Abstract

Background: Cataract is one of the leading causes of visual impairment and blindness, particularly among the elderly population, with a higher incidence observed in women. Limited public knowledge regarding cataract risk factors, symptoms, and management often results in delays in eye examinations and treatment. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of members of the PKK “Sekar” group in Garung Village regarding cataracts, including their definition, risk factors, symptoms, prevention, and management. Methods: The activity employed a health education approach through interactive lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions, supported by educational media such as PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, and posters. Knowledge evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The activity was conducted on November 18, 2025, involving 20 participants. Results: The evaluation results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge, as indicated by an increase in the mean knowledge score from 81 in the pre-test to 98 in the post-test. Conclusion: Health education delivered through a PKK group-based approach was proven to be effective in enhancing community knowledge, particularly among elderly women, regarding cataracts. This activity serves as a promotive and preventive effort to reduce the risk of visual impairment and blindness caused by cataracts.

Abstract

Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness worldwide and remains a major public health problem, particularly among the elderly population. Its slow and often asymptomatic progression in the early stages results in late diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of preventive and early detection strategies. This community service activity aimed to improve knowledge and understanding of glaucoma among members of the Sema’an Al-Qur’an group in Sindupaten Village, Kertek District, Wonosobo, through a community-based health promotion approach. The intervention consisted of interactive health education sessions, discussions, question-and-answer activities, and the use of educational media, including PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, and posters. Knowledge levels were assessed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires administered to 10 participants, most of whom were elderly. The results demonstrated a significant increase in the mean knowledge score from 78 in the pre-test to 98 in the post-test, with the minimum score improving from 40 to 80. Furthermore, 90% of participants achieved a very good level of knowledge after the intervention. These findings indicate that community-based health education is effective in enhancing glaucoma-related health literacy. This program supports the implementation of eye health policies by strengthening promotive and preventive efforts at the primary healthcare level, thereby contributing to early detection and reducing the risk of permanent blindness due to glaucoma.

Abstract

The limited availability of feed during the dry season has been a major constraint for smallholder dairy goat farmers in Kalijaya Village, Ciamis Regency. Farmers traditionally rely on fresh fodder without preservation, resulting in low feed efficiency and unstable milk production. This community service program introduced the Solar Feed Fermentor System, a renewable energy-based technology designed to support sustainable fermented feed production. The implementation involved 20 farmer participants and included stages of socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. Results showed a significant improvement in farmers’ knowledge and technical skills, with average understanding scores increasing from 62% to 86%. Feed production capacity increased from 20–30 kg/day to 120–150 kg/day, while processing time and energy costs were reduced by more than 50%. The adoption of solar energy minimized dependence on electricity and promoted environmentally friendly practices. This program demonstrates a replicable model of community empowerment integrating renewable energy, feed technology, and rural sustainability.

Abstract

This community service activity (PkM) is carried out in Pattappa Village, Pujananting District, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi, with a focus on increasing the capacity of Karang Taruna in managing the potential of local natural resources in the form of solid sandstone. Pattappa Village has unique geological potential with high-quality solid sandstones; however, utilization is still limited to simple products and has not provided significant economic added value. Activity implementation methods include preparation stages (observation and pre-test), implementation stage (training through direct discussion and practice of sand processing), and evaluation stage (post-test and observation of practical results). A total of 40 participants participated in this activity, consisting of Karang Taruna managers, village apparatus, and residents, with a high level of participation. Pre-test and post-test analysis results showed significant improvements, with index values of 90.5% including the category of strongly agree. This confirms that Pkm activities are practical, as well as knowledge, skills, and community awareness of local potential. Increased capacity of village youth through Karang Taruna is expected to support the development of value-added craft products based on pejal sand, so they can become the village’s flagship product that supports sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Janggala Village in Tasikmalaya Regency is designated as a national priority area characterized by relatively high poverty rates and susceptibility to natural disasters. As a strategic community group, the Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK) of Janggala Village encounters significant challenges, specifically low entrepreneurial skills, limited access to production equipment, and weak business management governance. This empowerment program aims to enhance the partners' economic independence by strengthening production capabilities (hard skills) and business management competencies (soft skills). The implementation method utilized a participatory "learning by doing" approach combined with intensive mentoring, which encompassed training in sewing batik derivative products, entrepreneurship management assistance, financial recording workshops, and the facilitation of appropriate technology. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in partner empowerment. In the managerial aspect, entrepreneurial understanding increased by 32.2% (reaching 88.4%), and financial recording proficiency rose by 32% (reaching 87.8%). Regarding technical aspects, sewing skills improved by 27% (reaching 83.6%). Furthermore, the program successfully facilitated the provision of production equipment, including sewing and overlock machines, enabling 35 TP PKK members to manufacture ready-to-use products such as tote bags, pouches, and outerwear.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the humanistic-democratic model in an effort to improve student motivation and learning discipline in elementary schools. Education as the main foundation in the formation of quality human resources requires a comprehensive learning approach, not only oriented to the cognitive aspect, but also paying attention to the affective and social aspects. The humanistic model emphasizes respect for the uniqueness and potential of each individual, while the democratic model emphasizes the principles of equality, justice, and active student participation in the learning process. The method used in this study is a literature study with a content analysis of relevant literature related to the theory and practice of the humanistic and democratic models. The results of the study revealed that the application of the model is able to create an inclusive, warm, and conducive learning environment, which significantly increases student motivation and learning discipline. This approach is also effective in building students' character to be independent, responsible, and have social empathy from an early age. The implications of this study provide practical guidance for educators in developing holistic and humanity-oriented classroom management strategies in elementary schools.

Abstract

Sharia Venture Capital is an alternative financing instrument that offers a partnership-based scheme oriented toward fairness and free from elements of usury. This study aims to analyze the contractual mechanisms used in Sharia venture capital and their relevance for financing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through a literature review that examines the concept of Sharia venture capital, contract structures, and the characteristics of MSME financing needs. The analysis shows that the most commonly used contracts in Sharia venture capital are musyarakah, mudharabah, and wakalah bil ujrah. Each contract has distinct characteristics that address the needs of partnership-based financing, risk-sharing, and business mentoring. The study finds that this financing model is highly relevant for MSMEs, particularly because it does not require collateral, emphasizes profit-sharing, and provides managerial support. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, such as low Islamic financial literacy and the limited number of Sharia venture capital institutions in Indonesia. This study is expected to serve as a foundation for developing a more inclusive and Sharia-compliant MSME financing model.

Abstract

This study examines bank acquisition as a strategy to strengthen competitive positioning, enhance capital structure, and support business expansion. An acquisition involves not only the integration of management systems, technology, and human resources, but also influences operational efficiency, asset optimization, and the improvement of banking services and products. Positive impacts are reflected in financial ratios, credit risk-bearing capacity, long-term growth, and operational stability, which help increase the trust of customers and other stakeholders. This study also highlights the importance of proper risk management and compliance with OJK regulations to ensure the sustainability and competitiveness of banks within an increasingly competitive banking industry.

Abstract

Sharia leasing provides an asset-based financing mechanism that enables Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to obtain productive equipment without requiring substantial upfront capital. This study analyzes the effectiveness of sharia leasing, particularly the ijarah and ijarah muntahiyah bittamlik (IMBT) contracts, in improving MSEs’ access to capital. Using literature review methods, this study evaluates scholarly articles, books, and regulatory documents related to Islamic financing. The findings indicate that sharia leasing effectively enhances access to capital because it does not require additional collateral, offers flexible payment structures, and includes asset ownership options at the end of the lease period. However, its implementation faces challenges such as limited sharia leasing institutions, low financial literacy, and insufficient product innovation. Strengthening education, expanding institutional reach, and developing more flexible leasing models are needed to maximize its contribution to MSE development.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) and Society 5.0 has brought significant transformation to vocational education, particularly within Indonesian vocational high schools (SMK). This transformation requires a curriculum that is adaptive, integrative, and aligned with the needs of the business sector, industry, and the labor market (DUDIKA). This study aims to analyze how digital technology influences the design, implementation, and effectiveness of the SMK curriculum in preparing competent graduates who meet modern industrial demands. The research employed a Literature Study (LS) method by reviewing 10 scientific articles related to digital technology, curriculum development, teacher competencies, student competencies, and vocational education policies. The findings reveal that the integration of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Teacher Digital Competencies (TDC) plays a crucial role in increasing the relevance of vocational learning to current industry needs. These technologies not only enhance instructional methods but also support the development of digital literacy, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and students’ understanding of digitalized industrial processes.
