Abstract

The occurrence of violence in correctional institutions is a form of anomaly in the implementation of legislation. Based on the Corrections Law, it is emphasized that treatment of prisoners must be humane. Violence itself occurs due to many factors, namely lack of supervision from supervising judges. The Supervisory Judge has the duties and functions to ensure optimal implementation of criminal sentences in correctional institutions. This research is normative juridical research related to the role of supervisory judges in correctional institutions based on law in the scope of violence against prisoners while serving their sentences. The conclusion of this research is that the process of implementing observation and supervision has not run optimally so it is unable to contribute to the prevention of violence in prisons. The gap between rules and implementation causes the role of the Supervisory Judge to be suboptimal. The inhibiting factors are the lack of budget and transportation, an unbalanced number of judges and workload, a large number of prisoners, and limited time as an active judge as well as a supervising judge and observer. Even though the role of wasmat judges is quite strategic in efforts to prevent violence if examined normatively, there are still no regulations containing sanctions and setting strict monitoring and observation mechanisms, so that prevention of acts of violence cannot be achieved through supervision and observation of supervisory judges

Abstract

This study aims to determine the people's perception of the myth of "kepunan" in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. This research method uses descriptive qualitative with triangulation techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The sampling technique uses Purposive sampling. The object of research in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, where the myth is still developing and believed in, is the myth of "kepunan.” This myth is viewed from three aspects: cultural views, religion, and the younger generation. These three aspects became the basis for obtaining the results of this study. First, the myth of " kepunan " is part of the culture and customs of local peoples passed down from generation to generation from ancestors. Most local people believe in the myth of "kepunan" and think that there is something terrible that comes if they ignore the myth. Other minority groups believe the myth of "kepunan" is an ancestral heritage that needs to be maintained as local wisdom in Bangka Belitung. Second, the group of scholars believes that the myth of " kepunan " is only a mere superstition, unacceptable with logic, and cannot be accounted for its truth, so the myth cannot be connected with religious rules. Third, the younger generation's view of this "kepunan" myth has begun to diminish because environmental factors influence it. Where the younger generation of the local people of Bangka Belitung worked a lot in the city, so slowly, the myth of "kepunan" began to fade.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the role of the Dutch East Indies Government in developing the Tanah Seribu area which is now known as Pontianak Kota District. Pontianak Kota District is currently the center of Pontianak City because of the infrastructure that the Dutch built. Dutch heritage buildings contain history that people have begun to forget due to the times. This research method uses a historical method which consists of five stages, namely topic selection, source collection, verification, interpretation and writing. The results of this research reveal the history of buildings left by the Indies government as evidence that the Dutch played a role in forming the center of Pontianak City. Several Dutch heritage buildings were very useful for the Pontianak City Government in the early days of Indonesian independence. Indonesia's unstable conditions do not allow the government to build facilities, so the City Government utilizes Dutch heritage buildings. Some of the buildings are still in use today, and have even become Pontianak City Cultural Heritage because they contain historical significance. This determination shows that the Dutch East Indies Government also left good things for Indonesia.
