Abstract

This study aims to analyze the innovation strategies of private Madrasah Aliyah principals in realizing sustainable education. The study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to understand the experiences and leadership practices of madrasah principals in designing and implementing educational innovations. The research was conducted at three private Islamic high schools, namely MAS Nurul Huda Sukaraja, MAS Al-Ikhlas Pametung Basuki, and MAS YPI Sumberharjo in Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, South Sumatra Province, which were selected purposively based on the sustainability of innovation programs and the active involvement of madrasah principals in policy-making. The research data consisted of the innovation strategies of private Madrasah Aliyah principals in realizing sustainable education, which included academic innovation, religious innovation, and vocational innovation, as well as the leadership experiences of madrasah principals in designing and implementing these strategies. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies, and then analyzed thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the madrasah principals' innovation strategies were developed through three main orientations, namely academic innovation, religious innovation, and vocational innovation. Academic innovation focuses on improving the quality of learning and the continuity of graduates' studies to higher education, religious innovation is directed at strengthening Islamic values and the social role of alumni, while vocational innovation emphasizes the development of life skills to increase the independence and competitiveness of graduates in the world of work. These three strategies are implemented contextually in accordance with the characteristics of the madrasah and the needs of the environment. This study concludes that the innovation strategies of private Madrasah Aliyah principals contribute significantly to the realization of sustainable education, thus emphasizing the importance of innovative leadership in the development of Islamic education that is adaptive and relevant to the demands of the times.

Abstract

e aim of this study is to identify the digital marketing strategies implemented by Al Azhar Balikpapan and Al Mazaya Paser and to assess their effectiveness in strengthening institutional visibility and trust. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method using a multisite design, supported by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. Involving Kiai, public relations managers, and social media administrators as primary data sources, while secondary data were obtained from institutional documents, digital content of the boarding schools, and scholarly literature relevant to digital marketing in Islamic education. Data validation was conducted through source and technique triangulation. This study employs the Miles and Huberman qualitative data analysis model, which consists of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. Findings reveal the formulation of a Parent-Based Digital Trust Marketing (PDTM) model grounded in the principle of khidmah, emphasizing parental trust, satisfaction, and engagement as the primary social proof. The model operates through Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, official websites, and WhatsApp, utilizing educational content, activity visuals, and authentic testimonials. The strategy enhances digital visibility, builds a modern-Islamic institutional image, and effectively reaches prospective students beyond Kalimantan. Practical applications of this study include digital marketing for Islamic education, branding in faith-based institutions, and trust-based communication strategies. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of parental trust as the core driver of digital marketing effectiveness in pesantren, producing a culturally grounded model aligned with Islamic educational values. The study concludes that optimizing parental trust significantly strengthens digital marketing performance in modern Islamic boarding schools during the ongoing digital transformation in education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic Scaffolding within the REFLECT model (Review, Engage, Focus, Learn, Evaluate, Construct, and Transfer) in fostering students’ reflective and spiritual understanding in Akidah Akhlak learning. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive–interpretative approach using a case study design conducted in the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education (PGMI) Study Program at STAIN Teungku Dirundeng Meulaboh. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with lecturers and students, and analysis of learning documents. The participants consisted of lecturers teaching Akidah Akhlak courses and PGMI students actively engaged in the learning process. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis through processes of data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and meaning construction. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic Scaffolding within the REFLECT model facilitates a reflective, collaborative, and transformative learning environment, in which lecturers function as spiritual scaffolders guiding students through processes of muhasabah and tazakkur. This study contributes to the enrichment of scaffolding theory by incorporating the dimensions of ta’dib and tazkiyatun nafs, positioning the model as a holistic Islamic learning paradigm oriented toward the development of spiritually aware, reflective, and morally grounded students.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of right speech and compassion communication on organizational commitment, with mindfulness serving as a mediating variable, within the Guang Ji Indonesian Buddhist Council (MABGI), North Sumatra Province. The research employed a quantitative explanatory design. The research population consisted of administrators and active members of MABGI who are directly involved in organizational activities. Using a purposive sampling technique, a sample of 170 respondents was selected based on their level of participation in organizational programs. The study utilized primary data, collected through a structured questionnaire distributed directly to respondents. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that right speech and compassion communication have positive and significant effects on mindfulness and organizational commitment. Furthermore, mindfulness positively influences organizational commitment and partially mediates the relationships between both right speech and organizational commitment, as well as compassion communication and organizational commitment. These findings suggest that communication practices grounded in ethical values and compassion enhance organizational commitment both directly and indirectly through increased mindful awareness. The study contributes theoretically by integrating the concept of right speech from Buddhist teachings into the fields of organizational communication and human resource management, while highlighting mindfulness as a key psychological mechanism in value-based non-profit organizations. Practically, the findings provide insights for Buddhist religious organizations in developing ethical, empathetic, and mindful communication practices to strengthen sustainable member commitment.

Abstract

This research aims to formulate a conceptual framework for the development of Islamic education teaching materials based on scientific integration in the context of non-formal Islamic education (majelis taklim). The research uses a qualitative approach through literature studies as the main data source, complemented by limited non-participatory observations as contextual supporting data. The data were analyzed descriptive-analytically through thematic categorization and conceptual synthesis. Literature synthesis shows that scientific integration has implications for strengthening conceptual understanding as well as opportunities for developing students' reflective and critical thinking skills. The research output is in the form of integrative teaching material design principles which include relevance, comprehensiveness, integrability, contextuality, and applicability. Integration is positioned as a reconstruction of the relationship between revelation, reason, and reality that enriches the understanding of Islam and strengthens the internalization of Islamic values in modern life. This conceptual framework is expected to be a reference for educators and curriculum developers in designing contextual and integrative Islamic education teaching materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of public relations (PR) as a liaison in increasing prospective students' interest in choosing Islamic boarding schools at Pondok Pesantren Al Mujtama' Al Islami, Al Ishlah, and Al Huda. The research employed a qualitative approach with a multisite research design conducted at the three Islamic boarding schools through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation analysis. Informants included kiai, Islamic boarding school leaders, public relations managers, teachers, parents, and alumni, while data collection techniques consisted of observation, semi-structured interviews, and document review. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman's interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that public relations management in the three Islamic boarding schools is implemented through diverse approaches, ranging from structured and program-based communication strategies to traditional interpersonal practices rooted in religious values and community trust. The public relations function serves as a strategic communication bridge between Islamic boarding schools and society through socialization activities, alumni networks, community engagement, and limited use of digital media. These practices contribute to the formation of institutional image and the strengthening of public trust, which subsequently influences prospective students' interests. Challenges identified include limited professional human resources, low levels of digital literacy, and constraints in optimizing modern communication media.

Abstract

This study formulates a theoretical model based on field experience to integrate Bugis Makassar local wisdom into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at IAIN Parepare. Although international literature highlights the importance of culturally relevant pedagogy, the integration of local cultural values in PAI is still fragmentary, dependent on lecturers, and not yet sufficiently institutionalized. Using a qualitative design based on principles of theory grounded in field experience, data were collected through in-depth interviews with IAIN Parepare Islamic Religious Education lecturers, curriculum managers, and students, supported by classroom observations and analysis of curriculum documents and Semester Learning Plans. Data analysis used constant comparison methods through open, axial, and selective coding repeatedly. Open coding identified concepts that emerged from empirical data. Axial coding mapped the relationships between conditions, practices, and consequences, while selective coding integrated core categories into an explanatory framework verified through cross-case comparisons. The findings reveal three interconnected processes: context recognition, which acknowledges siri’, pacce, getteng, and lempu’ as ethical capital in line with Islamic principles. Its pedagogical application, operationalized through contextual pedagogy, culture-based assignments, local narratives, role models, and institutional reconfiguration, ensures sustainability through policy alignment and academic culture strengthening. Systemic integration enhances curriculum relevance while reinforcing students' religious and cultural identities.
