Abstract

Paramitra Foundation manages a guest-house service business and is seeking to expand its business model through product and service diversification. The main problem faced by the partner is the absence of a structured business model that integrates customer segments, value propositions, communication channels, revenue streams, resources, activities, partnerships, and cost structure. This gap has limited the partner’s ability to systematically identify business development opportunities and strengthen financial sustainability. This community service activity aimed to assist Paramitra Foundation in developing a Business Model Canvas (BMC) and formulating development strategies based on SWOT analysis. The activity was conducted on 24 October 2023 in Paramitra Foundation and involved 8 participants consisting of the foundation’s management and staff. The method included problem identification through interviews and direct observation, mapping of the nine BMC blocks, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), training and assistance, SWOT analysis, and outcome evaluation. The results show that all nine BMC blocks were successfully mapped and generated four strategic alternatives: SO, WO, ST, and WT. The prioritized strategy was the Weakness–Opportunities (WO) strategy, particularly through strengthening digital communication channels, diversifying funding sources, developing partnerships, and improving value propositions for beneficiaries. Measurable outputs included one completed BMC map covering nine blocks and one SWOT strategy matrix containing four strategic alternatives. The activity also generated a shared commitment to periodically evaluate the business model. Therefore, BMC can serve as a practical planning tool to clarify the foundation’s business model and support more focused and sustainable business development

Abstract

The Makroman Urban Village Office in Samarinda City serves a strategic role as a center for public services and a space for community interaction at the local level. However, the existing building faces several challenges, including limited space, physical deterioration, and the lack of architectural identity representing East Kalimantan. This community service activity aims to redesign the Makroman Urban Village Office using a neo-vernacular architectural approach that emphasizes Dayak Kenyah cultural values as a form of local identity. The implementation employed a participatory design method involving local government officers, community members, lecturers, and architecture students from Politeknik Negeri Samarinda (POLNES) through three main stages: (1) community needs assessment, (2) conceptual design development, and (3) presentation and submission of the proposed design document. The project resulted in a conceptual design consisting of 2D drawings and 3D visualizations. The proposed building features a linear spatial organization, dual building masses, and integrates local architectural elements such as high gable roofs and Dayak ornaments like hornbill and shield motifs as cultural symbols. The design accommodates the functional needs of public service spaces, improves user circulation, and enhances local identity in the architectural character. The resulting design document is expected to serve as a reference for the government in reconstructing a more representative, inclusive, and culturally embedded public office. This activity demonstrates that participatory design and neo-vernacular architecture can serve as effective strategies for creating functional public facilities while strengthening regional cultural identity

Abstract

Dementia is a growing public health concern due to the increasing aging population worldwide. Cognitive decline negatively affects older adults' quality of life, increases dependency, and places substantial burdens on families and healthcare systems. Health promotion and preventive strategies are essential through health education, cognitive stimulation, and early cognitive screening. This community service program aimed to improve older adults' knowledge regarding dementia prevention while conducting early cognitive function screening. The activity involved 87 older adults from Sekolah Lansia Juara, Burangrang Village, and Sekolah Lansia Laskar Semangat, Cibeunying Kidul District, West Java. The intervention consisted of health education, brain exercise demonstrations, educational games, and cognitive screening. Participants actively engaged throughout the educational sessions supported by audiovisual media and printed leaflets. Brain exercises and educational games enhanced participation and learning motivation. Screening results indicated that 55 participants had normal cognitive function, while 39 participants showed signs of cognitive impairment requiring further assessment. This integrated approach demonstrates that combining health education, cognitive stimulation, educational games, and simple cognitive screening represents an effective community-based strategy for dementia prevention and early detection among older adults.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the visual communication skills of the South Tambun Waste Bank Forum through training on creating creative presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. This topic was chosen because most waste bank managers still face limitations in designing engaging and systematic presentations, have minimal understanding of visual design principles, and lack confidence in delivering materials in public. The implementation method adopted a participatory-educative approach, involving needs assessment, material design, training delivery (attended by 31 participants), and evaluation through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed a substantial improvement in participants' understanding of basic PowerPoint functions, with the percentage in the "good" category increasing from 18% to 33%. Confidence in creating and delivering presentations also improved, with 58% of participants reporting higher confidence after training. Outputs of the program included reusable presentation templates and environmental campaign materials. In the future, this training model has strong potential to be replicated in other environmental communities or MSMEs

Abstract

The development of digitalization requires student entrepreneurs and business owners to have the skills to produce creative content that supports business promotion. Unfortunately, limited graphic design knowledge is often a major obstacle to optimal use of digital media. This community service activity is designed to improve the skills of student entrepreneurs and business owners in Palu City in designing digital content using Canva and utilizing supporting tools such as Remove.bg, Freepik, and CapCut. The implementation method includes socialization, practical workshops, and mentoring. The socialization focused on the importance of digital literacy and business branding, while the workshop emphasized technical skills through direct practice, and mentoring was provided so that participants were able to apply designs according to business needs. Evaluation was carried out using pre-tests, post-tests, and assessments of participants' work. The results of the activity showed a considerable descriptive increase in skills, where 80% of participants were able to create simple promotional posters independently, 75% successfully integrated supporting visual elements, and 70% began implementing the design results on their business social media. With these achievements, this activity makes a real contribution to improving digital literacy, creativity, and the competitiveness of student entrepreneurs and local business owners in the digital economy era

Abstract

Digital-era human resources require not only knowledge and skills relevant to their areas of expertise but also soft skills, one of which is creativity, which plays an important role in problem-solving and increasing work productivity. SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Sleman seeks to equip students with competencies that meet the needs of the business and industrial sectors (DuDi); however, it still faces challenges in utilizing technology to enhance creativity. Augmented Reality (AR) is a promising technology, but its utilization remains limited due to teachers' and students' insufficient understanding of the technology. Therefore, AR training was conducted involving 10 teachers and 35 students. The results showed that the training was implemented very smoothly, improved participants' understanding and creativity in utilizing AR technology, and increased the assessment scores from 7.86 to 9.5, as well as participants' ability to create AR content. User satisfaction evaluation also showed highly satisfactory results

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders among occupations involving static activities, including teaching professionals. Non-ergonomic work habits such as prolonged standing or sitting, bending while teaching, and lack of physical activity increase the risk of LBP. Limited knowledge of LBP prevention often leads to neglect of symptoms, which may decrease work productivity and teaching performance. This community service program aimed to increase teachers’ knowledge regarding LBP prevention through health education and early risk detection. The program was conducted in June 2023 at SDIT, SMP, and SMK Putra Pakuan as well as SMP Negeri 2 Sukaraja in Bogor Regency, involving 92 teachers. The implementation methods included initial screening using Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), pre-test, health education using integrated media (PowerPoint-assisted lectures, educational leaflets, group discussions, and question-and-answer sessions), post-test, and individual health consultations. Screening results showed that 34.78% of participants experienced LBP-related complaints. A total of 53 participants completed both pre-test and post-test instruments, demonstrating an increase in mean knowledge scores from 35.38 to 57.78. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test revealed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.05), with r value of 0.68, indicating a strong intervention effect. This program effectively improved teachers’ knowledge and awareness of LBP prevention. The integrated educational model is feasible to be applied sustainably in school environments as part of occupational health promotion.

Abstract

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook is a standard guideline established by the Indonesian government and used by midwives, health workers, community health workers, and parents to monitor the growth and development of toddlers. However, challenges persist in its implementation, including a lack of parental understanding, inconsistent record-keeping, and low health worker outreach in some areas. Based on observations at the Mawar 3 Integrated Service Center (Posyandu) in Gedong Village, East Jakarta, the development monitoring sheet in the MCH handbook was not completed due to staff time constraints and limited knowledge of toddler development monitoring. This lack of community understanding regarding stimulation and monitoring toddler development risks missing developmental delays in children. The purpose of this community service activity is to assist Posyandu cadres in monitoring toddler development and to raise community awareness about independently monitoring toddler development using the MCH handbook. The methods used were: (1) Brainstorming with cadres regarding the use of the MCH book, specifically for stimulating and monitoring toddler development. (2) Creating media for outreach in the form of leaflets and educational videos, which will then be given to cadres to facilitate their outreach. (3) Training of Posyandu cadres on how to fill in toddler development in the KIA book. (4) Counseling and simulation of toddler development monitoring for mothers/caregivers of toddlers so that they can monitor toddler development based on the MCH book independently. The results of community service include increased skills among the cadre, enhanced knowledge and skills among mothers/caregivers, and the availability of educational materials, such as leaflets and videos, on monitoring toddler development using the MCH book. Suggestions: Monitoring toddler development is carried out consistently across age stages, both by cadres and independently by toddlers' mothers/caregivers

Abstract

Kalentambo Village is a village with significant rice farming potential. Currently, Kalentambo Village serves as a buffer zone for the Patimban port industrial area, which has resulted in significant changes in village conditions. Under these conditions, Kalentambo Village requires identification of potential and problems to support regional development planning that is appropriate to the conditions of the Kalentambo Village community. The purpose of this Community Service Program (PKM) activity is to identify potential and problems in the Kalentambo Village area. On July 12, 2025, a village planning development was carried out using a participatory planning approach and participatory mapping, attended by nearly 50 residents. This activity included three main stages: FGDs and interviews, field observations, and analysis. From this series of activities, three things were produced: a hamlet boundary map, a list of potential and problems, and community aspirations. From the results of this community-based planning, it was revealed that Kalentambo Village was prioritized to maintain its agricultural area and also sought to seize opportunities as a buffer zone for the Patimban port industrial area
