Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are a horticultural commodity that is highly susceptible to post-harvest damage due to their high moisture content. One effective method to extend the shelf life of shallots is through drying. This study aims to optimize the drying process of shallots using a food dehydrator at various drying temperatures (40°C, 50°C, and 60°C). The optimization was conducted by evaluating parameters such as moisture content, color, texture, flavonoid content, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity. In addition, drying characteristics and drying rates, thin-layer drying models, rehydration ratios, and color changes were also analyzed to determine the optimal temperature for the dehydration process. The research methodology involved the following steps: (1) Preparation of materials and equipment, (2) Drying of shallots at 40°C, 50°C, and 60°C and analysis of moisture content, color, texture, flavonoid content, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity, and (3) Statistical analysis of the data to determine the optimal drying temperature for maintaining shallot quality. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations for effective drying parameters to maintain post-harvest shallot quality and to improve storage and distribution efficiency.

Abstract

Level crossing safety has become a critical issue in urban transportation systems, as these points serve as direct intersections between railway lines and road users. Amidst the high volume of daily mobility, level crossings not only contribute to traffic congestion but also pose a high risk of fatal accidents, especially when not supported by effective safety systems and disciplined user behavior. A clear example of this issue can be seen at the Direct Level Crossing (JPL) No. 46 Pondok Jati in East Jakarta, which is characterized by high traffic density, limited space, and frequent violations by road users. This study aims to analyze the mediating role of road user discipline in the relationship between the functionality of safety equipment and the competence of crossing guards on level crossing safety in 2025. A quantitative approach was used with Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) and 333 respondents. The analysis tested both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The results show that the competence of crossing guards significantly influences both safety and user discipline. Discipline also plays a significant role in improving safety. Conversely, the functionality of safety equipment did not show a significant direct influence on discipline. Discipline was found to mediate the relationship between guard competence and safety, but not between equipment functionality and safety.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of purchase decisions for PUBG Mobile skins among Generation Z, focusing on the roles of user experience, scarcity, and gamification, with perceived value as a moderating variable. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 220 respondents through an online survey and analyzed with SmartPLS 4.0. The results demonstrate that user experience, scarcity, and gamification each have a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions. Specifically, higher user experience, increased scarcity of skins, and stronger gamification features significantly encourage players to make purchasing decisions. In addition, the findings reveal that perceived value successfully moderates the relationships between user experience, scarcity, and gamification with purchase decisions. When players perceive greater value in the skins offered, the influence of these three variables on purchase decisions is further strengthened. This highlights that perceived value not only acts as an independent factor but also enhances the impact of other determinants in shaping consumer behavior. Overall, the study contributes to the understanding of digital consumer behavior, especially within the mobile gaming industry. The implications suggest that developers and marketers should emphasize optimizing user experience, designing scarcity strategies, and implementing engaging gamification features while enhancing the perceived value to maximize in-game purchases.

Abstract

This research investigates operational challenges in the mining industry, specifically the weighing and documentation of coal shipments at PT XYZ. The process previously relied on manual data entry across three separate systems, resulting in recurring problems of data inaccuracy, process inefficiency, and excessive workload that disrupted operations and delayed managerial decision-making. The study aims to analyze the root causes of these issues, design a practical solution, and evaluate its impact. A mixed-method approach was applied, combining interviews, field observations, and quantitative measures such as error rates, process cycle efficiency, and Full-Time Equivalent calculations. The proposed solution, designed through a user-centered design framework, introduced automation via RFID-based dump truck identification, automatic generation of delivery documents, and integration of weighbridge data across internal and external applications. Implementation reduced errors by 86%, improved efficiency more than fourfold, and decreased workload by 80%, allowing a single operator to manage the process effectively. The findings confirm that automation and system integration significantly improve the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of coal shipment documentation, demonstrating how digital interventions can enhance both operational performance and strategic decision-making in mining logistics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the quality of health services in the intra-hospital patient transfer process at RSUD Limpung based on the theory of Zeithaml, Parasuraman, and Berry (tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy). The background of the study was based on the obstacles in the delay of operation registration, limited human resources in the Central Surgical Installation, and poor communication between units in the process of intra-hospital patient transfer. The method used was descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling technique, involving the doctor in charge, emergency room nurse, head of the room, administrative officer, and family of BPJS PBI and non-PBI patients. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analysed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that patient transfer services at RSUD Limpung were considered good in the aspects of responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, but there were still obstacles in tangibles and reliability, with the novelty of this research lies in the focus of the study of the intra-hospital patient transfer process, especially BPJS patients (PBI and non-PBI), which is still rarely studied. So it is necessary to strengthen coordination between units to ensure more efficient and effective service quality

Abstract

Turn Around activities in the oil and gas industry involve the mobilization of thousands of temporary contract workers with non-technical backgrounds who face extreme and risky working environments, creating a high potential for work accidents that threaten lives and the operational sustainability of strategic national refineries. This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment, occupational safety and health (OSH) training, work experience, and education level on work accidents, considering the mediating role of unsafe actions as manifestations of risky behavior that directly trigger incidents. An explanatory quantitative approach was applied through Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares, involving 242 Turn Around worker respondents to test a complex structural model. The results reveal significant findings where unsafe actions are proven to be the dominant predictor of workplace accidents, while work experience actually increases the risk of accidents both directly and through the mediation of unsafe actions due to the phenomena of overconfidence and complacency. OSH training and education levels, which should be protective, significantly increased unsafe actions because they created an illusion of competence without real practical skills, while the work environment had a direct effect on accidents but not through behavioral mediation. The academic contribution of the research lies in the empirical validation that in the ultra-complex petrochemical industry system, the Normal Accident Theory and Swiss Cheese Model are more relevant than the classic individual approach, while the practical contribution is the recommendation for a fundamental transformation of the safety management system from a quantitative-formalistic approach to the quality of interventions that are contextual to the actual operational complexity. The study concludes that workplace accidents in the context of Turn Around are the result of systemic interactions between organizational failures in providing relevant training, the mismatch between worker competencies and task demands, and the normalization of risky behavior reinforced by overconfidence from pseudo-experience and inapplicable education.
