Abstract

This study is motivated by the suboptimal harmonization of religious education and general education in Islamic boarding schools due to differences in curriculum management patterns between traditional and modern Islamic boarding schools, as well as the limited comparative studies that discuss this issue in depth. This study aims to analyze curriculum management in traditional and modern Islamic boarding schools in West Java in integrating religious education and general education. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design in one traditional and one modern Islamic boarding school selected purposively. Data were obtained from seven key informants selected purposively, consisting of four informants in the Y modern Islamic boarding school and three informants in the X traditional Islamic boarding school, through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. Data validity was maintained through triangulation of sources and techniques. Data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results show that traditional Islamic boarding schools implement curriculum management based on values, exemplary behavior, and personal relationships with a pattern of cultural and flexible integration, while modern Islamic boarding schools implement structured, professional, and integrative curriculum management through a formal institutional system and student competency standards. This research contributes by offering a typology of Islamic boarding school curriculum integration as well as a hybrid curriculum management model that combines the strengths of traditional and modern approaches to support the sustainability of Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test a structural model connecting instructional leadership, quality assurance, and biology teacher performance within environmental education. The study uses a quantitative explanatory design with structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze relationships among variables. Data were gathered from 126 biology teachers at public and private high schools in Cilegon City via a Likert-scale questionnaire. Results indicate that instructional leadership positively and significantly influences mutual assurance of learning, thereby enhancing teacher performance. Mutual assurance partially mediates the relationship between instructional leadership and teacher performance. These findings validate that strong leadership bolsters a sustainable quality assurance system, which is vital to the quality of environmental-based learning. The study offers practical guidance for teacher-training policy development and quality-system enhancement in schools, while inviting further, deeper research into the drivers of environmental education implementation.

Abstract

Schools located in disaster-prone areas face substantial risks to the safety of school communities and the continuity of learning processes, requiring systematic and well-planned management to enhance preparedness. This study aimed to develop a disaster-safe school management model to improve school preparedness in accordance with the School-Based Disaster Preparedness Program (Satuan Pendidikan Aman Bencana/SPAB). This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach encompassing needs analysis, product design and development, expert validation, revision, and limited field testing. The research subjects included school principals, teachers, and educational staff from disaster-prone areas. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis and analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive techniques. The findings indicate that disaster preparedness management has not been fully integrated into educational management functions, particularly in planning, implementation, and evaluation. The developed model covers four key areas: facilities and infrastructure, curriculum, financial management, and human resources. Expert and practitioner evaluations confirmed that the model is feasible and has the potential to enhance school preparedness. Therefore, this model may serve as a practical reference for strengthening SPAB implementation in disaster-prone educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Teaching Factory management using a Deep Learning approach in improving student competency at SMKN 1 Cangkringan. This study aims to describe the application of Teaching Factory management functions, analyze the effectiveness of integrating the Deep Learning approach in Teaching Factory learning, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors in improving student competencies, including hard skills, soft skills, and life skills. The background of this research is the demand for vocational education to produce competent, adaptive graduates who are in line with the needs of the business world, industry, and the world of work (DUDIKA). This study used a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The study was conducted at SMKN 1 Cangkringan. The research subjects included the Principal, Vice Principal for Curriculum, Head of the APHP Vocational Program, APHP Productive Teachers, APHP Students, and DUDIKA Partners. The data sources consisted of primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Research instruments included interview guidelines, observation guidelines, and documentation study lists. Data analysis techniques used the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was tested using source triangulation and techniques. The results of the study show that SMKN 1 Cangkringan has integrated Teaching Factory management through management functions, namely planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. The Deep Learning approach contributes to creating meaningful, conscious, and contextual learning with the principles of mindful, meaningful, and joyful learning, which is effective in improving student competence. Supporting factors include the commitment of the principal, teacher competence, DUDIKA support, and vocational education policies, while inhibiting factors include differences in student readiness and limitations in certain infrastructure. This study concludes that Teaching Factory Management with a Deep Learning approach is a relevant and effective vocational learning model, and it is recommended to be developed continuously through strengthening management and industry partnerships.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the Lokal Batik Excellence-Based Education Program at SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja using the CIPP model. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The subjects of this study were the vice principal for curriculum, PKWU teachers, PBKL staff, and students. The results of the Context evaluation showed a shift in objectives from cultural preservation to a focus on education and entrepreneurship based on contextual dynamics that were also undergoing change. In the Input component, there were changes in staff arrangements and operational budgets, which were originally funded by the local government but now come entirely from Bos funds. The Process evaluation shows that PBKL Bati reached its peak of success in the second period through batik cloth production and public education services. The Product component saw a significant increase in program results and achievements, but experienced a decline at the end of the third period. Based on the CIPP evaluation, it was concluded that changes in activities, operational scale, and results in each period were influenced by the development of objectives, policy changes, staff arrangements, and funding.

Abstract

: Online learning, especially distance education, aims to provide broader opportunities for the community to pursue higher education. Although the quality standards for the implementation of distance education are the same as the curriculum of the organizing study programs, there is still debate over whether the learning outcomes and the quality of graduates are the same as regular study programs, considering that all learning activities are conducted online. The research aims to obtain empirical evidence of the role of self-efficacy and student engagement on learning outcomes in the implementation of distance learning, as well as to analyze the role of student engagement as a mediator of the influence of self-efficacy on learning outcomes. The research uses a quantitative method with a survey on active students of the distance learning management master's program at Universitas Ciputra Surabaya. Data were collected using an online questionnaire, and the data were analyzed with PLS-SEM. The research results revealed that learning outcomes in the implementation of distance learning are determined by self-efficacy and student engagement. Self-efficacy not only has a direct impact on learning outcomes but also enhances student engagement, which in turn contributes to learning outcomes. The research is relevant to the Social Cognitive Theory, which posits that individual behavior is the result of the interaction between personal factors, behavior, and the environment. Additionally, the research has implications for the importance of increasing student engagement in the online learning process, starting from curriculum design, semester learning plans, and learning activities.

Abstract

Teacher performance is an important factor in determining the quality of learning processes and outcomes in schools, which is not only influenced by pedagogic and professional competence, but also by internal factors such as emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence. This study aims to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence with the performance of State Madrasah teachers in Bukittinggi City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method, with the population of all Madrasah teachers in Bukittinggi City and samples taken through stratified random sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, while data analysis was carried out through various relevant statistical tests. The results showed that emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence each had a positive and significant relationship with teacher performance, and together showed a strong relationship with teacher performance. These findings also indicate that spiritual intelligence has a more dominant role than emotional intelligence in improving teacher performance. Therefore, the development of emotional and spiritual intelligence needs to be a concern in an effort to improve the quality of teacher performance in the madrasah environment.

Abstract

This study explores the role of the madrasah principal in strengthening school branding at MIN 12 Nagan Raya through strategic programs aimed at improving educational quality. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected via observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and parents. Findings reveal that the principal plays a crucial role in four areas: managing information media, enhancing teacher competencies, strengthening students’ remedial literacy, and fostering extracurricular activities. Although the madrasah lacks an official social media account, information management through the website is effectively handled by public relations staff under the principal’s guidance. Teacher competency development positively impacts learning quality, while student skill programs and extracurricular activities enhance achievements and build a positive institutional image. Strengthening branding is achieved through concrete initiatives that elevate overall educational standards. Theoretically, the study emphasizes that branding extends beyond promotional strategies to encompass comprehensive educational programs. Practically, the principal’s leadership integrates institutional development efforts, supported by collaboration among teachers, students, and parents. The findings highlight that effective leadership is a key factor in cultivating a strong, competitive institutional image and ensuring sustainable reputation and community trust.
