass index (BMI), and improves the fat-free mass-to-fat ratio. Effective HIIT protocols typically range between 80% and 95% of VO₂max, with session durations of 10–45 minutes, and are performed 2–5 times per week. In addition to its metabolic benefits, HIIT demonstrates higher adherence rates due to its time efficiency and intensity. However, the heterogeneity of protocols, such as differences in frequency, intensity, and sample characteristics, as well as interindividual variability, limits the generalizability of the results. HIIT is recommended as a non-pharmacological exercise strategy for weight management and the prevention of metabolic diseases, with potential for broad application when individualised based on intensity, frequency, and health status.
