Abstract

Homeschooling as an alternative form of education is growing and gaining popularity worldwide, particularly in response to the changing needs of modern society, which demands a more personalized, flexible, and individual-centered education. The final section of the paper will provide an alternative curriculum deemed appropriate to these needs. The advantages and challenges faced in implementing a homeschool curriculum will be outlined, as well as its relevance in the context of future education that is more oriented towards personal development and student needs. Furthermore, digital educational technologies and resources will further enhance the effectiveness of homeschooling as an innovative educational alternative.

Abstract

Cultural heritage village conservation has generally been considered a means for cultural identity sustainability and promoting sustainable development in highly valued historical areas. Thus, this paper assesses how critical reflection, and empowerment evaluation can support the sustainable development of the Seribu Rumah Gadang, a West Sumatra, Indonesia, and cultural heritage village. Using a mixed-method strategy, the study looks at how community engagement works for heritage conservation through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, empowerment evaluation workshops, and reflective critical sessions. Results show an apparent conflict between cultural preservation and economic growth, with community-based initiatives able to resolve this interesting conflict more successfully. The research highlights the role of empowerment evaluation in increasing the relevance and sustainability of projects and points out the critical role of continuous reflection in adjusting the strategy in response to changing community needs and requirements. The study discusses implications for empowerment evaluation by suggesting ways to strengthen community engagement, improve access to resources, and promote more inclusive tourism practices that do not contradict cultural values. Therefore, this research contributes to continuing the debate on environmental sustainability in cultural heritage sites and bringing new insights to policy-makers, practitioners, and researchers.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal's controlling function towards the use of learning media in supporting lifelong learning at SMPN 5 Bukit Tambun, Anambas Islands Regency. The background of this study is based on the importance of the principal's role as a controller of learning management who ensures that media is used effectively, innovatively, and in accordance with the needs of students in the digital era, while also facing geographical challenges and limited facilities in the archipelago region. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, which are then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the discussion indicate that the principal's controlling function includes three important aspects: first, the principal's role in controlling the use of learning media through supervision, coaching, and evaluation; second, the effectiveness of the use of learning media in increasing motivation, understanding concepts, and supporting the principles of lifelong learning; and third, challenges faced such as limited infrastructure, teacher capabilities, and geographical barriers, which are overcome through strategies to improve teacher competency, routine monitoring, optimization of simple media, and collaboration with external parties. Thus, this study confirms that the principal's controlling function is not only as a supervisory instrument, but also as a key factor in realizing lifelong learning in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the economic resilience strategies of visually impaired families in rural Grobogan Regency, Indonesia, who face the challenges of social exclusion and limited accessibility. The method used is a qualitative approach of a case study wi th a purposive sample consisting of 10 visually impaired families who are actively involved in daily economic activities. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that social stigma against people with disabilities is the main obstacle to their participation in economic and social activities. Discrimination in employment opportunities and limited access to education and public services also exacerbate their economic resilience. Nonetheless, rural blind families show resilience through adaptation strategies, such as working in the informal sector, opening home businesses, and leveraging social support from extended families and communities. This research provides new insights into the importance of creating an inclusive social environment and policies that support accessibility for people with disabilities, in order to improve their economic resilience. These findings can also serve as a reference for the government and the community in designing more inclusive empowerment policies.

Abstract

This article examines homeschooling as an alternative model of moral education for children in the midst of the digital disruption era and moral degradation. The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced children’s behavior, communication, and moral values. Traditional schools often struggle to provide a balanced response to these challenges, while homeschooling offers a more personal and value-based approach. This study employs a qualitative literature review by analyzing relevant journals, books, and reports from both national and international sources. The findings reveal that homeschooling not only strengthens academic knowledge but also fosters moral resilience, character formation, and parental involvement as the primary agents of education. This study contributes to the discourse on appropriate educational alternatives to address moral decline in the digital.

Abstract

The educational activities aimed at tourists and the community in the “Trisik Release Tukik” event broadly aim to introduce a spatial approach to disaster mitigation and environmental conservation education based on local wisdom to tourists visiting Trisik Beach. The activities, which were carried out from July to August, involved the community and stakeholders, including community organizations such as Pokdarwis Banaran. The methods used were qualitative, with traditional lectures supported by visual media and presentations accompanied by narratives of local wisdom. The activities took place in a fun and educational atmosphere, accompanied by question and answer sessions and interactive discussions. The results of the study show that the educational process carried out to build high awareness and understanding in all aspects, especially in applying knowledge in the context of real life to the environment, is a form that must be applied sustainably. The spatial approach makes it easier for visitors to understand locations that are prone to natural disasters and require regular management. Meanwhile, local values strengthen the relationship between visitors and the local social and cultural environment. The non-formal educational approach is a simple, adaptive, and implementable measure in every coastal tourist area by optimizing the use of technology. These findings fully support the effectiveness of the spatial-cultural approach as a relevant, grounded, and widely replicable model for achieving the goals of disaster mitigation education and environmental conservation in other areas with similar tourist attraction characteristics.
